Thank you melo

Melo comments that he not feeling the love from Denver.. Gee I wonder why.

Carmelo Anthony Says His Former Team Doesn't Want Him to Be Successful with Knicks

By now, it's getting pretty hard to ignore the fact that the New York Knicks haven't seemed to improve all that much ever since they went out and acquired star forward Carmelo Anthony from the Denver Nuggets. Melo himself is doing just fine, averaging 25.5 points per game as a a Knick, but the team is just 6-5 in 11 games since the trade.

Meanwhile, things are just peachy in Denver. The Nuggets are 8-2 since shipping Melo to the Knicks, and they are making a push in the Western Conference playoff race as a result. In addition, head coach George Karl hasn't been afraid to tell like it like it is on occasion, and it's pretty obvious at this point that he doesn't really miss his former star.

In speaking with the New York Daily News earlier on Tuesday, Melo opened up about the general sense of jubilation in his old team. Not surprisingly, he's of the opinion that the Nuggets want him to fail in New York.

"I really think they kind of don't want me to have success in New York, that's the way I look at it," he said. "I try not to think about that. I've been in Denver 7 ½ years. For me to move on was a hard thing to do. This is a business and I've cut my ties there."

From merely reading the text, it's difficult to tell whether or not Anthony is surprised by this. But in all honesty, he shouldn't be. It was obvious from the very start of the season that he didn't want to play in Denver anymore, and he didn't exactly force the organization's hand with any sense of subtlety. So why would the Nuggets organization wish him well?

Obviously, this isn't quite the same as Cleveland rooting against LeBron James after he took his talents to South Beach. The feeling in Denver isn't nearly as bitter. Instead, both the organization and its fans are mocking the very idea that they needed Melo in the first place. This wouldn't be the case if the Nuggets were 2-8 without him instead of 8-2, but one supposes that, on occasion, you have to make a good situation even better.

As for the Knicks, we may as well be honest about their chances this year. They may have themselves a dynamic duo in Carmelo Anthony and Amar'e Stoudemire, but they're not going to be good enough to dispatch any of the top teams in the Eastern Conference. Make no mistake, they are not a so-called 'super team' quite yet.

I guess Carmello has no idea ...

…about how divorces usually end. This isnt Hollywood where exWives kick boots with exHusbands new wife.

BTW, the Knicks are now 6 – 6.

Oh, and Carmello blamed Dahantey Jones good performance in Sundays game on, ready? the refs.

LOL at this statement "Haven't seemed to improve"

If you said that about their offense you’d be pretty spot on.

They not only haven’t seemed to improve, but they’ve gotten worse. To be fair, it’s not all Melo’s fault. Chauncey is playing pretty horribly. Hell, they defend so poorly AC is getting solid minutes!

CB may just want to get back to his family by May 1

Ok, that’s pretty cynical. I suspect he’s still banged up. I got one of those deep thigh bruises playing ball, and I couldn’t play for about a month.

yes, of course

getting a bit ahead of myself

Can I just suggest something

Of course the Nugs getting some NY goods helps Nugs but is it possible that just getting rid of Carmello was a plus?

Old time Nug fans would know better than me, but I recall the 1st game after trade, w/ no new players dressed, the Nugs stomped the Grizzlies, right? Addition by subtraction?

It's always scary

when you think you’re going to lose the player that has brought your team back to relevance. On the one hand, you know that the Nuggets have always played well without him, but on the other you have to think that it’s probably just a fluke and no way it could last. It’s hard to say now, but my gut feeling is that even without the new players coming over, they would have become a better “team”. I am not a fan of Melo, and I always had this sneaking feeling that he was bringing the whole squad down. His selfishness is cancerous but if he could ever master it, he could be amazing.

star melo hahaha

only reason he scored big , he is a ball hog, shoots out of sinc, but who needs him, now we got 12 all stars, and there proving it, may not be scoring 40 a game but combined, there blowing some of the oppostion totally out of the water, the two they lost to Miami and Orlando, were flooks if the golden nuggets would have had even 2% more on there scoring, scores would have been the other way around, look out next time, we’ll get them to …

STIFF LIST (as of 4/26 by Andrew Feinstein)

1. METTA WORLD PEACE

Metta resorted back to Ron Ron last Sunday by clubbing James Hardenwith an "inadvertent celebratory elbow", landing him a 7-game suspension. Apparently, changing his name didn't prevent NBA commissioner David Stern from overlooking Metta's past behavior problems.

2. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS

The 'Cats are on the verge of securing the worst winning percentage in NBA history. Given that the guy who runs the team - Michael Jordan - had previously drafted Kwame Brown and Adam Morrison, should this really be a shock?

3. OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
The team that was supposedly built to overcome the lockout-shortened season managed to lose 7 of its last 14 games, ceding the Western Conference's 1-seed to the Spurs in the process. Their reward might be a first round matchup with defending champion Dallas.

4. BILLY HUNTER AND DEREK FISHER
With report after report coming out about NBPA union head Hunter's shady, nepotistic dealings and questions arising about Fisher's own role in dealing with NBA owners behind Hunter's back during the lockout, this off-the-court scandal could prove to be more exciting than the playoffs themselves!

5. STEVE NASH AND THE PHOENIX SUNS
The Suns are on this list for squandering the last few great seasons from Nash. Nash is on this list for his stupidly stubborn loyalty to a franchise as awful as the Suns.
