Thank you Chauncey

As a member of Nuggets Nation, I'd like to thank Chauncey Billups for everything he has done on and off of the court. You were the reason why we were once contenders in the Western Conference. You were the one who brought leadership to this Nuggets squad. You were the one who helped put players like J.R. Smith, Arron Affalo and Ty Lawson.

Even though you were unfairly traded, we'll never forget what you have done for this organization. You deserve better and we'll miss you greatly.

Although you're probably pissed off right now (and have every right to be) we wish you good luck in New York. Maybe, just maybe, we'll see you again a Nuggets uniform, a uniform you should be in.

As for you Carmelo, I hope you realize what you have officially lost in Denver. The fans in New York will love you, sure. Why wouldn't they? You're a Knick. But to basically quit on a team that gave you a second chance after you fucked up early on in your career, well, that's classless. You're going to make more money, but you're not going to have an easier chance to win a Championship in New York. The East is getting stronger, while the West is gettting weaker. Have fun in New York....you bastard!

Write respectfully of your SB Nation community and yourself.

Well said..

I’m sure CB is pissed he’s leaving his hometown, but he will do the right thing and battle on in the big apple. I wish him well out there. Maybe he’ll hit a game winner over the Heat at some point?

Billups, was my favorite Nugget and he’ll be missed for sure! Love to see him back in the powder and blue before he retires.

This.

I don’t have that much hate for Melo…but I have love for CB and am sad to see him go.

Thanks Chauncey.

I will miss Chauncey a lot more in his short time here

Than I will Melo for all his seven years.

Good riddance, Melo. Enjoy getting smoked by the Celtics, Magic and Heat.

Swats.

Love you Chauncey

This sucks. Period. I hope you can forgive the front office, get out of New York, and come home back to Denver. We already miss you! If you don’t make it, we all wish you the best!!!

Thanks a ton Chauncey

born here, made all the noise during HS here, stayed loyal to the state and made CU relevant, came back here after making us all proud in the way he played in Detroit. He’ll be back to the state when he retires, hopefully as a coach.

knicks fan

please dont hate on me i just want to know does chauncey have some gas left in the tank? I know you guys are going to miss melo but i think chandler will grow on you. wait till he catches a crazy dunk for you guys. mosgov can run the floor and put back dunk like a mofo. his hands suck and he is not a great rebounder. will block shots. now gallo. think jekel and hyde all in 1 game. when he is on forget about it. when he is off you will ask yourself is he playing? is he on the court? but he does have the most upside out of every 1.

by jayshady on Feb 22, 2011 1:48 AM MST reply actions

this is just me aight?

Chauncey can still light it up, but his value isn’t reflected by his stats at the end of the game. Oh no. His value is his leadership and the stability he gives to his team. New York will instantly be a more stable and more intelligent team when he is on the court. Guaranteed.

He is the reason the Knicks will be a lot better right away. Dude is a top notch winner.

CB 1

Is Mr. Big shot. He is bad on D these days, but it doesn’t matter with the Knicks.
I love his clutch 3s in the last 5 minutes of the 4th quarter. Also we will miss his FT shooting.
He wIll be enough for you guys to win in the regular season, but he won’t have enough in the tank to win playoff series like he used to do. I wish he was with the Nugs to teach these young guys how to ball like a champion

Thanks Hulk for saying pretty much exactly what I was thinking.

CB come back home ASAP.

We love you CB

Chauncey we loved what you did. We feel your pain. Your old friend [Carmelo Anthony] is now your enemy on the same team. Making you head to the craphead Knicks. If you are reading this what I think you should do is play like crap all season and head out to free agency so maybe us Denver fans will protest and petition to get you back on this team! We love your 2 seasons at Denver. And we hope you’ll come back.

Sincerely,
grassmuncher

Agree, CB you are classy, a great leader and a good example

Like the post Hulk. CB is the anti-Melo, hard work and diligence allowed CB to recreate a career that looked like it was almost over before it really began.

I played against CB a couple times at the rec in HS and have always appreciated and cheered for him. His intelligence and professionalism will allow him to have a great career past his playing years and I wish him all the best in that.

Thank you, Chauncey Billups

Your career speaks for itself. We were fortunate to have you be an integral part of the Denver Nuggets for the relatively short time you were here. I wish you all the best in the rest of your basketball life. Many of us also hope you get to continue that career with the Nuggets after your playing days are over—if that’s what you want.

We. Will. Miss. You.

STIFF LIST (as of 4/26 by Andrew Feinstein)

1. METTA WORLD PEACE

Metta resorted back to Ron Ron last Sunday by clubbing James Hardenwith an "inadvertent celebratory elbow", landing him a 7-game suspension. Apparently, changing his name didn't prevent NBA commissioner David Stern from overlooking Metta's past behavior problems.

2. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS

The 'Cats are on the verge of securing the worst winning percentage in NBA history. Given that the guy who runs the team - Michael Jordan - had previously drafted Kwame Brown and Adam Morrison, should this really be a shock?

3. OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
The team that was supposedly built to overcome the lockout-shortened season managed to lose 7 of its last 14 games, ceding the Western Conference's 1-seed to the Spurs in the process. Their reward might be a first round matchup with defending champion Dallas.

4. BILLY HUNTER AND DEREK FISHER
With report after report coming out about NBPA union head Hunter's shady, nepotistic dealings and questions arising about Fisher's own role in dealing with NBA owners behind Hunter's back during the lockout, this off-the-court scandal could prove to be more exciting than the playoffs themselves!

5. STEVE NASH AND THE PHOENIX SUNS
The Suns are on this list for squandering the last few great seasons from Nash. Nash is on this list for his stupidly stubborn loyalty to a franchise as awful as the Suns.
