Put the D back in Enver

And, no, I don't think replacing coach Karl with Mike Brown is a good idea...somebody suggested that on another thread and I wanted to poke my eyes out even thinking about how boring that would be without Melo on our team. He only won because of Lebron...clearly

However, I grow increasingly frustrated watching legitimate individual defenders (AAA, CB1, KMart, even Nene) form a team that is so porous on D. I think it has to do with scheme and not with talent. Does this have to do with coach Grg leaving? Was Mosley that much of a presence on the bench? I mean, I think every team the Nuggets play says every time down the court, "Alright, best shooter on the baseline or wing, high pick and roll, 110 points per game."

This is driving me more crazy than the Melo thing right now to be totally honest. Game in and game out we lose time outs, can't stop the pick and roll, switch every screen, don't get back on D (which you would think means that we go to the offensive boards...eh, not so much), and give up open look after open look.

I wish I had all the answers, but I don't. I would love to get your takes though on why this is and what in God's name can be done about it. Last year and our WCF run, we gave up a lot of points due to aggressiveness. Has Melo taken the fight out of us?

Thanks for reading my venting...I needed that.

I agree, they have the talent

But both offensively and defensively they struggle. They are poorly coached. The melo situation is taking a toll on Karl.

We're terrible on D.

It’s not even a mindset problem. You’d think it’d be because we’re distracted or whatever, but the team definitely looks like they’re trying, for the beginning of the game at least. Afterwards, you can tell they’re frustrated that they’re getting killed on D.

I think it's the defensive philosophy

switching on screens and sagging off the 3 ball…. How many times do you see teams playing us get WWIIIDDDEEEE open 3’s? We get lucky a lot when they miss, but that has been driving me crazy this year…. like I heard Hastings say " all this guy (Bonner) can do is stand at the 3 point line and shoot it if he’s open, how can you leave THAT guy open?"

STIFF LIST (as of 4/26 by Andrew Feinstein)

1. METTA WORLD PEACE

Metta resorted back to Ron Ron last Sunday by clubbing James Hardenwith an "inadvertent celebratory elbow", landing him a 7-game suspension. Apparently, changing his name didn't prevent NBA commissioner David Stern from overlooking Metta's past behavior problems.

2. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS

The 'Cats are on the verge of securing the worst winning percentage in NBA history. Given that the guy who runs the team - Michael Jordan - had previously drafted Kwame Brown and Adam Morrison, should this really be a shock?

3. OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
The team that was supposedly built to overcome the lockout-shortened season managed to lose 7 of its last 14 games, ceding the Western Conference's 1-seed to the Spurs in the process. Their reward might be a first round matchup with defending champion Dallas.

4. BILLY HUNTER AND DEREK FISHER
With report after report coming out about NBPA union head Hunter's shady, nepotistic dealings and questions arising about Fisher's own role in dealing with NBA owners behind Hunter's back during the lockout, this off-the-court scandal could prove to be more exciting than the playoffs themselves!

5. STEVE NASH AND THE PHOENIX SUNS
The Suns are on this list for squandering the last few great seasons from Nash. Nash is on this list for his stupidly stubborn loyalty to a franchise as awful as the Suns.
