Rockets fan here - are Denver fans amenable to this deal?

Call me crazy, but this is the kind of deal that is both consistent with what the Houston beat writer has reported (in regards to Carmelo), and one that I think satisfies the desires of 4 different teams (yes, 4). It is also the kind of massive deal that is extremely hard to get 4 GMs to agree to, and is a vision I had in a dream:

HOU receives: Carmelo Anthony, Nene, Omer Asik, Keith Bogans, CJ Watson, Al Harrington, CHI '12 1st rd pick, MIN '11 2nd rd pick
DEN receives: Jordan Hill, Yao, Shane Battier, NYK ’12 pick (which we own), CHI ’12 pick (Houston flips this pick to you), MIN '11 2nd rd pick (we also flip this to you)
CHI receives: Courtney Lee, Chuck Hayes, Aaron Brooks, Nikola Pekovic
MIN receives: Chase Budinger, Taj Gibson

Our beat writer in Houston has reported that a Carmelo package would entail Jordan Hill, Yao, Battier and a draft pick. The addition of the other teams nets you guys 2 more draft picks, giving you at least 3 in 2012 and an additional 2nd rounder in this year's draft, which isn't chock full of stars, thus giving you more value in the later stages of the draft. Jordan Hill is a very long, athletic big man who has shown flashes of being an NBA force.

Also, our beat writer reports that dealing Carmelo dramtically increases the likelihood of Nene being moved as well, and this deal gets you out of Harrington's deal. What do you guys think?

Write respectfully of your SB Nation community and yourself.

I can't speak for everyone

but this deal holds zero appeal to me because it includes Nene. Nene really is the centerpiece on which I’d like to build this team around in the post-Melo era and we’re getting nothing real in return. Yao and Battier are both expiring. Hill is young but very unproven. The first round picks you’re shipping us aren’t likely to be very good, maybe late teens to early 20’s. To be honest, I’d rather take the NYK deal over this one and that’s saying something.

The deal is similar to one published on this site earlier in the week; except this deal is way too weak for the Nugs

But that deal was larger and was ultimately Houston helping the Nugs & Lakers in a Melo deal. In that scenario, the Nugs would get the 1st rd picks, Hill and Bynum for Melo, Nene, Harrington and others

But this deal is way too weak for the Nuggets. You have the Nuggets give up Melo, Nene and Harrington and only get an unproven PF (Hill) and two 1st rd picks

You have Houston giving up nothing except for role players and draft picks. Very convenient of the others teams offering to help the rockets out like that

That deal is not very realistic. The Nuggets could very well get Hill and the two 1st rd picks for just Nene… or Nene and Harrington

Battier and Yao are nothing but expiring contracts. The Nuggets can do a whole lot more for Melo than just expiring contracts

The Chicago and Minnesota pieces don’t really make a lot of sense either

If/when the Nugs do deal Melo

And they decide to also trade Nene, which I think they should because Nene game will regress if the team is torn down, the Rockets will be a very realistic destination for Nene

Oh God

I’m glad to trade Melo and get something for him. And I know a few other pieces would have to be included. But anything like the deal proposed is a major blowing up the squad and is a white flag going into the playoffs, where I think the Nuggets have a legit shot at surprising people without Melo.

I have no interest in Yao. His career is over as far as I am concerned.

Nice thinking if you are a Rockets fan

How about you give us Scola Martin and a draft pick on a rental for Melo. You guys seem insistent on renting Melo, so that should be a good offer from a Nuggets’ fan point of view.

Gotta love the haterz. Keep that hate a comin'

Two late 1sts and hill for melo and nene?

Two late 1sts and hill is the price for a melo rental. If you want nene (the most efficient player in the game) then you will have to include your current lottery pick instead of one of the above picks… And patrick patterson.

STIFF LIST (as of 4/26 by Andrew Feinstein)

1. METTA WORLD PEACE

Metta resorted back to Ron Ron last Sunday by clubbing James Hardenwith an "inadvertent celebratory elbow", landing him a 7-game suspension. Apparently, changing his name didn't prevent NBA commissioner David Stern from overlooking Metta's past behavior problems.

2. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS

The 'Cats are on the verge of securing the worst winning percentage in NBA history. Given that the guy who runs the team - Michael Jordan - had previously drafted Kwame Brown and Adam Morrison, should this really be a shock?

3. OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
The team that was supposedly built to overcome the lockout-shortened season managed to lose 7 of its last 14 games, ceding the Western Conference's 1-seed to the Spurs in the process. Their reward might be a first round matchup with defending champion Dallas.

4. BILLY HUNTER AND DEREK FISHER
With report after report coming out about NBPA union head Hunter's shady, nepotistic dealings and questions arising about Fisher's own role in dealing with NBA owners behind Hunter's back during the lockout, this off-the-court scandal could prove to be more exciting than the playoffs themselves!

5. STEVE NASH AND THE PHOENIX SUNS
The Suns are on this list for squandering the last few great seasons from Nash. Nash is on this list for his stupidly stubborn loyalty to a franchise as awful as the Suns.
