What the Chinese government — which is what really runs the Chinese Basketball Association — did not want was teams to rent an NBA player during the lockout. So they only allowed their teams to sign NBA free agents and no opt-out clause for when the lockout ended.
Marc Stein at ESPN tweeted this early Monday morning.
So, it looks like J.R. and Chandler might get to have their cake and eat it too. I still don't think either of them is re-signing in Denver, but that could just be me. At this point, I'm so pessimistic, it feels like the nuggets will never get another free agent to sign here again. Can you imagine a team of only draft picks?
