Melo "prefers NYK or CHI"

Apparently Melo still wants out, according to "sources". Who knows how much truth there is to all of this but it sure is really starting to worry me that Melo will be gone in a bout a month or so, if not before the trade deadline for sure. I'm not gonna dog on him for wanting a change of scenery. He owes us nothing, gave us 7 great and exciting years (hopefully more). Good luck whatever happens and thanks Melo.

Chicago, Thats a new one.

Havn’t heard that rumour before, honestly they wont let this BS rest. All this Melo trade talk was finally calming down in the media, then they come out with this. I guess the media wants to keep this “story” going..
I hope that all this is false and that Melo stays, he is arguably the greatest Nugget of all time. But if he does decide that its in his best interests to leave for another team, i wouldn’t hate him, he would still be one of my heros.

No sir, the media won't let this one drop...

…not in the deadest moment of the year for NBA news.

The whole Melo trade thing sounds spurious to me, as I worte on another thread:

If Karl’s health holds, the Nuggets as they now stand can be contenders, and they have a 2 or 3 year window before Chauncy, Harrington and Birdman completely fade. If they get ahold of a serious big, they are scary and Laker-ready. The surrounding talent issue is highly addressable.
In other words, Melo’s best bet by far for a ring (if that is the real issue) is an extension in Denver. It’s also by far his best bet economically, especially with a probable reduction in max contract levels under the coming CBA. After three more years he could move on to some other contender, still in his prime at age 30.
If he wants to leave anyway, maybe he’s just unhappy in Denver – and none of the above can change that. Eddie Johnson did an interesting piece along these lines at Hoopshype.com.
Melo has many faults, but what he brings as a player is very, very rare. I just hope he stays and gets his ring in the Mile High. All this verbiage will then be instantly and rightly forgotten

Something needs to change with todays media

All theses so called sources claiming things isn’t fair on the fans (make us worry and make NY and CHI fans jizz their pants over false excitement). not fair on Melo either. untill i hear him say anything i wont believe it

I just hope you dont trade him to NY

I could care less if the Rockets trade for him or not, Melo is awesome and of course I want him, but more than I want him, I want him to stay the freak away from NY. Ill take Jon Henson or Josh Selby with there top 10 pick.

Did you know Eric Berry was asexually produced by Chuck Norris?

Chicago would make the most sense for Carmelo... good market and great team....

also he’s a great fit with Rose and Boozer… that said, there is no way Denver would accept Deng, Gibson and picks for Melo… absolute garbage for Denver… they would seriously be better off just letting Melo expire, why take on a cap crippling contract (for a player who isn’t that good), two most likely 28-30th first round picks and Taj Gibson?… any deal would have to involve either Boozer (later in the season) or Noah…. but then the team isn’t that good looking to Melo anymore…

That being said, I think its all a moot point b/cj I think this was just written by another dumb writer who had nothing to write about so he kept churning out more speculation… he just added Chicago b/c they make the most sense (outside of Orlando, but neither have the assets to get MeLo)

by hvino on Sep 9, 2010 6:19 AM MDT reply actions

Yeah any package I can see coming back from Chicago would have to include Noah.

This whole story is just tired, though. The number of teams connected to Melo by now is around half the teams in the league? So it goes, I guess.

The Great Conspiracy

I’m reading a lot about the East Coast Media conspiracy to keep the “Melo wants out” information going. I think there is a lot of truth to the fact that many of the stories we are reading are “made up” by writers with nothing else to write about as it pertains to the NBA. But…………..it sure makes me wonder, can ALL of the stories about Melo wanting out be false? I know he has to keep it close to the vest to avoid being fined, but honestly guys and gals I have to think that there are some of these stories that have validity. At any rate, I do agree with you hvino that Chicago would not be a good trade partner on what we would get back, nor is the Knicks, of course, and if Eric Gordon isn’t part of the Clippers trade which I believe he would not be, that wouldn’t be a good trade as well.

The Nets, Orlando, and Houston – Houston has some good assets plus draft picks IMHO are our 3 best trade opiton IF AND WHEN it gets to that.

I love how East Coast media HATES the Nuggets

The Woj article about Billips ends with “Billups won’t win a championship in Denver with or without Melo. And he (Billups) knows it too”.
Wow, I didn’t get that out of the Billups quotes to Woj. What a hater.
I am tired of these rumor articles, they are a waste of time and only try to stir the pot for the sake of whoring themselves to Bulls and Knicks fans. Even if Melo wants to leave right now, anything can change once the season starts and different things start happening (see Kobe Bryant 2008).
I will only acknowledge an article about Melo when it says he is has ACTUALLY been traded or signed the extension to stay.

Really Woj?

You don’t think the Nuggets can come up with a trade or gel really well before the playoffs in 2011?
You have already written off a team that made the WCF and pushed the Lakers to the limit a year ago and is arguably better now if EVERYONE is healthy? Well of course it is Woj and in his mind only a LAL vs. MIA final is possible. No other scenario can work, too many confounding variables for that to happen in his mind. If he tried to think of other possibilities, his head will explode.

I think

That we started to trust AW because he would call out players’ BS during the season the way ESPN would never dare to. In the off season though he’s fuckin mud skipper like every other journalist. He flops around aimlessly trying to find substance for a story before his career dries up…like the mud skipper though, he just keeping landing in muck.

+1

I am not sure he knows what a razor is, or a dentist. he is good though, and he could be a franchise cornerstone.

Championships are not always a question of personal hygiene

but we can put Steve Hess in Noah’s shaving kit. He’ll pop out each day, start clapping his hands and barking "Lather lather lather!! New blade new blade new blade!! Aqua Velva Aqua Velva Aqua Velva!!! and get Joakim all gussied up before each game.

Still doesn’t work for me, unless it’s Noah, Gibson and a $12M trade exception to protect cap space. We get two young pieces and FA flexibility along with other expiring deals. I’m not even sure about that.

STIFF LIST (as of 2/7 by Andrew Feinstein)

1. THE NUGGETS AT HOME
How is it possible that a Nuggets team with this much talent can be 7-5 at home?! Things have gotten so bad that fans are clamoring for J.R. Smith to return.

2. CARMELO ANTHONY
Kobe Bryant plays through any and all ailments. Melo uses any and ailments as an excuse not to play.

3. KEVIN LOVE
Just when the T'Wolves are looking better, Love stomps on Luis Scola and lands himself a two-game suspension.

4. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS
The 'Cats have lost 11 straight and are now 3-21 ... in the Eastern Conference! This is what happens when you let an underwear salesman with a Hitler mustache run your team.

5. MIKE BROWN
Dr. Bunsen Honeydew (Google it!) got himself a one-game suspension for making contact with a referee.
