The Clippers want JR Smith

Well now that JR Smith's court case is now closed, it looks like the Clippers have emerged as a candidate for JR Smith. The Fanhouse article talks about the police case being closed, but at the end it says the Clippers are a potential destination and have shown interest in him throughout the summer. Now idk what they'd offer, because outside of Kaman and Jordan (well and Griffin and Gordon, but lets be real) there's nothing on that roster I think is worth trading JR for.

Maybe a package

Involving Melo? Seems to be the only thing that would work.

if theyre foolish enough to want jr....

maybe theyre foolish enough to give up minnys 2012 pick for him?

jokes.

Maybe JR, Kenyon for Baron Davis and Chris Kaman..

sure lots of problems (a lot of PGs and $ for Denver and no PG/C for LAC)

nice

…considering your team lost to the Clippers in the playoffs, hasn’t won jack, and is losing your franchise player….yeah, go ahead and try to claim superiority.

Compared to the Clippers

We’re still a better team, even without Anthony

Chris Andersen could be in a porno with his 'stache. Too bad he still wouldn't know how to box out.

Agreed

I’m still interested to see how Griffin looks. That’s going to be..well…interesting. Ha!

For JR?

Umm hate to say this – but after all that’s happened with JR, i.e., the recent choking incident, the “selfish” statement to reporters, the “quitting” in the last game against Utah – I’m thinkin we’d be lucky to get a 2nd Round Pick for him

by jjbugs on Sep 20, 2010 3:47 PM MDT reply actions

This makes me happy

I’d be more than willing to part with JR Smith for Bledsoe, Aminu, or an moderately protected 2011 pick. Aminu could come back straight up for JR but Bledsoe would have to be accompanied by another contract (Brian Cook would work).

If they want to roll JR Smith into a Melo deal, I’d have no issues with that either.

Melo/Smith for Kaman, Aminu, Bledsoe, 2011 1st, Minny’s 2012, and a salary cap filler (Smith, Foye, Butler).

by TChizza on Sep 20, 2010 3:48 PM MDT reply actions

I feelin that trade.

Or something along those lines

I heard LA offered Aminu and cap space for Luol Deng

so if they’re that dumb, then maybe we could steal Aminu, who could end up being the next Shawn Marion… I’d actually trade JR and a first for Aminu and TPE… it saves Denver money now and gets us a young player

by hvino on Sep 20, 2010 3:51 PM MDT up reply actions

I hate including the first

because our first round picks are probably going to be pretty high (or very high) for an indefinite amount of time. I’d include an unprotected 2nd but there’s no way I’m trading away any first round picks of ours until 2018 (or at least serious protections until 2018).

by TChizza on Sep 20, 2010 4:16 PM MDT up reply actions

No more trading our first rounders for now.

That's not a dumb trade. Deng is a good player he's just overpaid

I think it's dumb...

just because Aminu’s timeline is closer to Griffin/Gordon/Bledsoe’s than Deng. Kaman and Davis are aging though so I can understand acquiring Deng from that perspective if they’re trying to make an immediate playoff push. Personally, I’d avoid Deng’s contract like grim death in any circumstance but there’s nothing wrong with him as a player (assuming he’s healthy).

by TChizza on Sep 20, 2010 4:33 PM MDT up reply actions

Well if the cliiper are dumb..

How about Melo, JR and a second for Kaman, Aminu, Gordan and Minny’s 1st.
One can dream aye?

The Clips are under the salary cap

Other than the fact that they are the Clippers, why would they trade a Legit NBA Center (Kaman) for nothing but expiring contracts?

If the Clips want JR, hell take him. He may even thrive in on the Clips who need some excitement which JR would bring. But right now the Nugs need to just get rid of JR.

All the posters talk about dumping Camby as a good “addition through subtraction”. Camby is a whole lot better citizen then JR. Dumping JR just to get rid of that bad karma is a good thing; even if it you just get a bag of balls back in return.

You get rid of JR and that allows AAA to become more of a player with more responsibility.

let's roll him into a melo deal

and pretend he’s an asset and not baggage to get more out of the clips.

by skithebert on Sep 20, 2010 4:44 PM MDT reply actions

Aminu for JR straight up

THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!! Bledsoe+ one filler contract for JR would be awesome as well.

by Monkfish on Sep 20, 2010 5:39 PM MDT reply actions

JR only holds value if we package him with someone else

I’m probably in the minority here but unelss we can package him with someone then I’d say just hold onto him this year. He provides 15 ppg min and is one of the best sparks off the bench the NBA has to offer, then after this season he’s gone. We’re not gonna get sh*t for him alone and it’s just not worh clearing up cap space early.

If we do trade Melo

I would actually prefer JR to stay with the Nuggets and Start… He could make up a lot of the scoring missing frome Melo being traded.

Then when people think he is gold for scoring 35PPG trade his fools gold ass for something of value.

by Monkfish on Sep 20, 2010 10:29 PM MDT up reply actions

I have always been a JR fan

His antics bother me, but when his head isn’t up his a**, he can score at will from pretty much anywhere within half court. That being said, his poor choices have turned me away and I could care less if he stays or if he goes.

I don't care how they do it

Just get rid of Smith. Hiss off court issues will only be another distraction.

STIFF LIST (as of 4/26 by Andrew Feinstein)

1. METTA WORLD PEACE

Metta resorted back to Ron Ron last Sunday by clubbing James Hardenwith an "inadvertent celebratory elbow", landing him a 7-game suspension. Apparently, changing his name didn't prevent NBA commissioner David Stern from overlooking Metta's past behavior problems.

2. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS

The 'Cats are on the verge of securing the worst winning percentage in NBA history. Given that the guy who runs the team - Michael Jordan - had previously drafted Kwame Brown and Adam Morrison, should this really be a shock?

3. OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
The team that was supposedly built to overcome the lockout-shortened season managed to lose 7 of its last 14 games, ceding the Western Conference's 1-seed to the Spurs in the process. Their reward might be a first round matchup with defending champion Dallas.

4. BILLY HUNTER AND DEREK FISHER
With report after report coming out about NBPA union head Hunter's shady, nepotistic dealings and questions arising about Fisher's own role in dealing with NBA owners behind Hunter's back during the lockout, this off-the-court scandal could prove to be more exciting than the playoffs themselves!

5. STEVE NASH AND THE PHOENIX SUNS
The Suns are on this list for squandering the last few great seasons from Nash. Nash is on this list for his stupidly stubborn loyalty to a franchise as awful as the Suns.
