Melo wants out, it's going to happen, and the Clippers are suddenly a preferred destination. What we really need is some help up front and to get rid of JR and his problems all at once.
The link below is a trade of Melo and JR for Griffin/Gordon/Kaman. This might seem like an unrealistic trade but there are several factors. Griffin, with all his talent, is a completely unproven player. Gordon is obviously a stud but a bit undersized and not a bad straight-up trade for JR, although better for us. Kaman would basically be a sweetener and could be thought of in place of draft picks we might have asked for in addition to young players. We could move Nene down to PF, play Harrington at SF (try it out anyway, not sure about his quickness but he could cause some match-up problems on the offensive end as well) and Gordon would be a great JR type 6th man to come of the bench and put the ball in the hole. We drop 3 mil. or so off salaries and only Kaman is under contract for more than 1 year (2) so the others could be signed or released at the end of the year for cap relief.
