Around SBN: Jerry Sandusky's Wife Tries To Run A Reporter Over

Another summer, another J.R. Smith incident

Yikes!  It looks the J.R. Smith trade rumor has legs.  J.R. apparently strangled a dude during a work-out last week.  Ah, what would a new season be without an ugly J.R. Smith story?  After watching J.R. dog his way through a couple of summer league games (with the Kroenkes in the front row watching with disgust no less), I am convinced the J.R. Smith Era is over in Denver.

Technically he pulled a Dylon

And choked Wycleff when he got too close…“Ya too close mon!” You can’t just choke all your problems away.

he might got to jail now

he was almost arrested last season due to a no show court date. it involved hitting another player durning a pick up game.

Great JR

After I defended you for risk of what credibility I had remaining you go ahead and remind me of why 70% of Nuggets fans would rather have a ham sandwich on the roster than you. Please take your choking talents to another team, thanks.

JR has duped a lot of people, don't feel bad

Go back and look at the debates last season. Some fell of the JR bandwagon early, others later, eventually the great, great majority will fall.

Let’s just hope Nene doesn’t get all great hands on someone else’s neck.

I am hoping he can play really well

In his contract year to increase his value.
I really don’t care too much about off the court incidents, I am pretty sure all NBA players outside of Nash and Nowitzki do illegal things like smoke pot, DUI, even getting into fights(gasp) etc… They are just better at keeping it out of the spotlight than JR is. I think the problem with JR is that he is not as street smart as his peers so he gets owned more often.

by JR15 on Aug 25, 2010 10:53 PM MDT via mobile up reply actions

I realize that may have been a bit racist

But it is true in general. I can put Billups and Ming on that goody two shoe list as well.

It was

Germans smoke and get DUI’s too you know, don’t leave Dirk out here!

I get the feeling that if we trade him,

we’ll get less than the 2 second round picks + cash that we paid to get him in the first place. I say either keep him, or package him with K-Mart, b/c anything we get in return for him alone won’t be worth it.

You're right the Nugs aren't going to get more than what they gave up to get him

But right now it’s addition through subtraction. His value last year was mostly just in the ESPN highlight reel. Time to cut the relationship, move on and let him stupid himself into unemployment.

by CaddyJack on Aug 26, 2010 2:19 AM MDT reply actions

Actually,

By just quoting Hicks I felt I was going easy on JR. If I had written from my own cold black heart it would’ve been much nastier. JR is an evil genius, really. Every time it looks as if we’re finally, mercifully, going to send him packing he goes and pulls another dumbshit and/or criminal act that muddies the waters for any potential trade suitors. He’s run this play to perfection time and time again.

I’m now anxiously waiting for that game near the trade deadline, when the talks and rumors are heating up again, where JR blazes up a blunt on the bench during a time out then puts it out on Grgrich’s cheek. Or decides it would be fun to shoot nothing but hook shots for a whole quarter, at the wrong basket. Or squats and takes a shit at the foul line then throws it at the dance team. Chest tap, “My Bad.”

by CaddyJack on Aug 26, 2010 9:42 AM MDT up reply actions

Ehhhh...

who knows what happened. They told him to be physical with JR. He was probably doing something that crossed the line. Maybe he was doing some Reggie Evans on Chris Kaman work or saying some over the top stuff about his daughter.

Also, I never read in the article that he choked the guy. It said he TRIED to choke him (whatever that means), and dude ran to the cops.

Ive gotten into “altercations” while playing basketball before. It happens. Nobody cries and calls the cops tho. Although yes this looks bad on JR either way…it could be a bunch of nothing. He probably didnt throw a chair like Kristic!

by blooming rock on Aug 26, 2010 1:05 PM MDT up reply actions

and the sad part is

With all this Melo shit happening if JR was actually smart he would sit back and keep his mouth shut while the whole thing played out, watch Melo get traded to LAC for Griffin, Gordon and picks and then get a chance to maybe start at SF and be the premier scorer of an NBA basketball team. But no, he has to go mess up once again and he still isn’t smart enough on or off the court to do something like that.

if his trade value bottoms out

I say we keep him for a while. The only hope he has of getting a decent contract is by playing his ass off. If he does, then all the arguments for waiting for the trade deadline still hold water. The guy wasn’t a Nugget, so I don’t see it being a locker room distraction.

by deezNuggets on Aug 26, 2010 3:37 PM MDT reply actions

I meant, the guy he tried to choke was not a Nugget

…for the record, I don’t endorse attempted choking unless it’s consensual

by deezNuggets on Aug 26, 2010 3:39 PM MDT up reply actions

Police still investigating JR

Looks like they re-opened the case, JR could definitely face charges again and his trade value just took another hit. Honestly I was a JR fan for a long time but how long can you go when the guy gives you literally no reason to believe he isn’t a bum. If you are still a JR fan, I applaud you and I’d like to know how you do it.

I hear what you're saying, for sure

I used to be a Ben Roethlisberger fan.

JR is still on the cusp of that benefit-of-the-doubt range for me, but after a while…

I have to believe that if you lead a good life and are generally a good person, you will tend to have very, very few of these kinds of incidents. Then again, I wasn’t done being a fuckup until I was like 26 or 27.

by deezNuggets on Aug 27, 2010 1:00 AM MDT up reply actions

Your last sentence says it all.

We all have been fucked up in our lives. Some come around faster than others. However we all come out of it. No one here walks on water, and what is that saying about casting stones?
I’m a JR fan and will be his athleticism is phenomenal and who knows this might be the year that he gets better maybe the Coach can reach out to him in sincerity.

STIFF LIST (as of 2/7 by Andrew Feinstein)

1. THE NUGGETS AT HOME
How is it possible that a Nuggets team with this much talent can be 7-5 at home?! Things have gotten so bad that fans are clamoring for J.R. Smith to return.

2. CARMELO ANTHONY
Kobe Bryant plays through any and all ailments. Melo uses any and ailments as an excuse not to play.

3. KEVIN LOVE
Just when the T'Wolves are looking better, Love stomps on Luis Scola and lands himself a two-game suspension.

4. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS
The 'Cats have lost 11 straight and are now 3-21 ... in the Eastern Conference! This is what happens when you let an underwear salesman with a Hitler mustache run your team.

5. MIKE BROWN
Dr. Bunsen Honeydew (Google it!) got himself a one-game suspension for making contact with a referee.
