Possible players who could help

Let's look at who we could get at the deadline or maybe this FA pool.

1.Jason Maxiell-- I know that Jason Maxiell wouldn't help us with the height disparity in the frontcourt but Max would give us the hard-nosed defense, physicality, and rebounding.

2.Tyrus Thomas-- We all know what Tyrus Thomas brings to the table. Athleticism, Shot-Blocking, Rebounding, some offense and the hustle. Maybe Earl Smith could do the trick when 'Cats try to re-sign him. They are in bad need of scoring off the bench.

3.Al Jefferson-- He has good post offense, good rebounder, and somewhat good help defender. His post game will help Afflalo, Smith, Billups and Melo on the perimeter as most teams tend to double him.

4. Darko Milicic-- Maybe some of you are thinking that Milicic would do us more harm than good. But, Darko could block shots, has the height and the size to battle other bigs and he's cheap.

5. Brad Miller-- A veteran center in the league. He could provide scoring off the bench, quite decent rebounder, and he could stretch the D with his 3 point shot. Maybe the MLE could be the key to signing Brad Miller.

6. Amir Johnson-- AJ brings exactly the things that Tyrus Thomas brings to the team. If the Raptors tend to sign him, we could trade the Hunter TE for him and the Raptors save some $.

7. Taj Gibson.-- Just in case that the Bullsare in a major salary dump mode, we could get him for cheap. Maybe Earl Smith and the Hunter TE for Taj would be a steal. Good rebounder and a decent power forward.

8. Jason Thompson-- He's young, oozes athleticism, and a decent player. He could play the 4 or the 5. He rebounds the ball well. A good help defender and has a good post game.

9. Carl Landry-- He eats rebounds, very physical but has a good mid range game, good shotblocker.

10. Chris Wilcox-- The Pistons are maybe rebuilding their team around a young core so maybe we could get Chris Wilcox. He's a good shotblocker, good rebounder and also has some bunnies.

Maybe I'll come up another FanPost with wingmen as a main topic. So Good Day Stiffs!

bulls will not give up gibson unless he is part of a sign and trade for a top tier free agent

tyrus thomas is what denver needs. he can play all 3 front court positions, start or come off the bench. kmart’s contract gets moved they have depth to compensate.

Can we stop this talk about Tyrus Thomas?

He gets 18 and 10 one night and then 4 and 3 and 5 (fouls) the next night? Does “this” ring a bell? It sounds like a core problem we have in Nene and J.R., aka “inconsistency”, we’d like to get rid of from this team.

Unless Tyrus Thomas says, “I can accept a 7th-8th man Linas Kleiza role and be happy with it… whatever it takes for the Nuggets to win”, stay away from my team.

yeah...idk

for all the people who are tired of JR, you definitely dont want Tyrus Thomas. He’s a just a big who is probably more of a headcase with less explosiveness.

huge difference between chicago and denver

would you want john paxson calling the basketball shots for the nuggets? he took almost 60 days to come up with a coach and found vinny del negro. the lead assistant was bernie bickerstaff. one of the reasons del negro was not fired during the season was bickerstaff’s refusal to become the head coach if they got rid of del negro. one of paxson’s major deals was trading tyson chandler to nawlins for earl smith and p.j. brown. chicago never even worked smith out before trading him to denver for 2 second round draft picks and howard eisley. considering thomas lasted longer in chicago than smith did should tell you something. thomas was just a fall guy for a badly run franchise. chicago is where they are today due to incredible luck. they beat the odds to get derrick rose. without him where would the bulls be?

Hahah

Chicago “beat the odds” in getting the top draft pick for their hometown kid. Good one.

Plus Thomas supposdly has issues with authority

Hopefully he’ll grow out of it, but that’s been a recurring problem with his development. He hasn’t wanted to take instruction & follow direction.

We wouldnt benefit from Al Jefferson.

The way our team is set up. We need a big who doesnt really need the ball. Somebody who averages basically 20 and 10 (and is young) will get frustrated here because of our random basketball.

The prototype big man we need would be Pistons Rasheed Wallace. But…that guy doesnt exist anymore.

by GottaLoveMelo on May 28, 2010 7:04 AM MDT reply actions

I'll argue with that

I think that we need a big that can get a basket anytime in the post. Also, with teams doubling down on him, we have good enough shooters which will make us even harder to guard. I think that we’re a good offensive/defensive post player away from being a title contender. Unfortunately, post players usually come with one or the other and are hard to find.

+1 please stop bringing up Al Jefferson

that guy is the exact opposite of what we need. He is a black hole on offense and terrible on defense, which is precisely why they were starting Milicic along side him.

I would like us to acquire DeShawn Stevenson

if the price is right (I’m not sure what his contract is) and have him come off the bench and annoy and beat up on players a la Dahntay Jones for a few minutes a game.

by NugNugz on May 29, 2010 6:48 AM MDT reply actions

haha the funny thing is before we got Afflalo last year, i really wanted DeShawn... just cuz he's an annoying bitch

but he is such an idiot… like he has a 5 dollar bill tattoo and tattoo of crack on his forehead….
… should fit in perfectly here….

by hvino on May 29, 2010 6:42 PM MDT up reply actions

from back in 2008 before we got DJones:

Stevenson is shooting 32.0 percent from the field and 28.6 percent from three-point range, yet he plays 29.7 minutes per game and also starts every game. Consider this: Out of 44 shooting guards who have enough three-point attempts to qualify, Stevenson is ranked 42nd. If he was just shooting a few a game, it wouldn’t be a big deal; instead, of those same 44 players, Stevenson ranks 10th in three-pointers taken per game (4.7). So not only is he shooting a horrible percentage, but he also refuses to stop chucking them up.

Sound like anybody we know?

I guess at least JR starts killin’ it EVENTUALLY doesn’t sound like Stevenson ever does…

STIFF LIST (as of 4/26 by Andrew Feinstein)

1. METTA WORLD PEACE

Metta resorted back to Ron Ron last Sunday by clubbing James Hardenwith an "inadvertent celebratory elbow", landing him a 7-game suspension. Apparently, changing his name didn't prevent NBA commissioner David Stern from overlooking Metta's past behavior problems.

2. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS

The 'Cats are on the verge of securing the worst winning percentage in NBA history. Given that the guy who runs the team - Michael Jordan - had previously drafted Kwame Brown and Adam Morrison, should this really be a shock?

3. OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
The team that was supposedly built to overcome the lockout-shortened season managed to lose 7 of its last 14 games, ceding the Western Conference's 1-seed to the Spurs in the process. Their reward might be a first round matchup with defending champion Dallas.

4. BILLY HUNTER AND DEREK FISHER
With report after report coming out about NBPA union head Hunter's shady, nepotistic dealings and questions arising about Fisher's own role in dealing with NBA owners behind Hunter's back during the lockout, this off-the-court scandal could prove to be more exciting than the playoffs themselves!

5. STEVE NASH AND THE PHOENIX SUNS
The Suns are on this list for squandering the last few great seasons from Nash. Nash is on this list for his stupidly stubborn loyalty to a franchise as awful as the Suns.
