What We Know...What We Need to Do....No Excuses, the Time is  Now

WHAT WE KNOW: 1. Constant disrespect by national media. 2. We don't win when we do not pass the ball and drive to the hole. 3. The season is 82 games long.

WHAT WE NEED TO DO: 1.) Give up on the idea that the national media is going to give us credit. Lets face it, we Nuggets fans want to hear just somebody out there in the national media say something good about us because we see/know the potential in this team. Wouldn't it feel great to be given some respect around here...not going to happen. We are not going to ever get any respect until we get to the NBA Finals and win it all. If we so happen get that opportunity to make it this year, all we will likely hear is the media make up excuses on how the Lakers blew the big one because of some so called call. But until we win it all, it's going to be the same old story around here. To be honest, we do not deserve any credit unti that happens. 2.) When the Nuggets play as individuals, it's a bad site, and this past week we have had a lot of this. I don't get it, and apparently the Nugs don't get it either as they continue to play like this from time to time which leads me to #3. 3.) The season is 82 games long..... It is a grind and not a sprint as much as we all want to see it. We cannot expect perfection each night, and there are going to be nights like Monday in Phoenix that we cannot wait to soon forget. As a lifetime Nugs fan of 32 years, the potential here is something special and it's time for us as Nuggets fans, the Nuggets organization, and the players to get all on board the same Nugget train and take advantage of this great opportunity. As we know, what goes up, usually come down. With as tight as the Western Conference is again this year, it's easy to get caught up in the playoff positioning now.....

WHAT WE NEED TO DO: Is learn from champions of the past and know that when it comes playoff time, the time will be then to step up and make no excuses. With all hope, we will be the No. 2 Seed come season's end, but let's not panic if we are not. Every year has a different tune, and we know that this year's playoffs will be even tougher than last year's. Another reason why we have a subpar record against the bottom dwellers is because of last year, we are getting everybody's best this year. The Nugs have have the mental toughness to get where they belong, but they must not get caught up in all this pre-playoff hoopla. It has been surprising to see some teams out of the West step up this year as I would have never guessed after last year that they would be where they are now.. Dallas, Phoenix, Oklahoma City, and Portland. The bottom line is that the Nuggets know that they are the only team in the West that truly believes that they can beat the Lakers and they can. The rest will hope for some kind of miracle upset, and the only one's right now that have that chance are the Trailblazers. So to bring this thing to a close, the time is now for us to make a move..... Yes, that means you Nuggets Management....We need one more piece to that puzzle and that piece is another BIG MAN that nobody will come out to admit that we need. Yes, we are trying to woo the Big Man in Cleveland, but the chances get less and less as the start of March unfolds. I truly believe that piece is still out there and available to us this year. It doesn't have to be an Ilgauskas...What that piece must be though is the piece that wants to be here and that wil do whatever they can to help this team win. There is somethring truly special here, and it is something that we can turn into a dynasty if we want it to be. We are afterall, the NUGGETS and somewhere in there is the gold mine.

The TIME IS NOW NUGGETS FANS, NUGGETS MANAGEMENT AND NUGGETS PLAYERS....the championship is ours for the taking... Let's make it happen.....it's time to Lock Down and all be one TEAM!! Go Nuggets! WIN IT ALL FOR COACH KARL!

Write respectfully of your SB Nation community and yourself.

Excellent!

Since we’re past March 1, have we passed the point where someone we sign can play in the playoffs? Now that Shaq is out, possibly for the season due to a hand surgery, the Z singing is REALLY dead.

The March 1 deadline

A player can sign on with another team after March 1 and be eligible to play in the playoffs so long as he wasn’t on another teams roster after March 1.

"I know the game of basketball is one-on-one (oriented), but the pain of beating a defense by the pass — it confuses and frustrates the defense more than just going by a guy one-on-one." George Karl

Nuggets VP Mark Warkentien talks about trying to get a Big, Ilgauskas and...

http://www.fm1043thefan.com/

Unless a something got done before midnight having another Big for a playoff run isn’t going to happen. But it wasn’t for lack of trying. Chris Tomasson posted this on his twitter yesterday: “Nuggets are looking for a big man. They’ve also talked to Bartelstein about Mikki Moore. But everything still in preliminary stages.”

I won't hold my breath

but assuming they sign someone, who should it be? Blount? Dwayne Jones from the D league?

That four guard lineup last night really was a trip. A bad one. AC still sucks, and even if he doesn’t touch the ball he seems to suck the chemistry from the team when he’s out there. Malik Allen was pretty atrocious, too. What did Petro do to Karl, anyway? No burn time for him? At least he tries.

I hope the wheels aren’t falling off, but these losses and the banged up condition of our players is telling me otherwise.

Thanks NuggetsLife for the clarification

That helps. I thought there’s a way to still sign someone after March 1 and play in the post season.

The STIFF LIST (as of 7/26 by Nate)

STIFF #1: COLORADO ROCKIES
The Rox have lost eight of their last 10, including six in a row. During the six-game losing streak Colorado has been outscored 33-13 ... and they might soon be the reason by buddy Rory has a massive heart-attack. But there are still 63 games to go and an upcoming eight-game homestand is hopefully just what the team, and Rory, needs to turn things around.

STIFF #2: MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES/DAVID KAHN
Replacing a 24 year-old point guard with a 29 year-old point guard is just a sound NBA move ... uh? Kahn handed Ramon Sessions a 4-year $16 million contract last offseason and just gave the same deal to Luke Ridnour this offseason. In order to make room for Ridnour, Kahn shipped Sessions and young big man Ryan Hollins off to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Delonte West (who is still facing weapons-possession charges). Maybe Ricky Rubio will get to the T-Wolves before Ridnour's contract expires, but don't count on it.

STIFF #3: TRACY MCGRADY
McGrady has been shopping his services this offseason and after getting nibbles from the Lakers, Clippers, and most recently the Bulls ... T-Mac is still without an employer. The 31 year-old guard, with a rich injury history, apparently is not ready to accept a reduced role. Will McGrady's stubborness land him on a lottery team where he'll try to prove he can still be "the man" or will he accept being a role player and wind up in Chicago gunning for that elusive title?

STIFF #4: DANNY AINGE
The Celtics did lose defensive ace Tony Allen to the Memphis Grizzlies, but re-signing Marquis Daniels to a one-year $2.5 million deal is a little crazy. Daniels should be thanking agent Mark Bartelstein ... maybe the rapper can sing his agent a song. (Daniels is in the yellow shirt in the video)

STIFF #5: NUGGETS SLEEPING ON SIZE
The Nuggets decided to bring back Anthony Carter on a one-year $1.3 million deal. Do the Nuggets really need a third point guard heading into training camp over another big body? Check out some names still on the free-agent market: Louis Amundson (yes he'll require more money), Fabricio Oberto, Kwame Brown, Anthony Tolliver, DJ Mbenga, Nathan Jawai, Josh Boone, Kyrylo Fesenko, and Joey Graham. Denver still has the bi-annual exception to spend ... so maybe there is still hope of grabbing somebody.
