George Karl's treatment diary...
Nuggets head coach George Karl, his partner Kim and their young daughter Kaci Grace are keeping a running diary of Coach Karl's experiences as he undergoes painful, difficult and trying radiation treatment to eradicate the neck and throat cancer he's afflicted with. I encourage all readers of Denver Stiffs to check in on Coach Karl's story and lend their support to Karl and his family.

To Kaci Grace
I also asked Mommy why people keep sending well wishes to Daddy and they don’t to me and Mommy.
Best wishes to you and your mom.
George, Kim, Kobe and Kaci Grace
Keep your heads up, and just know that ALL of Nuggets Nation is behind you 100%. George has brought a bright hope to all Denver basketball fans, and has given us so much to cheer for. So now we’re all cheering for you Coach.
GET WELL SOON
GET WELL SOON
Absolutely correct

Proud member of Thuggetz nation.
Well that's the last time I try to encourage anybody
I should stick with being a jerk, it seems I can’t go wrong with that.

About the comment on hiccups: chemo gave me crazy hiccups too. The oncologist gave me an anti-spasmodic drug called baclofen that worked well. I wound up taking it before the chemo started to prevent the hiccups in the first place because the hiccups would come on every time if I didn’t.
That’s one thing about being on chemo, you wind up taking a lot of other drugs just to cope with the drugs you are taking.

To George, Kim, Coby and Kaci
George – My wife and I met you and your family at DIA as you were leaving for Dallas and the All-Star game. While we were on the train my wife had commented that you should give Ty more minutes. I wish we had known about your diagnosis so that we could have given you our well-wishes in person. As much as we love the Nuggets and the game of basketball there are always things that are more important and we truly do wish you the best.
Kim – I was reading through the diary and am truly amazed at everything that you are able to accomplish. Cancer is not a disease that affects only one person, but whole families and George’s ability to cope through this ordeal is a testament to your strength. Don’t forget to take care of yourself as well!
Coby – You know the drill better than most and sometimes I’m sure it was easier (for you) when it was your cancer and not your dad’s. Be there for him and let him be there for you.
Kaci – I saved the most important one for last. Kaci, don’t forget that your job right now is to be a kid. I know that sometimes it seems like the world can be a scary place but it’s big and beautiful as well. I’m sure you’ve seen all the medicine that your daddy has been taking, but you know what the best cure is? Kisses. Lots and lots of kisses. Your daddy will be feeling better in no time!
I truly do wish you and your family the best and a speedy recovery!
