this week's schedule

Nuggets get a huge break this week.

After the game in Houston on Monday Night:

Tuesday Night: against the Wizards in Denver. Wizards coming off a Monday night game in Utah.

Thursday Night: home against the Hornets. Hornets coming off a (late) wednesday night game in Golden State

Saturday Night: Home against Milwaukee. Bucks coming off a Friday night game in Sacramento.

That's three consecutive home games against three teams coming off back to backs on the road, TRAVELING EAST. I don't see how the Nuggets lose any of these games.

Me neither.

Good research.

I mentioned this in the other thread, but Washington is going to be super exhausted and playing at altitude. They have a five games in six nights because of a game having to be rescheduled when Washington DC was snowed under.

Since Denver will be playing in Houston the night before, I say Denver should just sit the starters that game and give the bench much needed experience. Yes. I want Karl to start Balkman on Tuesday.

We should beat those teams even if they had 5 days of rest

this just makes it even more necessary….why am I worried the Nugs will struggle to win one of these games?

No struggle

Only semi-tough game of the week is in Houston. Nugs will be rested though so they damn well better win that game in Houston too.

I just hope the Lakers drop 1 or 2 games this week. I haven’t looked at their schedule for the week but my buddy said they have a pretty easy schedule for the week too. Maybe the Nugs get lucky and the Lakers drop a game to put the Nugs back just 2.

Fuck the Mavs too. Who gets blown out by the Knicks at home after beating them by more than 50 earlier in the year? Fucking laughable team the Mavs are. People that are scared of them need to rethink that position.

Lakers have a tough road trip after next week

this week they play at GS at Sacto and host Minny and Wsh…so 4-0 there. I still believe the Nugs will go 3-0 on the home stand but I can see one of them being closer than it should, probably the Bucks game.

May be close but there will never be any doubt that the Nugs will win

Teams on back to backs coming into The Can don’t have a chance.

You have gotta be the Nuggets' biggest fan

Although I also hope that the Nuggets will pull off 32 straight, I don’t see that happening.

We could have trouble against Houston, but hopefully not. Given the urgency of all of these games, the Nugs should be disappointed if they don’t take them all. (Winning a few of those early season gimmes they blew would really have come in handy now.)

Over the same stretch, Dallas faces only two possible threats: Boston, who is looking pretty feeble but do match up and could possibly uncork some grit and steal one; and away against Portland.

Dallas is still a weak team, despite their recent string of victories. And although last night was a grudge game for NY, the fact that even the Nicks have no fear of them says something.

With any luck, Lawson will be returning soon, giving our beastly bench even more weaponry. Petro/Allen/Graham are doing quite nicely in Martins absence.

The real test will come on our next road trip, which concludes against Dallas on the second of a back-to-back. Only Orlando and Dallas seem like real trouble on the trip, and perhaps Boston. We will probably need to take 4 of those 5 games to have any chance of staying ahead of Dallas in the standings.

Lawson may be in the process of losing his job as the back up point

AC has been remarkable in his absense and a lot better than Ty was for the few weeks leading up to his injury. I hope that he doesn’t lose his job though because I really think he will provide value against the Lakers in the playoffs.

Karl likes to go small

…. in part because Andersen offers some of the best help defense in the league. And Ty Lawson is actually really damn good in the post. AC, not so much.

We should sign Spud Webb back from the dead and replace JR with him

So that our center would be 6’5" and 215 lbs….

I think it will be about match-ups

Certain game situations will benefit from having the speedy Lawson who is best when he can penetrate and dish. Other lineups will benefit AC, who is thriving in his roll as a facilitator at passing the ball to his benchmates Andersen and Smith.

Also: knowing coach Karl, a lineup with both Lawson and Carter wouldn’t surprise me in the least.

What I would truly prefer is to see Billups minutes go down to the 20, 25 minute mark per game to keep him rested for the long playoff push.

However

Karl isn’t really a good rotation guy. He finds his lineups that work and sticks with them, sometimes to the detriment of the team. Hopefully he will realize that AC will work against some teams but definitely not against the Lakers. Lawson may not work against others though, so I feel for him in having to make this decision.

STIFF LIST (as of 2/7 by Andrew Feinstein)

1. THE NUGGETS AT HOME
How is it possible that a Nuggets team with this much talent can be 7-5 at home?! Things have gotten so bad that fans are clamoring for J.R. Smith to return.

2. CARMELO ANTHONY
Kobe Bryant plays through any and all ailments. Melo uses any and ailments as an excuse not to play.

3. KEVIN LOVE
Just when the T'Wolves are looking better, Love stomps on Luis Scola and lands himself a two-game suspension.

4. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS
The 'Cats have lost 11 straight and are now 3-21 ... in the Eastern Conference! This is what happens when you let an underwear salesman with a Hitler mustache run your team.

5. MIKE BROWN
Dr. Bunsen Honeydew (Google it!) got himself a one-game suspension for making contact with a referee.
