Mr. Billups officially an All Star

I know we all kind of expected this, but there were some rumblings of Monta Ellis and Chris Kaman ... but in the end Chauncey won... even though he shoulda been on it when the reserves were announced, he finally is getting his due...

Star-divide

Good to see the Nuggets get 2 representatives at the All-Star game.

By the way, anyone know when they announce the 3 point shootout contestants? It's kinda boring, but i would watch if we have a Nugg in the competiition. I heard karl say  he was mad about Ty Lawson not making the rookie game, Billups not making the all star team and Afflalo not in the shootout... so maybe he knows, my guess is JR has a chance to be in it.

That should be 75 words now.

Hey, in case anyone needs a good reason to watch All-Star weekend

In February 2008, Chauncey Billups participated in the Haier Shooting Stars Challenge as a member of the Detroit team.

In November of that same year, Billups was traded to Denver for Allen Iverson.

In February 2009, Arron Afflalo participated in the Haier Shooting Stars Challenge as a member of the Detroit team.

In July of that same year, Afflalo was traded to Denver for a draft pick.

So…let’s keep an eye on who Detroit sends to the Shooting Stars Challenge this year (if indeed they are participating again).

Yet another "Nugget" will now be in All-Star Weekend....

Adrian Dantley will be the head coach of the Rookie Team on All-Star Friday, his assistant coach will be Kevin Durant.

Please god no

I wonder what the dude’s IQ is, I am almost positive it is abnormally low…

by Gasus on Feb 3, 2010 3:43 PM MST up reply actions

I don't know his BBall IQ

But I do know that in his playing career, he had an incredible knack for getting to the foul line. Seriously, there were months where he’d get 15-20 FT attempts every game.

If Karl knows his players...

He plays Melo decent minutes because Melo will want to bask in the attention and glow of the game and duel against LeBron.

But with Chauncey he doesn’t play much at all, knowing his star point guard is simply honored to be there but more concerned about saving his energy for a title run.

Denver, with the third best record in the league clearly deserves to have multiple players honored.

Congrats, Mr. Billups. You deserve it.

I don't know

Melo is questionable (AGAIN) for this game.

Melo and Chauncey should be playing minimal minutes...

That has nothing to do with their abilities I really think they could both use the rest. Ideally Karl should play Kobe every minute of the game and set him up to post up against dwight howard every time down the court…that would be hilarious….you know…if plays were actually called in th AS game and if …you know….GK ever called plays.

Karl and whoever is coaching the East should have a deal

To bring the game into like 4 or 5 overtimes. It would definitely make the front page of every major sports network, and Kobe would have to play 68-73 minutes, unless he purposely fouls himself out. But he’s not that smart.

OK, I can’t wait until Lawson sneaks into the RookieChallenge!

Chauncey should skip it

citing he has important and relevant things to worry about.

Eh.

Billups wasnt as major a snub as Josh Smith in the east…or David Lee. Al Horford made the team? Bleh! So that was soooo bad.

Lawson. Yes, he should be mad about that. Ty deserves it!

Afflalo? Damn, I just checked his stats. Didnt realize he was stroking it at the clip that he currently is. WOW! His slow, mechanical form has no place in that type of contest tho.

David Lee and Josh Smith

Smith has more athleticism, but David Lee is much more consistent, he’s getting over 11 rebounds per game, and he’s getting nearly 20 points per game. Smith may be better defensively, but Lee has the edge offensively.

STIFF LIST (as of 2/7 by Andrew Feinstein)

1. THE NUGGETS AT HOME
How is it possible that a Nuggets team with this much talent can be 7-5 at home?! Things have gotten so bad that fans are clamoring for J.R. Smith to return.

2. CARMELO ANTHONY
Kobe Bryant plays through any and all ailments. Melo uses any and ailments as an excuse not to play.

3. KEVIN LOVE
Just when the T'Wolves are looking better, Love stomps on Luis Scola and lands himself a two-game suspension.

4. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS
The 'Cats have lost 11 straight and are now 3-21 ... in the Eastern Conference! This is what happens when you let an underwear salesman with a Hitler mustache run your team.

5. MIKE BROWN
Dr. Bunsen Honeydew (Google it!) got himself a one-game suspension for making contact with a referee.
