JR being JR
Wed Feb 24,2010 12:48 PM ET By Rob Mahoney
It takes a certain confidence for an opposing player to snipe at the indisputable Western Conference favorite Los Angeles Lakers, and something between arrogance and complete stupidity for an opposing player to take a shot at Kobe Bryant. If that's not a cue for the Nuggets' J.R. Smith, then I don't know what is. Here's what Smith had to say about Kobe on Twitter (via the OC Register): "Dont get me wrong kobe is great but not when he play me"
Not only is Kobe one of the best players in the league, but he's competitive beyond belief and just about the last guy on the planet that you'd want to give bulletin board material to. Considering the Nuggets and Lakers could very well have a date in the Western Conference Finals, I wouldn't say it's the smartest thing in the world to give Bryant extra motivation...especially considering Smith's fleeting interest in defense.
And for the record, Kobe is averaging 26 points (46.2% FG, 45.5% 3FG), six rebounds, and an assist against Denver. That's technically a notch below his season averages of 28.0 points (46.5% FG, 35.5% 3FG), 5.4 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game, though Bryant is averaging three less shot attempts per game against the Nuggets.

Not sure BB material matters in this match-up . .
I think Kobe doesn’t have any trouble getting up the for the Nugs . . .pretty sure he going to bring it even if all of the Denver players spent a week telling him how cute, smart, and advanced his kids are and what a dedicated, faithful, pretty wife he has.
But there isn’t much else to say beside, JR being JR.
Haha this is funny
He’s not doin anything wrong. JR is all about conidence. If he has confidence against Kobe and LA then thats nothing but good for Denver.

JR went live last night
i watched for about 5 minutes but it was too boring. he was streaming himself getting tatt’d up. pretty classic.
also,
this is what he tweeted prior to that:
“this dude kobe is the shit i cant lie”
“Dont get me wrong kobe is great but not when he play me”
and then all the haters came, so his reply was this:
“lol here comes the hate! Yes! thank you ill take all the haters”
“dont want to be kobe im cool wit being me!”

I like it
JR has typically been at his best against the Lakers, and we’re well past the stage where either side gets anything out of bulletin board material. The “don’t want to be Kobe” attitude is part of what I love about this team.
+1

To add on
My cousin is working as an intern for physical theoropy and she got on with Kobe’s personal trainer. During the off season Kobe works out at a high school near his home. When he goes to work out the entire school is closed off, no teachers working nothing but him, his agent, his PT and my cousin. When he was done he would walk out and there would always be a line of about 20-30 kids anywhere from 8 years old to 18. No media, nothing. They all wait in a line hoping Kobe would sign an autograph. Every day Kobe would walk out the school with his $1000 Gucci glasses (he made my cousin clean them while he was practicing) and not look at the kids. He acted as if they didn’t exist.
Now I know ppl want their privacy, but this ain’t media, this ain’t people lookin to harm you, these are kids who look up to Kobe as an Idol and he treats em like that. He’s a D Bag. Doesn’t care about anyone but himself. My cousin is a die hard Laker fan but she HATES Kobe with a passion.

A Laker fan hating Kobe?
That’s a first for me, but from you said, I’m not surprised. It makes me hate him even more.
People spend their hard earned money and they blow it on a jersey from a complete asshole who won’t acknowledge a loyal fan.
Yea that's what he is man
Most people don’t know how he is outside of basketball b/c he tries to keep so secluded

The kids or the fans?
When you’re a kid, you (or maybe your parents) like to have people to look up to. He’s part of the All-NBA Douche Team:
Kobe Bryant
LeBron James
Paul Pierce
Ron Artest
Gilbert Arenas/Stephen Jackson/Allen Iverson (Choose one of the three)
Honorary Member: Stephon Marbury.
And I don’t care if that roster is heavy on guards and small forwards.

Love it.
I love JR talking like this. I hope he does get in Kobe’s head (doubt he will). I would love to see 2004ish Kobe who jacks a bunch a crazy shots. 30 shots to get 30 points and stuff.
We dont fear the Lakers!
remember that game when he dropped 81 and everybody screamed MVP?
Does anybody also remember how he shot like 38% from the field in the next 6 games or so…
Oh wait. Nobody does because sites like ESPN kiss Kobe’s ass
