it will be hard for me to have a good day after this one…really wanted Thomas on the team.
although he is a good player
I think he showed everyone that he can be a locker room destroyer
No thanks I say.
Bring on Big Z!
Just another thought, Think the Net would part of Lopez?
No way they're giving up Lopez
that’s their one untouchable. You need to get that out of your mind.
The Nets are building around Lopez ... they even are considering moving Devin Harris.
Lopez is not going anywhere … unless you mention #15 and that ain’t happening.

What the hell?
I just don’t get it. First the Bulls declined because they didn’t want “expirings”, yet turn around and trade Salmons for them, then they go ahead and trade Thomas for this crap? Murray and Law are complete scrubs and I would think that if we offered them Petro, Grahm and Allen or Balkman, it would have been a much better deal for them. I don’t know, I just don’t get why would couldn’t make it happen. He would have been great here in Denver.
"Jive turkey is a little over the line my man!"
yeah i think the bobcats offered them a middle or even lottery pick (if they miss the playoffs) in this years draft. all we had was early 2nd round
but in terms of the actual players involved in this trade, I think you’re right. Murray’s had his years, but he certainly isn’t worth more than a Graham and Balkman combo. Though i like Law, he hasn’t done crap.
It just seems like
For one mid round draft pick we could have got him. No we don’t have first rounders to offer, but we have a lot better players. Idk, I just think if our FO really wanted to get this done they could have.

The Bobcats future first round pick was more attractive as Denver can’t deal a first-rounder until 2012 (because you can’t trade first round picks in consecutive years).
Also, the Bulls are just trying to clear cap space and they will now be able to maybe have this roster next season:
PG: Derrick Rose
SG: Dwayne Wade
SF: Luol Deng
PF: Chris Bosh
C: Joakim Noah
Bench: Taj Gibson and others.
They also might be able to replace the name Dwayne Wade with LeBron James.

The bulls have room for only one max contract free agent. rose wade noah and deng would be formidable but id raher have bosh if im the bulls(lesser player…better fit)

Yes, I believe they had to deal Hinrich in order to have enough room for two max free-agents.
And with the Lakers apparently standing pat that Chicago dream might be over …

I was reading on Hollinger’s chat that the Nuggs will probably offer him the full $2 million bi-annual, not sure if that’ll be enough to pull him from Cleveland – guess we’ll find out.
I highly doubt that the Cavs didn’t have a talk with Z before dealing him, but like it has already been pointed out on here … there isn’t going to be too much playing time for Z with the Cavs with Jamison on board now. Z was averaging 20 minutes a night before he was traded.

playing time
How much playing time could the Nuggets realistically offer him? I would think not very much, but I probably don’t know what I’m talking about.
Quite frankly, if it were up to me, I’d just throw in the towel.

You are right on here ...
This has been my biggest issue with the Nuggets acquiring another big man and this is precisely why Channing Frye chose Phoenix over the Nuggets.
Right now Denver has a three-man big rotation of Nene, K-Mart and Bird (obviously).
During a given game there are 96 minutes to go around between the PF and C spots … right now it breaks down this way:
Nene averages: 33
K-Mart averages: 35
Birdman averages: 22
(that adds up to 90 minutes).
Ideally I’d like to see Nene and K-Mart average closer to 30 minutes a night and Bird 15-20 … so that would leave about 15-20 to another big.
The big window though … Birdman and K-Mart are both dealing with knee tendinitis and it’d be nice to give them some nights off, so another big might be able to get more minutes than we think.
Just imagine adding another big that would allow the Nuggets to get some much needed rest to Bird and Kenyon … playoff magic right there!

It wasnt that they didn't want expirings...
The Bulls didnt want just expiring contracts. The word on the Thomas front was the Bulls said they wanted expiring contracts and a 1st round pick.
Murray and Law are irrelevant just like Allen, Graham and whoever else would’ve been irrelevant. The only value they brought to the table were their expiring contracts. Whoever the Bulls acquired would either be gone next week or gone at the end of the year.
And the Nuggets chose to trade their 1st round pick during the offseason solely to dump salary, not to improve the roster.
That’s the sad state of affairs in the NBA today.
Darko to Timberwolves for Brian Cardinal
That shores up Minny’s front court if they wanted to move someone like Kevin Love…. At first I thought of this jokingly, but now I don’t know based on what crazyman Kahn is saying:
Milicic has played in just eight games this season for the Knicks. He is averaging just 2.0 points and has not played since Nov. 13. Kahn hopes he doesn’t bolt to Europe.
“I hope he will give it one more shot,” Kahn said. “Even if he ends up returning to Europe, I hope he wants to end his NBA career on a positive note. In our situation, he’ll play.”
Could the Nugs pull in Love?
by Artimus Mangilord on Feb 18, 2010 11:36 AM MST reply actions
No chance the Wolves part with Love for anything except a true rotational Nuggets player.
Milicic wants to return to Serbia (supposedly) and the “experts” are saying this is a waste of a trade. I don’t know if Darko will even suit up for the Wolves this season and he’s been quoted as saying the NBA is full of liars and such … guy wants out!
Denver Stiffs.com: Defending the sovereignty of Nuggets Nation.
by Nate Timmons on Feb 18, 2010 11:41 AM MST up reply actions
There's nobody on the Nugs
that the Wolves would trade Love for. Take Melo out of the equation because he’s in an entirely different universe. Objectively look at everybody else on the roster? If you were trading Love would you take them back? Not me, not even Nene. Love is younger & plays smarter; he’s becoming a better player than Nene.
i wish
But even kahn can’t be that dumb…

Thanks, Nate
I knew you’d have some good wisdom to impart on that. All I can say is, Thank you, Darko! You single handedly altered the course of our franchise! Have fun with the floppers in Europe.

McGrady now a Knick...
Breakdown
Knicks get:
Tracy McGrady
Sergio Rodriguez
Kings get:
Carl Landry
Joey Dorsey
Larry Hughes
Rockets get:
Kevin Martin (the other K-Mart)
Jordan Hill
Jared Jeffries
The right to swap picks with the Knicks in 2011 (Top 1 protected)
The Knicks 1st Round Pick in 2012 (Top 5 protected)
I like this trade for the Rockets future. Hill could turn into a player and a banger, Martin is a nice offensive addition to go alongside Brooks and the picks could turn into some nice players with how bad the Knicks will be if they fail to land LeBron, Bosh or Wade.

Can we be the Third Team on this trade?
I’ve read on ESPN that Utah and Miami need a Third team to complete de Boozer deal.
What about:
Miami acquire: Boozer
Utah acquire: Q. Richardson and R. Balkman
Nuggets acquire: J Magloire and Joel Antony expirings contracts.
It works on trade machine: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ylbbuvs
This season the ESPN Brazil didn’t broadcast any Miami games, so i’m no shure if Magloire and Antony could improve our hoster.
Greetings From Rio, Raphael
I have no idea either

Wallace only signed for $1.3 million.
I wonder if Detroit just wants to let him retire as a Piston and that might be his wish as well.
I don’t see his size being able to help much and his offensive game is atrocious and that’s without talking about his free throw shooting. His rebounding and limited minutes could provide some rest, but I’m assuming the Pistons are just going to let him retire as a Piston, unless he okayed a deal to Dumars (sort of how Dumars consulted Billups on a trade before it went down.)

I'm not too sure ... only speculation on my part, but some buyouts could include:
Kurt Thomas of the Bucks (his $3.8 mil expires in the offseason).
Mikki Moore is still out there as a free agent I think.
Tony Battie in New Jersey ($6.2 mil expires in the offseason)
along with Big Z and maybe Gooden.
None of those guys really excite me and with the Nuggets going after Tyrus Thomas it’s obvious they were looking for a younger and athletic big.

They would most likely have to play the Cavs, who are just getting better. That worries me…. a lot!
I've got a feeling the Cavs are over-rated....
altho the addition of Jamison is a big time one(love his game). I think they are putting too much on Shaq and the rest of Lebrons supporting cast (i.e. trash). If Z indeed does come back I will be more scared of them. Have to wait and see on that I guess.

Nah, Jamison is HUGE
I would have agreed before the Jamison deal but since that happened I think they are destined for the title this year. They now have Shaq (although old he stills not letting Dwight, Pau or KG go off) who’s one of the best Cs of all time, Mo Willimas who’s one of the best shooters in the leauge and an All-Star and Jamison who’s also a multi time All-Star and one of the best PFs in the league. You throw in the best player in the game right now and a great bench and I think the Cavs are primed. Lebron just won’t let what happened last year happen again.

Mostly I'm worried about Dallas
Yeah they mashed the Suns last night on a second game of a back to back, but they are TOUGH inside with Haywood, Damp and Nowitzki now. That’s three players who could play a starting C (Dirk less so, but you know whwat I mean) on any team in the NBA as well as an accomplished SF in Marion, sixth man in Terry, and dedicated scorer in Caron Butler. Shit.
And this is of course to say nothing of the fleecing the LeBrons did of the Wizards. Antwan Jamison for literally NOTHING? What a joke. This is to speak nothing of Utah, who has won 11 of 12 and are only 1 game back of the Nuggets as of today. Good thing we hold the tiebreaker, huh?
I support the Nuggets 100%, but I really don’t know given the excessive stacked talent aagainst us if we are really going to be able to compete with some of these teams down the stretch.

I’d just be glad that our future is no longer filled with mediocre seasons/teams, and we possibly have a future.
If I was a season ticket holder though, I’d be pissed. It wouldn’t be as bad though if Arenas was playing. :P
I have to agree here. I really wouldn’t be that upset about blowing up my team.
Sure they didn’t turn Butler or Jamison into anything asset wise … uh, maybe I would be a little depressed because basketball wont be good in D.C. for a while, but really … they were never better than a 6th seed.

Right guys....we need to refocus on tonights game
Now’s the time for the Nuggets to prove us wrong about needing another big.

Nuggets stood pat if that’s what you’re asking. Other than that … BIG GAME TONIGHT in Cleveland!

We may not have done anything but let's not forget the Lakers didn't either
so the same teams who have matched up twice this year will match up in the WCF if we get there and I can live with that.
March 14, 2010: The great one returns!
Lets just hope
Gooden and Big Z both get bought out and Denver lands one. I don’t care which one… just one!

I don't care too much for Gooden
He always looked goofy and awkward as a ball player. Kinda like a newborn calf wobbling around and what not. And WTF was up with that rat tail he was growing in his days with the Cavs? that’s why they lost tp the Magic IMO.

Haha
cuz of Goodens rat tail on his face? The pirates of the Carrabean look? Haha he’s cleaned up this year with Dallas. He prob lost a bet to Bron and had to grow that in Clev.

He was growing that Duck Tail thing on the back of his head one year ...
He said he grew it b/c,
I understand the reason you grew the ducktail is because you’re a big fan of the ’80s.
Yes, I’m a big fan of the ‘80s. I’m an ’80s baby.
Full story on Gooden here … pretty interesting read.

You’ve been flat out killin it over here all day.
A little rudeness and disrespect can elevate a meaningless interaction to a battle of wills and add drama to an otherwise dull day.

The problem with the Nuggets plan to stand pat...
is last year even though they were the 2nd seed, they were in a 3-way tie (54 wins) and got the 2nd seed via tie breaker. The #5 seed was only 1game back at 53 wins. That’s a very thin margin to stand pat on & hope your team improves.
Back in October I predicted 55 wins & likely make it to the conference finals before losing. That prediction still looks strong though I’d love to be wrong.
To me the 3 top title contenders are Lakers (far & away), Cleveland & Boston (if they can patch Garnett together long enough). I think I’d put Denver at #4. I’m not worried about Orlando though Dallas concerns me if they get in synch. Plus never rule out the Spurs until they are officially done & gone…. 4 rings still says a lot.
So who do you think are the most nervous fans tonite? I’m thinking the Miami Heat fans. Has D-Wade already started packing his bags?
I'm content
Let’s see what happens come playoff time. Personally I like our team as-is. Gives us a little bit of flexibility this summer.
