Gawker password database theft

I have heard a number of people on this site quote from Deadspin.com.  If you did not know this, Deadspin, Fleshbot, Gizmodo, io9, Jalopnik, Jezebel, Kotaku and Lifehacker = Gawker.com

Why am I telling you this?  On December 13th, Gawker.com admitted that their central database repository was compromised.  Even worse, the database was encrypted in a low level, old encryption algorithm (DES), which I could crack with my laptop.  Even more worse is that once this password database was quickly and easily unencrypted, it was then posted as a torrent on the world wide interwebs.

What this means to you...

If you have an account on one of these sites: Deadspin, Fleshbot, Gizmodo, io9, Jalopnik, Jezebel, Kotaku and Lifehacker,Gawker, your username and password has been compromised.  There is nothing you can do about that part.  However, if you used that same username/password combination anywhere else, I suggest you change it immediately.

Thanks and Go Nuggets!
