Around SBN: Kobe Bryant Will Never Top Michael Jordan

Would Philly dump Iggy for cap relief?

If so, then why not do something like this?

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=28hhaod

A three-way trade with New Jersey and Philadelphia.

Nuggets get: Derrick Favors, Andre Iguodala, Marreese Speights.

Nets get: Carmelo Anthony, Renaldo Balkman.

Philadelphia gets: Troy Murphy, Shelden Williams.

Denver finally gets rid of Melo, inevitably parting with Balkman and Williams to even out the numbers, while gaining young prospect Favors and a solid scorer in Iggy along with Mareese Speights (don't know too much about him? but he has put up solid numbers in the past) who can be a decent C allowing Nene to play his natural 4 spot. Then there's the picks that NJ just recently picked up.

New Jersey finally gets Melo.

Philly dumps Iggy's contract while gaining a big fat expiring in Troy Murphy, perhaps also getting one of the 1st rounders picked up by NJ to make it more alluring. This one is a legit salary dump. But the pick could help them build for the future as they mould their team around Evan Turner.

What you guys reckon?

This is with the mindest of remaining in contention!

Would Iggy be enough? Taking into account the other options. As well as losing Melo for nada, ala LeBron.

Nuggets don't want A.I. 2.0

They’ve said they don’t want him or essentially anyone not on a rookie contract.

This is Denver's stance on Iggy

Iggy is locked up for a few more years at 10-12 mil per year. Denver is thinking is Iggy really the player we want to give that money too and build around? Is he the go-to-guy? Personally Iggy would be a very good second or third option to a team. I don’t know if he could produce under the “go-to-guy” anymore than he is right now in Philly. I just don’t think Iggy is an option for Denver. I think he’s a good player and like him, I just don’t think he’s going to Denver.

Agree with Garrett

Iggy can actually step in and potentially fill Melo’s role and fit in the rest of our pieces. But, will we have the rest of those pieces after this year? No, likely not in any scenario. That means we get half a season to see if it makes us a great team but we’re stuck paying Iggy tens of millions three years down the line when who knows what our team will look like. Great player just bad timing all around.

I am naturally skeptical when it comes to the Nugs and a life without Melo, so my brain immediately says full rebuild – young versatile players at every position and incredibly flexible and active in terms of trades, drafts, and free agent signings.

However, GN and Garrett and some others bring up the idea of Melo leaving and the remaining talent here remaining a playoff team. More I think about ti I actually think I could see it happen. What’s our biggest problem? It’s depth and not talent. If you get 2 or 3 contributing players back for Melo (not stars, not great players… contributors) then we still make a successful season and run to the playoffs – I’m coming around to that possibility. Especially, because Kenyon might be able to turned into something more useful by the deadline if Melo is already gone by then and the process has started. Then, we will be alot younger and possibly have bypassed the need to go through years of betting big on the draft, making a ton of trades and suffering deep in the dregs of the lottery. Won’t be easy – but I could actually see it happening IF you get the right players for Melo who fit this team. We are a flawed team yes – but we also have a lot more here than just Melo

I dont think that is enough return for iggy

I could see one player on a rookie deal and a player on a expiring contract, maybe a pick, getting the job done. I could see Curry, Gallo and a 1st for Iggy and a 2nd going down if the knicks miss out on melo. The nuggets would not take on that bad paper, but I’d bet this would be an option (that we wouldnt take) if we traded with the knicks.

STIFF LIST (as of 4/26 by Andrew Feinstein)

1. METTA WORLD PEACE

Metta resorted back to Ron Ron last Sunday by clubbing James Hardenwith an "inadvertent celebratory elbow", landing him a 7-game suspension. Apparently, changing his name didn't prevent NBA commissioner David Stern from overlooking Metta's past behavior problems.

2. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS

The 'Cats are on the verge of securing the worst winning percentage in NBA history. Given that the guy who runs the team - Michael Jordan - had previously drafted Kwame Brown and Adam Morrison, should this really be a shock?

3. OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
The team that was supposedly built to overcome the lockout-shortened season managed to lose 7 of its last 14 games, ceding the Western Conference's 1-seed to the Spurs in the process. Their reward might be a first round matchup with defending champion Dallas.

4. BILLY HUNTER AND DEREK FISHER
With report after report coming out about NBPA union head Hunter's shady, nepotistic dealings and questions arising about Fisher's own role in dealing with NBA owners behind Hunter's back during the lockout, this off-the-court scandal could prove to be more exciting than the playoffs themselves!

5. STEVE NASH AND THE PHOENIX SUNS
The Suns are on this list for squandering the last few great seasons from Nash. Nash is on this list for his stupidly stubborn loyalty to a franchise as awful as the Suns.
