Lawson's Opportunity
Lets all get past the Melo Drama BS for a little bit and look at one of the Nugget's future up and coming stars that has shown no intentions on leaving Denver anytime soon. According to numerous reports, Chauncey Billups will miss this week (the next three games) to rest his injured wrist.
The next three games are home against Orlando, San Antonio and Minnesota. Ty will get to showcase his skills against two of the premier PG's in the league in Jameer Nelson and Tony Parker. I think Denver fans will get a good look at how good this team could possibly be past the Billups era.
Jameer Nelson vs. Ty Lawson should be a nice showing. Nelson has size on Lawson so we will see how well he plays Nelson defensively but I am very excited to see a much faster paced offense ran with Ty against the Magic. The faster Denver plays, the better because it basically eliminates Dwight Howard from the defensive equation if Denver is running and scoring fast break points. It should be interesting to see how Ty distributes the rock to Nene while he's battling against Dwight.
The matchup I am most excited for is Ty vs. Parker. Two small, quick point guards battling it out. I think Ty will be able to keep Parker in check, even more so than Billups could. Parker is just too quick for Billups and I think Ty starting will give Denver a better shot at winning. It could be a PG marathon with the two collecting steals, and running a fastbreak offense.
With two tough games coming up, Ty will have the opportunity to show his teamates, his coaches and the organization that he really is the PG of the future. I hope he comes through and plays to his potential in the next three games. Give us Nugget fans something to look forward to Ty. We need it!

Jameer Nelson.
He’s about…5’11. I wouldnt say he has any size on Ty Lawson at all. He’s smaller than Deron Williams who still thinks he can use his “size” to post up or muscle Lawson.
I think
Jameer is more about 6’1 and Ty is 6’10… ESPN says Ty is 5’11 and Jameer is 6’0 but he looked bigger than Ty to me.

Kinda funny b/c Parker and Nelson are the two PGs that Ty reminds me of...
Should be a good test, and he’s had a good start so far against JAmeer (and had some great drives)…
That he did

lawson played very well last night
hope he keeps it up. chauncey needs to sit out and get himself right cause at his current level he just hurts us. this is lawson’s opportunity to shine.
Ty Lawson has a great future
and we are very lucky to have him. He’ll get his shot blocked every once and a while but some of those drives are awesome. No one can keep up with him.
