Billups not on All-Star team
The reserves for the All-Star game in Dallas have just been revealed.
Chauncey Billups did not make the team.
There is no way that Zach Randolph or Pau Gasol are more deserving of a spot than Billups if you ask me.
First, we learn that Ty Lawson won't play in the Rookie/Sophomore game, now this. If it weren't for the fan votes 'Melo probably would have been left of the team as well.
A fucking joke...

I saw this coming
Kaman is more deserving than Gasol and Chucey is more than Gasol, D-Will and CP3. I think D Will should have got it over CP3. The Hornets suck and deserve no all stars. Durant deserved it, Dirk deserved it, I think Randolph did as well.
I am happy to see Wallace and Joe Johnson to make it in the East. I was afraid one or both would be left off the team.

I've been saying that he wasnt gonna make it.
Its not like he was Durant or Dirk and an absolute lock. Not surprised. He didnt outright most definitely deserve to be there. Who out of the reserves does he deserve it over? Maybe Pau. But if you dont give it to Pau then Kaman gets his spot anyways so…MAYBE CP3. But ehh…not surprised.
Just happy Deron Williams finally got some love.

+1 on the D-Will thing
Though I think now that he has made an appearance he should be a lock for the next 7-8 years, or while he is still putting up numbers at least.
But WTF!? Derrick Rose and Al Horford? You have got to be f*ing kidding me?!?! I kind of saw the Rondo pick coming as everyone seems to be riding his nuts for some reason. The dude can’t even shoot! But Rose and Horford just blew me away. I could kind of see how Horford might get some love since he’s on one of the best teams in the league, but what about Josh Smith? He’s having 10 times a better season than Horford. I’m happy for Gerald Wallace and Randolph though. Those dudes def deserved it.

Billups doesn't deserve the allstar spot more than just about every player on the team?
Since when doesn’t the NBA vote in more than one player from the conference finals team? Since when does the team in second place in the conference not get 2 or more players? Fucking sickening. The 2nd best record in the conference doesn’t send their leader to the show!

Billups' snub ...
I don’t agree that Billups should be left off the all star team. But in the West … man, it’s tough to get there! A lot of talented point guards out West with Steve Nash, Deron Williams, Chris Paul, Jason Kidd, Billups, Andre Miller and more …
Deron Williams: 41 games, 19 points and 9.5 assists. Team went 2-2 in games he missed. He’s led his team to a 25-16 record when he’s played. Shoots 49% from the field and 38% from deep.
Chris Paul: 37 games, 20.5 points and 11.1 assists. Team went 4-4 in games he missed. He’s led his team to a 21-16 record when he plays. Shoots 50% from the field and 41.1% from deep.
Chauncey Billups: 37 games, 19.2 points (career high) and 5.9 assists. Team went 3-6 in games he missed (played just the first half versus the Blazers in a loss). He’s led his team to a 28-8 record in games he has played. Shoots 42% from the field and 41% from deep.
There is no question that all three guys mean a whole lot to their teams, but Billups has both guys beat in win totals and that means more to me than anything else.

I think the coaches had a bias
From what I have read on the snubs is that they would rather have Utah have 1 guy in the game than the Nugs getting 2. The two guys have very similar stat lines. Its BS, especially with Pau getting in, but I think it played a part in the voting process…personally I hope it pisses the entire team off and they take it out on the Thunder, Spurs and especially the Kings!

billups wins the nba championship with detroit and is the finals mvp. the following season the all star game is in denver and chauncey is not on the team. he was left off the 2008 olympic team in favor of jason kidd. remember during the playoffs last season against nawlins and dallas? two good things are going to happen because of this. chauncey gets to rest and spend time with his family. he will have extra motivation when he plays the so called allstars next time around.

Coaches are stupid.
What was the rationale behind not voting for Chauncey? Not only is he having a career year in scoring, but he is also continuing to maintain his excellent assist output and extremely high FT percentage.
And don’t coaches respect things like leadership or defense? If you won’t vote based on the stats (which say he should be an All-Star), then take a look based on intangibles. CHAUNCEY IS ONE OF THE TRUE TEAM LEADERS IN THE NBA. He is extremely valuable to his team…something that should’ve become apparent to the rest of the league over the past two years. Throw in the fact that he still retains his “big shot” ability…
I seriously hope no coaches voted against Billups on the premise of “he was injured, didn’t play enough games.” CB1 played EIGHT more games than Pau Gasol (and averaged more points…in fewer minutes.)
Paul has been amazing this year, as always. Deron Williams was a worthy choice. I’m not saying the others haven’t been great as well. But, like Nate said, Billups has been right there with them. Disappointing, for the second time this week.

Zach Randolph is rightfully in the allstar game and he probably should be starting at center but pau gasol? The guy has barely played this year. Only reason he got voted in is because the lakers need at least 2 allstars. Pau is the augliest allstar stiff

Essentially, the Grizzlies used all the cap space from the Pau Gasol trade to get ZBo.
So in other words, the Lakers traded the Gasols for Zach Randolph and Javaris Gun Crittenton.
ZBo still sucks and was the feature JailBlazer. Chauncey>Gasol, but not by much.

lets all take a deep breath
in any normal year/conference billups is a no-brainer all-star. but guards in the west are absolutely stacked. is it really that clear-cut that billups deserves it over D-will?
by Rainbow skyline on Jan 28, 2010 5:50 PM MST reply actions 4 recs
The positional selections are kinda pointless in my opinion
I understand the need for at least a few big men and at least a few guards…but when the West is as stacked with guards as you said, I think Chauncey should’ve gotten the spot over Gasol. One more guard and one less big isn’t going to cripple the West team or something, if anything it is a better representation of the conference.
On an unrelated note…man I wish Nene had taken advantage of the Yao-less conference enough to be a first-time All-Star. I still think he had the potential to easily come in ahead of Randolph or Amare. Maybe next year.

Amar'''''''''''e being listed at center was COMPLETE BS!!!!
That guaranteed him an All-Star Spot.
Of course, if Amar’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’e was listed as a forward like he shoulda been, those L@ker fans woulda voted in Andrew Bynum, even though Nene is more deserving.
I hope the Nuggets take this as ammunition for the rest of the season.
