Lawsuit against J.R. called off

I actually don't remember hearing about this story before today, but it seems as if he had some dispute with his lawyer, as he did not pay nearly $23,000 in legal fees after an incident in 2006 in which he broke some guy's jaw in a pickup game.

It's good to see that another distraction seems to be called off for now. J.R. Smith is shooting only 41% from the field, 32% from behind the arc, and 69% from the line, all of which are way below last season's averages and below what you'd expect from a guy with so much potential. J.R. has decreased his scoring average from 15.2 to 14.5, his rebounding average from 3.7 to 2.8, and his assist average from 2.8 to 2.4. His minutes, steals, blocks, and fouls have remained constant, while his turnovers have increased a bit. I know that J.R. has had a good deal of distractions (jail time, birth of a daughter, this debt thing), but I really want to see better production from him.

Wrestling! This was something that most Nuggets' fans would love to not remember.

JR may have had his break out game tonight

Not his 22 points. Not his decent 7-16 shooting, but his +18 while on the floor. It shows he made things happen, made his team better and actually had a very productive game.

Oh I get it

LOL, I wish. I have some good ideas for that guy.

The Nugs could have rolled the Nene, Bird, Kmart, JR, Billups lineup last night and rolled over the Rockets by the end of the third…

I love how the media

…is trying to make this look like another bad thing on J.R’s record. All it tells me is how litigious American society is and how much lawyers are prostitutes to money especially if it comes to suing people. If J.R. were a in the low socioeconomic class, I don’t think the lawyer would be seeking money like this.
This has gotten me on a bit of a rant, but I wish our society would chillax a little.Don’t get me wrong the world revolves around money. I believe that people should set their heart on their work and their reward will come to them.
This lawyer, the girl who had an affair w/ Kobe and settled with a lot of money instead of going to court, and many medical malpractice suits are but a few of the things that will never go away from this society… Oh well my socialist rant is over

The lawyer pulling this ish right before a game notwithstanding

JR owed the dude a serious amount of loot and sounds like he has owed it for a few years. Not a big deal, he’s straightening it out and it’s not knucklehead news (well, the case it was related to was), but this one’s on JR. The lawyer might be garbage, but that doesn’t mean JR doesn’t have to pay him for services rendered.

unless said services were crap and JR was withholding payment?

not saying that is the case but perhaps that’s why?

Because it's become tiresome

STIFF LIST (as of 2/7 by Andrew Feinstein)

1. THE NUGGETS AT HOME
How is it possible that a Nuggets team with this much talent can be 7-5 at home?! Things have gotten so bad that fans are clamoring for J.R. Smith to return.

2. CARMELO ANTHONY
Kobe Bryant plays through any and all ailments. Melo uses any and ailments as an excuse not to play.

3. KEVIN LOVE
Just when the T'Wolves are looking better, Love stomps on Luis Scola and lands himself a two-game suspension.

4. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS
The 'Cats have lost 11 straight and are now 3-21 ... in the Eastern Conference! This is what happens when you let an underwear salesman with a Hitler mustache run your team.

5. MIKE BROWN
Dr. Bunsen Honeydew (Google it!) got himself a one-game suspension for making contact with a referee.
