The DEFINITIVE completely not-going-to-happen-but-should made up trade

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yhk6c54

Legitimately helps every team involved: Denver - Washington - Cleveland.

Denver gets Brendan Haywood, Jawad Williams

Cleveland gets Antawn Jamison, Malik Allen, Anthony Carter

Washington gets Z. Ilgauskus, R. Balkman, Joey Graham

Why it works:

Denver gets their coveted big man to help guard the Lakers Tri-towers in the West Finals without giving up anyone in its core. Jawad adds depth to a now depleted bench. Signing Coby Karl would fill another roster spot.

Cleveland gets the player they feel could get them over the top in the East. The rumour mill is already abuzz with Jamison to Cleveland talk. AC gives them veteran PG play now that Williams and D. West are injured.

Washington sheds lots of salary and can start rebuilding. They get almost $13M coming off of the books for next year, and get a low-dollar energy guy, which is something they desperately need: energy.

OK now Stiffs Nation, tell me why this is an idiotic trade and how "this would never work" and what a giant douche I am, and blah, blah, blah, blah...

You're really

hoping that Washington wants to start from pretty much absolute zero. The only person left for them would be Caron assuming that they indeed get off and under Arenas’ contract.

they are trying to start from absolutely zero...

especially if they can void Arenas deal. Butler is mentioned as a trade piece as much, if not more, than Jamison.

Hmm

hadn’t heard those rumors. I never thought I’d see a team trying to start from absolute zero. Usually they have someone to build around.

I Like

The trade. It would be hard seeing as AC has veto power and Washington would have to absolutely just start over, but hey, If they make this trade they could finish last a land the overall pick who will be John Wall and there is their Arenas replacement right there and a great building block. They would free up money for maybe a Joe Johnson or Amare’. Building a franchise around Wall and JJ woouldn’t be too bad at all.

lol

I don’t see the Nets winning 12 more games this season. Even if they did, the Wizards would have to not win a game for the rest of the year in order to get the worst record, but hey, it is the lottery. They’d still have a better chance, but I’m pretty sure Wall will end up with NJ and LeBron isn’t going anywhere near that dump. Could be an intriguing combo though, Wall and Bron.

I like it too

Works all the way around and I would pull the trigger if I was all three teams. Only hold up I think would be Cleveland’s love for Big Z.

by Gasus on Jan 25, 2010 4:11 PM MST reply actions

um...love?

Considering they’ve made no secret that they intend to use his expiring contract to land either Jamison or Murphy I’d say any Cle-Big Z love will not get in the way of this trade

If I were the Nuggets I would make this deal in a heartbeat

Gets rid of Balkman (who we never use), Allen (who sucks), AC (who isn’t good), and Graham (meh) — and in return get back a productive big in Haywood plus Jawad Williams as filler? That sounds like a great deal for the Nuggets.

I’m skeptical that a deal of this size would go through, and even if 3-way talks began, I just don’t think Denver could get away with that much of a heist. We can always hope, I guess.

The Wiz trade away their leading scorer and leading rebounder for some scrubs and a big old guy?

I’m not sure…good trade for the Nuggets and the Cavs though. However, 3-team deals are pretty hard to complete..

Yeah actually, this one is good

I can see why they do it. News flash people, the Wizards are going to blow it up and start completely over. There are three things teams want when they do that, cap space, young talent and draft picks. If you have Cleveland throw in JJ Hickson (still works under salary) or a draft pick the wizards will absolutely want to do this deal. The cap space is a big part of it but even though they’ll never come out and say it, Washington wants to lose for the remainder of the season, and lose often. They want to get the best shot they can at winning the John Wall sweepstakes. Even if they don’t get the number one pick, this is a top heavy draft with a big drop off at the back end. It would be nice to see Denver and Washington make a simultaneous trade for Nick Young for the exception. It helps washington clear a little more cap space and get the exception while at the same time gives us another bench player so the back end of our roster isn’t the top end of the 14ers. Cleveland is absolutely trying to move Z for Jamison, I think they’d be willing to let Hickson go as well if they got Antawn and Denver would be blown away to get Haywood without giving up a rotational player. Good form Beef my man, this is possibly the best trade scenario to come up on Denver Stiffs

Thanks Zach...

I’m only a recent participant on to the Stiffs, but I enjoy all of the commentary and friendly banter. And playing fantasy GM is one of my hobbies :-)

I will say this though

Cleveland and washington don’t really need Denver to get the pieces they want out of this deal

by Zachm219 on Jan 26, 2010 12:12 AM MST reply actions

Yea but

AC makes the deal even sweeter for Clev. and may help them feel better about giving up Hickson as well. Mo and Delonte are both injured. AC is a vet PG that Clev. would love to have as a fill in while the other players are injured.

STIFF LIST (as of 2/7 by Andrew Feinstein)

1. THE NUGGETS AT HOME
How is it possible that a Nuggets team with this much talent can be 7-5 at home?! Things have gotten so bad that fans are clamoring for J.R. Smith to return.

2. CARMELO ANTHONY
Kobe Bryant plays through any and all ailments. Melo uses any and ailments as an excuse not to play.

3. KEVIN LOVE
Just when the T'Wolves are looking better, Love stomps on Luis Scola and lands himself a two-game suspension.

4. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS
The 'Cats have lost 11 straight and are now 3-21 ... in the Eastern Conference! This is what happens when you let an underwear salesman with a Hitler mustache run your team.

5. MIKE BROWN
Dr. Bunsen Honeydew (Google it!) got himself a one-game suspension for making contact with a referee.
