Blazers sign J. Howard...
In light of the Blazers signing former short-term Nugget, Juwan Howard, I'm left wondering why we didnt hold on to this veteran, power forward/center, who plays solid d, and has a pretty money outside j for a big man, in the first place? Did I mention he was making the league minimum? Doesn't this sound like the exact type of player the Nuggs were hoping to aquire this offseason?
Good thing we got the seasoned vet, Petro, back.

birdman
chris andersen has that position on the team. nugs want a combo forward with 3point range. the only thing howard has is the j from 15 feet for now. i expect birdman to improve his outside shot and surprise us again with his ongoing improvement. juwan is a better fit with portland. andre miller and howard gives the blazers what they lack most veteran leadership.
birdman will never have an outside game...come on, are you serious???
he is a rebound, put-back, short hook shot making guy at best. he will never have an outside game.
free throws
he shot 72% last season from the charity stripe. very consistent with his form and do not forget the adrian dantley factor. andersen’s big problem is he is too focused playing above the rim. he is not ready for passes in the paint. i do not expect him to hit 3 pointers. 15 footers and in he can master. right now he sets the best pick on the team. he gets a great angle, holds his position and takes the contact. now that his contract and personal life are in order he can concentrate on things like his shooting.
Andersen is about 32.
There isn’t going to be any improvement in his game. He’s gonna be the same Birdman we saw last year…

Do you really think Juwan Howard is gonna be effective?
Come on now. Dude wont even play much. Dont understand why anybody would sign him at this point. Maybe to try and mentor Oden? Idk.
Juwan Howard, in his prime, was one of the league's best forwards on both ends of the court...
However, right now he’s probably even worse than Petro. I agree with GottaLoveMelo, they brought him in mainly to mentor Oden.

not really, but he's an effective big...
…which is what we need. You think Karl would play Petro more than Howard if they were both on the team??? Petro is a goof with no game. Howard is a proven big man who can play on both ends.
petro will not last
he has a deal for 800k and may not be fully gauranteed. howard is effective but he is not what denver needs. there is a trend in the nba for jumbo sized players to sumo wrestle in the paint. right now what the nugs have works over 90% of the time. it is that 5 to 10% that killed them with the lakers in the wcf. the spurs are trying land a 7 footer from greece. after all the moves made this summer they still want a huge player. cleveland had the best record in the regular season and they could not match up with dwight. they went out and got shaq even though they have igauskas at 7’3". nugs need to have a minimum of 13 players on the roster to start the season. they are missing 2 pieces to the puzzle a combo forward with 3 point range and a jumbo.
