Captain Jack....

I know I have written a lot of these kinda posts but this has been a long and boring offseason...

So im going to put who we should target....

Well apparently stephen Jackson wants out of Golden State.....

(Source http://dimemag.com/2009/08/breaking-...te/#more-18251)

Also golden state also wants curry and monta to play together so they need to clear space in the backcourt, and they have another similar player in maggette

He has a rather large contract, but under 8 mil this year so we could use our TPE...

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=maqh4s

but that would result in to many players i think

Another idea i thought about would be K Mart for Stephen Jackson, Ronny Turiaf, and Brendan Wright or Acie Law

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=nt6ghg

I know you would think why trade K Mart for a SG/SF.... well we could actually start turiaf at center and play nene at pf...

MAybe give turiaf like 25 min. then either an extra 5 min to birdman or balkman or even petro

Then it gives us more flexibility

Our Lineup would be like

PG- Billups (32) Lawson (16) AC *AC might take more min

SG- Jackson (18) JR (30) AA

SF- Melo (34) Jacson (14)

PF- Nene (22) Balkman (16) Birdman(10) Allen

C- Turiaf (26) Nene (10) Birdman (12)

the most likely option would involve us not getting JAX, but helping him get to houston( which hes from and said he wanted to go there)

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=nt6ghg

the trade involves

JAX and 6.9 TPE from Denver to Houston

Battier to Denver

Lowry to GSW

It actually improves GSW and DEN in the Trade Machine but cuz T MAc and Yao are injure the machine counts them as playing so it would actually improve Houston too

People say we need another big ... but if we have such good perimeter players we could do a lot of damage

Jackson is really well rounded player, and its another 20+ scorer for Kobe to cover....

Or Battier is player who is proven to b the best player at covering kobe in the league

You think GS would actually take on KMart's Contract?

Why would GS want to take on his contract?

Plus I don’t know if either Jackson or Ronny are as good as KMart on D

at some point the FO is gonna want to stand pat and see how the team plays with the additions already made. But I agree that these scenerios MIGHT work….

and Stephen Jackson would DEF fit it on the Nuggets squad….

Thats a lot of talent for Kmart...

I like it for Denver… but i’m not to sure GS would be down with this.

Steven Hill's "PER" last year was 88.54… His beard alone had a PER of 42.15...

dumb and dumber

kmart’s contract is the poison pill for any deal at least for this year. next year when he is in the final year of his contract it will be a different story. the other issue is the money and the amount of years you will be taking on. you will be paying way more tax this year and money aside i do not think that is an upgrade. denver’s front office is looking 2 seasons down the road when the following happens. a new collective bargining agreement. less dollars for the salary cap. kmart and j r smith’s contracts expire. linas kleiza’s greek contract is up and billups has a player option. nene’s contract will be coming to an end too. right now there is a 2 year window for the core players they have already on the roster that went to the western conference finals. in 2 years there may be 30 to 55 million coming off the books. i really cannot see the nugs taking on longer contracts at more money right now.

ya i was think about that

in either 2011 or 2012 nuggz r gna b big players in Free Agency…. unless they trade for a larger contract….

by hvino on Aug 28, 2009 8:37 PM MDT up reply actions

it helps every team....

we get a legit 7 foot center and a cheap swingman
GSW gets much shorter contracts and a much cheaper and younger but similar version of JAx
LAC gets a legit starting SF and gets a young back up big to back up camby and griffin

by hvino on Aug 29, 2009 11:32 AM MDT up reply actions

right but....

Yeah the only problem with any of these scenarios is that Kmart is involved in a trade, I kinda feel like kmart’s massive contract is untradable right now.

cleveland rocks

the only place i can see kmart and his contract going would be cleveland. 7’3" center ilgaoskas has one year and 11.4 million left on his deal. the cavs would have to add another player maybe 6’9" jawad williams a 2nd year player from north carolina to come close to kmart’s 15 million contract. cleveland signed anderson flopmaster varejo to a deal for 10 million a year earlier this summer. the only way lebron james signs an extension with the cavs is if they take the nba title. with ilgaoskas at center nene goes to power forward. i like kmart and if it was up to me i would keep him. this is the only deal out there where the nugs can move kmart’s contract this year.

major downside

trading kmart would mean the toughest guy on the roster would be chauncey. billups has enough to do being the starting point gaurd, defacto player coach, j r smith babysitter, ect. being the nugs enforcer is asking too much. without kmart denver gets bitch slapped from one end of the court to the other by every team in the nba.

You know your basketball!

Nice to see some support for the unsupported one!

by Gasus on Sep 2, 2009 4:16 PM MDT up reply actions

Cleveland would boast a starting lineup of KMart and Shaq

With “10-million a year Varejao” coming off the bench for them. Interesting. But I agree with nohoops4u that Chauncey would have a hard time doing all of this. Perhaps it’s time for Melo to be a gazillion times tougher?

The last trade you said Houston wouldn't do

ALthough the Nuggets are by FAR my favorite team, I also pay attention to the Rockets and the Thunder when we ain’t playing. And I know how valuable Battier is to them. Frankly, as Houston, I’d rather have Battier than JAX, given Battier as a glue-guy (a la Chauncey)

The STIFF LIST (as of 7/26 by Nate)

STIFF #1: COLORADO ROCKIES
The Rox have lost eight of their last 10, including six in a row. During the six-game losing streak Colorado has been outscored 33-13 ... and they might soon be the reason by buddy Rory has a massive heart-attack. But there are still 63 games to go and an upcoming eight-game homestand is hopefully just what the team, and Rory, needs to turn things around.

STIFF #2: MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES/DAVID KAHN
Replacing a 24 year-old point guard with a 29 year-old point guard is just a sound NBA move ... uh? Kahn handed Ramon Sessions a 4-year $16 million contract last offseason and just gave the same deal to Luke Ridnour this offseason. In order to make room for Ridnour, Kahn shipped Sessions and young big man Ryan Hollins off to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Delonte West (who is still facing weapons-possession charges). Maybe Ricky Rubio will get to the T-Wolves before Ridnour's contract expires, but don't count on it.

STIFF #3: TRACY MCGRADY
McGrady has been shopping his services this offseason and after getting nibbles from the Lakers, Clippers, and most recently the Bulls ... T-Mac is still without an employer. The 31 year-old guard, with a rich injury history, apparently is not ready to accept a reduced role. Will McGrady's stubborness land him on a lottery team where he'll try to prove he can still be "the man" or will he accept being a role player and wind up in Chicago gunning for that elusive title?

STIFF #4: DANNY AINGE
The Celtics did lose defensive ace Tony Allen to the Memphis Grizzlies, but re-signing Marquis Daniels to a one-year $2.5 million deal is a little crazy. Daniels should be thanking agent Mark Bartelstein ... maybe the rapper can sing his agent a song. (Daniels is in the yellow shirt in the video)

STIFF #5: NUGGETS SLEEPING ON SIZE
The Nuggets decided to bring back Anthony Carter on a one-year $1.3 million deal. Do the Nuggets really need a third point guard heading into training camp over another big body? Check out some names still on the free-agent market: Louis Amundson (yes he'll require more money), Fabricio Oberto, Kwame Brown, Anthony Tolliver, DJ Mbenga, Nathan Jawai, Josh Boone, Kyrylo Fesenko, and Joey Graham. Denver still has the bi-annual exception to spend ... so maybe there is still hope of grabbing somebody.
