Nuggets to sign Keith Brumbaugh ....

I was surfing hoopshype.com today, and right at the top of rumors is a twitter from Edge Sports: Client Keith Brumbaugh to sign with the Denver Nuggets. Twitter.com .

Star-divide

After more research, this guy could be a interesting pickup. He played in the D league(stats here) last year and although his numbers dont pop out, I have to believe our front office is looking at him as another hidden gem who wants a 2nd shot (he was a top 5 college recruit 3 years ago). He's  6'10, 210 lbs, 22 years old and plays sg/sf. He's supposedly a lethal shooter and has crazy athleticism. Here is some interesting write ups I found on him:

As trainer Scott Savor put Brumbaugh through a workout last month, Brumbaugh doesn't look like he spent two years away from organized basketball. The southpaw drains jumpers, dunks without remorse and shows off the left hand that made him only the second high-schooler to serve as a counselor at Michael Jordan's camp. The other? LeBron James. Near the end of the workout, Savor orders a drill called "Total Domination." Savor calls the name of a player, and Brumbaugh must impersonate how that player would win a game at the buzzer. Savor yells "Tim Duncan," and Brumbaugh banks in a 16-footer high off the glass. Savor yells "John Stockton," and Brumbaugh fakes a bounce pass before hitting a jumper from the elbow. Savor yells "Tony Parker," and Brumbaugh slices into the lane and drops in a floater.

Kinda confused...

i get we are looking for a diamond in the rough(aka Jones/birdman) but why not go for mccants? this guy just puts us closer to the thug name which is so wrong

reading his info tho he seems just rly unlucky sumtimes….
but i cud see his height giving us a huge advantage, having kobe guard a 6’10/9 SG/SF could help……

by hvino on Aug 27, 2009 6:28 PM MDT reply actions

Guy looks interesting

And would bring our roster total up to 13.

Swats.

by BeefySwats on Aug 27, 2009 6:36 PM MDT reply actions

billups factor

chauncey is a strong positive influence. he can influence a young player on and off the court. kb has the potential to play and compete at the 2,3,4 and 5 positions. his contract will be for the minimum amount so it will not be a big risk. throw in the steve hess and adrian dantley factors and this could be the next surprise move ala chris andersen. mccants would be out of position at forward coming off the bench. wally is washed up. i would rather have coby karl rather than mccants or wally but not at 13th man on the roster. if denver has a 14 or 15 man roster i can see coby on the team.

Maybe just brining him in for camp?

If they see what they like, keep him, and if not let him go.

What???

Keith Brumbaugh will be better than Michael Beasley

Apparently he at least one fan! note the date on this thread though….

I can see a summer league invite

But let’s be honest… what more could a guy like that get possibly signed for? And yeah, that article’s from 2008 about him. How’s he held up since? I’m curious.

Promise comes and goes for people sadly… just because he was “ranked” as a HS junior doesn’t mean he’s worthy of anything today. Interesting prospect though. We have had successes in this realm… a la Andersen.

well the twitter page deleted the post, hasnt been posted anywhere esle

i guess i got excited cuz we not getting any news anymore!!!!!!aaaa ima go crazy

He has very good size

I know nothing about him, but if he can stroke from deep I would gladly take that over Wally’s world. I would still like to see Coby Karl in camp and possibly on the roster too, though,

I want to see this guy play

Can anyone find ANY video of him??

Apparently he was at the MJ Bball camp along with Lebron but….

I see Keith as being some weird combo of Hedo Turkoglu and Sun Yue

Or maybe a better comparison is a pretty-damn-poor-man’s Magic Johnson without any of the crazy playmaking skills

thanks for the video

I checked out that video and I think the only time Keith even touches the ball is at the very end for the dunk… he’s no. 25 in the white jerseys right?

I think Keith is basically just like someone who has been in the NBA for a several years already except for the opposite of that.

Any word?

Anything new on this front? Definitely like to give this guy a chance over bringing in Wallyworld.

Sounds like a reincarnation...

…of Anthony Randolph. Same skill set. Same body type. That ain’t a bad thing…he’s worth a non-guaranteed, 13th man spot.

word is...

Hoopshype link: http://blogs.hoopshype.com/blogs/sierra/2009/09/01/brumbaugh-to-nuggets-camp/ No risk there, and if he works out it’s an absolute steal.

Only evident downside is that we probably can't get Coby Karl

I’d love to see him develop on some crappy team like the Grizz. He has the potential to be in the NBA for several seasons.

Karl the Younger

as good as he could be I think the FO would rather avoid any accusations of nepatism… though that doesn’t mean they WON’T bring him on…

The STIFF LIST (as of 7/26 by Nate)

STIFF #1: COLORADO ROCKIES
The Rox have lost eight of their last 10, including six in a row. During the six-game losing streak Colorado has been outscored 33-13 ... and they might soon be the reason by buddy Rory has a massive heart-attack. But there are still 63 games to go and an upcoming eight-game homestand is hopefully just what the team, and Rory, needs to turn things around.

STIFF #2: MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES/DAVID KAHN
Replacing a 24 year-old point guard with a 29 year-old point guard is just a sound NBA move ... uh? Kahn handed Ramon Sessions a 4-year $16 million contract last offseason and just gave the same deal to Luke Ridnour this offseason. In order to make room for Ridnour, Kahn shipped Sessions and young big man Ryan Hollins off to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Delonte West (who is still facing weapons-possession charges). Maybe Ricky Rubio will get to the T-Wolves before Ridnour's contract expires, but don't count on it.

STIFF #3: TRACY MCGRADY
McGrady has been shopping his services this offseason and after getting nibbles from the Lakers, Clippers, and most recently the Bulls ... T-Mac is still without an employer. The 31 year-old guard, with a rich injury history, apparently is not ready to accept a reduced role. Will McGrady's stubborness land him on a lottery team where he'll try to prove he can still be "the man" or will he accept being a role player and wind up in Chicago gunning for that elusive title?

STIFF #4: DANNY AINGE
The Celtics did lose defensive ace Tony Allen to the Memphis Grizzlies, but re-signing Marquis Daniels to a one-year $2.5 million deal is a little crazy. Daniels should be thanking agent Mark Bartelstein ... maybe the rapper can sing his agent a song. (Daniels is in the yellow shirt in the video)

STIFF #5: NUGGETS SLEEPING ON SIZE
The Nuggets decided to bring back Anthony Carter on a one-year $1.3 million deal. Do the Nuggets really need a third point guard heading into training camp over another big body? Check out some names still on the free-agent market: Louis Amundson (yes he'll require more money), Fabricio Oberto, Kwame Brown, Anthony Tolliver, DJ Mbenga, Nathan Jawai, Josh Boone, Kyrylo Fesenko, and Joey Graham. Denver still has the bi-annual exception to spend ... so maybe there is still hope of grabbing somebody.
