Star-divide

July 1 2009:  Free agency begins, though teams cannot officially sign until the final cap numbers are announced. Last year the signing moratorium lasted until July 11, though I haven't seen a date yet for 2009.  The moratorium runs through July 7, so signings can officially begin on July 8.

July 10-19: Las Vegas Summer League

July 22-25, 2009: Team USA Trains in Vegas

September 7-20, 2009: EuroBasket tournament

September 8, 2009: Spain vs. Great Britain

September 30th, 2009:
Training camp begins (for the Blazers anyway -- I couldn't find the start for the Nuggies.... Around this date...)

October 28th, 2009:
'09/'10 Season begins.

Summer League

Anyone know who’s on the summer league roster for the nuggets other than ty lawson?

by bodmiesta on Jun 29, 2009 9:49 PM MDT reply actions   0 recs

I will post the roster as soon as it's set.

I’m sure you’ll see:

Ty Lawson and
Sonny Weems.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Steven Hunter played on the team to get himself in better basketball shape, but that probably more wishful thinking on my part than reality.

Denver will also probably add a few guys between now and the time the league starts on July 10th.

Alade Aminu

I know not many people know him, but i read an article about him on draftexpress, and he insists that he can play the role of what birdman did. Any takes on him?

Alade Aminu ... profile

You can read up on the Georgia Tech big man here.

Summer league team

http://www.ridiculousupside.com/2009/6/28/928394/nba-summer-league-roster-taking

So far looks like Lawson and Rich Hendrix, a big man from the D-League. I imagine Sonny would do summer league too. I would love to see Sonny and Ty ballin’ up summer league together.

Nice find! Right under my nose here on SB Nation!

I’ll be keeping a lookout for updates as well.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/20108-nba-draft-richard-hendrix-dynamite-in-denver

its kinda funny if u consider this guy wanted denver to draft him over hakim warrick or maureese speights

Alade Aminu

Any chance we could sign him, and have him be our new young version of birdman at a cheap rookie (undrafted) price?

Richard Hendrix

Anyone think he can help the Nuggets?

by bodmiesta on Jul 2, 2009 1:47 AM MDT reply actions   0 recs

It's just like the Nuggets to grab a guy from the D-League ...

Pretty much a rookie and a big body. Actually may have a legit shot at making the team with Denver’s open roster spots and their need for a big man and minimum contracts.

by hvino on Jul 2, 2009 7:15 PM MDT reply actions   0 recs

Some names...

I know that kid Simmons played for Cleveland and they thought he was gonna be something special, and or course Rush can hit the deep ball. But i really only expect to see Weems and Lawson on the final roster.

Roster

Agreed to a certain point…weems, lawson on the roster, and hendrix and giles might have a chance

THE STIFF LIST (as of 11/20 by Andrew)

STIFF #1: THE NEW JERSEY NETS
The bad get worse.  Starting out 0-12, these Nets are doing a great imitation of the 1997-98, 11-win Nuggets.  I might have to pay someone to take my Nets tickets when they come to Pepsi Center.

STIFF #2: ALLEN IVERSON
I hate to kick one of my favorite players while he's down, but when even the Knicks won't sign you, you belong on the Stiff List.

STIFF #3: THE SAN ANTONIO SPURS
Richard Jefferson?  Antonio McDyess?  DeJuan Blair?  A healthy Manu Ginobili?  Big deal.  What idiot thought these guys would be neck-and-neck with the Lakers and way better than the Nuggets?  (Oh wait, that would be me.)

STIFF #4: TRACY MCGRADY
After years of suspect handling of his injuries making it virtually impossible for the Rockets to trade him, McGrady goes head-to-head with Rockets coach Rick Adelman demanding to know what his "future" with the organization is.  Tracy, take your league-high $23.2 million and shut the @#$% up.

STIFF #5: DAVID KAHN
Defiant and stubborn as ever, the Timberwolves "president" defended his offseason moves (you know, drafting two point guards before Brandon Jennings not named Brandon Jennings) by proclaiming that the Wolves will be active during next summer's free agent market.  I just pray that Wolves owner Glen Taylor never fires this guy so the Nuggets have four guaranteed wins each season.
