Jodie Meeks

I read an article saying that the only reason meeks stayed in the draft was because he was guaranteed by a team that they would chose him, signs point to the nuggets being that team because he only did one workout which was for new jersey, and denver was there to scout prospects. I don't know much about him but i could see us trading a future second round pick for him, instead because 34 might be too high for him. What do you guys think?

heres where i read it:

Meeks can stroke...

I have seen him play, dont let his numbers in college fool you hes not a 50 point scorer. Him and Pat Patterson were the only players on that team that could dribble the damn ball so he took 5 million shots a game. Solid shoot er off the bench i think is his pro career. I would rather have Pat Mills though

Sounds like pure speculation

Guaranteeing somebody a non-guaranteed contract?

True... but

if he goes undrafted mayb well put him on our summer league team…

Meeks can shoot

Adding another 3-point shooter won’t hurt, but we already have someone that plays the same position (cough cough jr smith) that likes to jack up 3’s , and we just got a shooting guard last year in sonny weems, so why pick up another shooting guard. Still prefer to see if we can get victor claver, and maybe trade for rodrigue beaubois…really wouldn’t mind doing a sign and trade with kleiza for one of those players.

Well

We have no idea if Sonny Weems can even play. Personally, I think Meeks is a better talent than Weems, so I’d take him with the 34th with the intention of letting him compete with Weems for the Dahntay Jones’s spot on the team (assuming he isn’t brought back, of course).

Good post

I agree about Meeks, nice player but way out of line to use pick #34 on him. I hope the Nugs would not do this unless trading down for more picks or buying a later pick. There’s probably going to be a good PG left at 34. Fingers crossed for Patty Mills or Darren Collison.

60 Overall

Chad Ford currently has Meeks as Mr. Irrelevant number 60 overall pick

Safe to say ...

taking him at 34 would be a bit of a reach then.

THE STIFF LIST (as of 11/20 by Andrew)

STIFF #1: THE NEW JERSEY NETS
The bad get worse.  Starting out 0-12, these Nets are doing a great imitation of the 1997-98, 11-win Nuggets.  I might have to pay someone to take my Nets tickets when they come to Pepsi Center.

STIFF #2: ALLEN IVERSON
I hate to kick one of my favorite players while he's down, but when even the Knicks won't sign you, you belong on the Stiff List.

STIFF #3: THE SAN ANTONIO SPURS
Richard Jefferson?  Antonio McDyess?  DeJuan Blair?  A healthy Manu Ginobili?  Big deal.  What idiot thought these guys would be neck-and-neck with the Lakers and way better than the Nuggets?  (Oh wait, that would be me.)

STIFF #4: TRACY MCGRADY
After years of suspect handling of his injuries making it virtually impossible for the Rockets to trade him, McGrady goes head-to-head with Rockets coach Rick Adelman demanding to know what his "future" with the organization is.  Tracy, take your league-high $23.2 million and shut the @#$% up.

STIFF #5: DAVID KAHN
Defiant and stubborn as ever, the Timberwolves "president" defended his offseason moves (you know, drafting two point guards before Brandon Jennings not named Brandon Jennings) by proclaiming that the Wolves will be active during next summer's free agent market.  I just pray that Wolves owner Glen Taylor never fires this guy so the Nuggets have four guaranteed wins each season.
