KMart's bad back

The Denver Post's Benjamin Hochman has an informative article up on Kenyon's ailing back. It seems that KMart and Karl are a little less optimistic about his injury than the team's muscle bound trainer Steve Hess.

Said Hess in the article:

"When we hit the playoffs, he'll be a rock star. . . . In this running-and-jumping sport, is the back susceptible? Of course. But is this (injury) something that's going to linger? No. We will get this taken care of."

Full article here.

I hope Hess is correct because like Hochman points out ... the Nuggets are a much tougher defensive team with Martin on the floor. Another great aspect Martin brings, no not his 3-point shooting ability this season (14-33 42%), but his rim rattling signature dunks.

Chris Anderson, Nene, JR Smith, and at times Dahntay Jones are capable of a tremendous crowd lifting dunks - but the master is still KMart. Nothing fires up the home crowd or the Nuggets' bench like a good old fashioned put-back dunk or a posterizing in-your-face signature dunk like KMart's.

And he'll let you know just how important each dunk is as he stares into the crowd lingering for just a couple of seconds to hear the roar he just created circulate around the arena.

Get well soon Kenyon.

how about Balkman tonight?

He’s a much better rebounder than Kenyon, I love how he’s played lately. I know we’re gonna need Kenyon’s toughness in the playoffs and I hope he’s at 100%, but he’s a injury-prone punk who’s the most over-paid player in the league (which makes him impossible to trade so we’re stuck with him forever). There, I said it.

If anything I say let K-Mart take it slow that way he’s on top for the playoffs. If Balkman can hold it down while he’s out then so be it. The Nugs have fought through a bunch of injuries this season and they’re still in the running. Might as well get them out of the way now.

STIFF LIST (as of 4/26 by Andrew Feinstein)

1. METTA WORLD PEACE

Metta resorted back to Ron Ron last Sunday by clubbing James Hardenwith an "inadvertent celebratory elbow", landing him a 7-game suspension. Apparently, changing his name didn't prevent NBA commissioner David Stern from overlooking Metta's past behavior problems.

2. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS

The 'Cats are on the verge of securing the worst winning percentage in NBA history. Given that the guy who runs the team - Michael Jordan - had previously drafted Kwame Brown and Adam Morrison, should this really be a shock?

3. OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
The team that was supposedly built to overcome the lockout-shortened season managed to lose 7 of its last 14 games, ceding the Western Conference's 1-seed to the Spurs in the process. Their reward might be a first round matchup with defending champion Dallas.

4. BILLY HUNTER AND DEREK FISHER
With report after report coming out about NBPA union head Hunter's shady, nepotistic dealings and questions arising about Fisher's own role in dealing with NBA owners behind Hunter's back during the lockout, this off-the-court scandal could prove to be more exciting than the playoffs themselves!

5. STEVE NASH AND THE PHOENIX SUNS
The Suns are on this list for squandering the last few great seasons from Nash. Nash is on this list for his stupidly stubborn loyalty to a franchise as awful as the Suns.
