Nene injured in loss

Howdy folks!

"Did he just say 'Howdy'?"

I did!

Not a lot of thoughts on the game yesterday. But finishing the roadtrip 5-3 and suffering 3 key injuries has me concerned.

KMart's back, Melo's knee, and Nene's knee injuries scare the hell out of me. The good news seems to be there is no structural damage in Nene's knee.

"It doesn't look like anything structural, but it's hard to evaluate when it's so sore," Nuggets athletic trainer Jim Gillen said.

The injury happened when Nene bumped knees with Richard Jefferson in the lane. After the Nuggets' 120-117 loss to Milwaukee, Nene said while standing on crutches: "It hurts . . . a lot. It happened so fast. But he bumped me good. I can't straighten my leg. It's going to hurt, but it's nothing crazy, no big thing. I'll put ice on it and we'll see."

Shit.

Charlie Villanueva dropping 7 threes and scoring a season high 36 on us? Ouch. It was like watching JR Smith out there. After he made that 3/4 length three pointer I had a horrible feeling that Denver was going to lose that one.

Denver has their work cut out for them tonight as they face the Celtics (without KG) and will more than likely be without Kenyon and Nene.

The Celtics are 45-12 (21-8 on the road).
Denver is 37-19 (20-6 at The Can).

Denver won the previous game in Boston on November 14th 94-85.

Post Script: Portland is on a two game win streak and currently is only a game and a half behind the Nuggets in the Northwest standings. The Nuggets sure could use a win tonight.

That loss to the Bucks was frustrating – we should have been able to win that one. Watching Nene’s pain leaving the court left me with only one thought – there’s no way we will beat the Celtics… and I couldn’t even watch that game. Since I’m a “24” fan, I watch that show and then turn during commercials to see how the Nuggets game is going. Each time I turned to the Nuggets/Celtics game I just shook my head. I didn’t know who was doing what and why the score was so low – how disheartening, but I knew before the game began that we didn’t have much of a chance with Nene and KMart out. And Melo is returning to last year’s game – hogging the ball and taking ridiculous shots. After “24” I took one more look and then turned off the TV. It was too ugly for me to watch.

STIFF LIST (as of 4/26 by Andrew Feinstein)

Metta resorted back to Ron Ron last Sunday by clubbing James Hardenwith an "inadvertent celebratory elbow", landing him a 7-game suspension. Apparently, changing his name didn't prevent NBA commissioner David Stern from overlooking Metta's past behavior problems.

The 'Cats are on the verge of securing the worst winning percentage in NBA history. Given that the guy who runs the team - Michael Jordan - had previously drafted Kwame Brown and Adam Morrison, should this really be a shock?

3. OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
The team that was supposedly built to overcome the lockout-shortened season managed to lose 7 of its last 14 games, ceding the Western Conference's 1-seed to the Spurs in the process. Their reward might be a first round matchup with defending champion Dallas.

4. BILLY HUNTER AND DEREK FISHER

With report after report coming out about NBPA union head Hunter's shady, nepotistic dealings and questions arising about Fisher's own role in dealing with NBA owners behind Hunter's back during the lockout, this off-the-court scandal could prove to be more exciting than the playoffs themselves!

5. STEVE NASH AND THE PHOENIX SUNS
The Suns are on this list for squandering the last few great seasons from Nash. Nash is on this list for his stupidly stubborn loyalty to a franchise as awful as the Suns.
