I'll take your silence as an admission

that you had no issue with #1 on the list. Nor should you have.

why should I

there is no relevance to your list. It’s comical. but that’s it.

#1 makes sense to me

Denver fans and Laker fans obviously see on the complete opposite side of the spectrum here, so it is really no surprise that that disagreement would be #1 on the list.

Love #1

You should put the BCS up there sometime if you get a chance. I can’t wait to watch some of the bowl games yet the fact that once again the only teams who get a chance to play in the title game are from either the Big 12 or SEC is as unjustified as it gets. And how about the Utah Flash owner for pulling that ridiculous prank that was an epic failure? God, what a d-bag.

by GoldenNugget on Dec 9, 2009 9:51 AM MST reply actions

What happened?

Can you explain if you have time? (Utah Flash owner prank…)

lured in fans with false promise

of the Byron Russell v Michael Jordan one-v-one game at halftime of the D-League.

That enough? The fuller story is after MJ’s petulant HoF induction speech, in which he called all out manner of people, Russell issued a request that he and MJ go 1on1 and donate the proceeds to charity.

by KC Gunner on Dec 9, 2009 12:50 PM MST up reply actions

Big Mickey D

Also, the owner went so far as to hire MJ lookalikes to walk around the city the day of the game. When people discovered it was a hoax at halftime, he excused himself by saying he was just experimenting with viral marketing and that, in effect, people should have known it was a hoax. What a dick.

by Artimus Mangilord on Dec 9, 2009 12:55 PM MST up reply actions

Wow

What a dick is right!?! Thanks for the info!

I clicked that link in #1 and went and read some comments.

The idiocy on display almost makes me want to face-palm myself to death.

By Chris C:

You know what’s funny about the Lakers fans who frequent this site?
The fact that they feel they need to shit talk at all. I mean, this site was made by a guy who thinks the Nuggets stink in their current form.
This is a blog visited by people who know the Nuggets aren’t going to make a run. When we got the 8th spot and had to visit the Lakers, pretty much everybody said it was over.
But still, Lakers fans come here and say “LOL YOU NUGGETS FANS, LAKERS WILL WIN!!!”
It’s just funny, nobody has once said the Nuggets have a chance. Really, we Nuggets fans agree with the Lakers fans. But they still think they’re clever and taking a “shot” at us.

Or, by danjustin:

Any smart nugget fan realizes we were doomed to play the lakers but sure enough the 100 or so laker trolls are boasting their thin ego.

And the Lakers fans’ humble rebuttal?

By Laker Fan#1:

WE HATE YOU TO!!! HAHAHAHAHA SWEEEEEEEEEEEP!

By Anonymous:

and the worst part is that you have to live in denver, a town full of perennial losing sports teams. Ha. Ha. Ha. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHA. SWEEP BITCHES!!!!!

(The Denver comment is quite odd, although it just illustrates the amount of intelligence bobbing about in this person’s head, because I always thought Denver – and Colorado – was seen as a place that expects excellence from their sports teams because they’re so used to winning. Silly me, I guess…
Also, I’m not sure what standard he’s comparing Denver to in terms of “perennial losing sports teams”, because it can’t be LA. ’Cause, you know, the Kings are totally going to win the Stanley Cup this year, just like last year, and the year before that, the year before that…)

Now, who wants to join me. Lakers fans. * face-palm *

by Tempestuous Binary on Dec 9, 2009 12:43 PM MST reply actions

I am a Lakers fan

and I think those comments are pretty ridiculous too, however, on the post regarding the Tim Donaghy situation from a couple days ago, I don’t recall any silly comments like that (there might have been a couple, but apologies if I missed them). For the most part, we Laker fans just came over and told our opinions, just like you Denver fans told yours. There was probably some trash-talk on display too, but nothing as silly as those examples you grabbed from the ‘10 reasons post’ from 2008.

by stephens on Dec 9, 2009 7:52 PM MST up reply actions

I mean

I’m sure someone could find plenty of things that Dever fans have said especially after they beat LA earlier this year. Just saying. Every group of fans have their trolls and their extremists. Civilized Laker fans deal with them just as much as you do. Let it go.

it is no secret denver fans have always felt inferior to LA because of their great national football league team. i do not care which sport you are talking about win or lose the parking lots are always empty BEFORE the game ends.

fair weather fans

when the lakers start losing the fans will be nowhere to be found. the rams lost to the bears in the 1985 nfc championship. they never got supported again and left for st. louis. the raiders came and went. la is the second largest media market in the united states. nfl has an expansion team and it goes to houston. the browns go to baltimore and cleveland gets a new team. every body loves a winner. the true fans supports the team no matter what. the cubs have not won the world series in 100 years. bulls sucked after jordan and they still sold out for ten years. when a game has been decided la fans head for the exits. team does not win the la fans could care less if the team moves away.

Lebron taking that 3pt shot at the end of the game...

…is exactly why I tell people he isnt great.

Kobe had that crazy shot against Miami but he was basically double teamed and created that shot. It was still a horrible shot…be he created it. Lebron settled for that shot. King James my ass.

Suggestion for a new stiff: Denver Nuggets starters

Being outscored 49-85 versus the Hornets is just atrocious for as talented a starting 5 Denver has.

Swats.

Re: L.A. football snuff.

I still follow the Rams. Didn’t we win the Super bowl last year? Or was that the Lakers winning the Stanley cup? I forget! Now does this sound like all of the Laker fans you guys dis? Happy now?

The STIFF LIST (as of 7/26 by Nate)

STIFF #1: COLORADO ROCKIES
The Rox have lost eight of their last 10, including six in a row. During the six-game losing streak Colorado has been outscored 33-13 ... and they might soon be the reason by buddy Rory has a massive heart-attack. But there are still 63 games to go and an upcoming eight-game homestand is hopefully just what the team, and Rory, needs to turn things around.

STIFF #2: MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES/DAVID KAHN
Replacing a 24 year-old point guard with a 29 year-old point guard is just a sound NBA move ... uh? Kahn handed Ramon Sessions a 4-year $16 million contract last offseason and just gave the same deal to Luke Ridnour this offseason. In order to make room for Ridnour, Kahn shipped Sessions and young big man Ryan Hollins off to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Delonte West (who is still facing weapons-possession charges). Maybe Ricky Rubio will get to the T-Wolves before Ridnour's contract expires, but don't count on it.

STIFF #3: TRACY MCGRADY
McGrady has been shopping his services this offseason and after getting nibbles from the Lakers, Clippers, and most recently the Bulls ... T-Mac is still without an employer. The 31 year-old guard, with a rich injury history, apparently is not ready to accept a reduced role. Will McGrady's stubborness land him on a lottery team where he'll try to prove he can still be "the man" or will he accept being a role player and wind up in Chicago gunning for that elusive title?

STIFF #4: DANNY AINGE
The Celtics did lose defensive ace Tony Allen to the Memphis Grizzlies, but re-signing Marquis Daniels to a one-year $2.5 million deal is a little crazy. Daniels should be thanking agent Mark Bartelstein ... maybe the rapper can sing his agent a song. (Daniels is in the yellow shirt in the video)

STIFF #5: NUGGETS SLEEPING ON SIZE
The Nuggets decided to bring back Anthony Carter on a one-year $1.3 million deal. Do the Nuggets really need a third point guard heading into training camp over another big body? Check out some names still on the free-agent market: Louis Amundson (yes he'll require more money), Fabricio Oberto, Kwame Brown, Anthony Tolliver, DJ Mbenga, Nathan Jawai, Josh Boone, Kyrylo Fesenko, and Joey Graham. Denver still has the bi-annual exception to spend ... so maybe there is still hope of grabbing somebody.
