Report: George Karl Offered Extension

Basically Chris Tomasson reports that the nuggets have made a multi year offer to karl (around 3 mil per year)... if he doesnt except it, i doubt that he will be with us next year. Also, i tend to think that kroenke/ the front office is panicking a bit after the two loses, they might be on to something tho, in the off season i think it was andrew or nate (mayb some1 else) wrote about karls impending free agency being a distraction to the team and potentially allow them to not listen to him, it could be right last couple of lose i blame the coach, but it could also be interperted that the players didnt listen to the coach. as of right now, i think giving karl an extension (assuming he accepts) help us this year, because we will focus more and listen to the coach, but idk if i want gk our coach in 3 years.

Shoot me now

On the bright side of things, at least it said they parties were still far apart from finalizing a deal.

Someone tell me

How it doesn’t make perfect sense for both sides to wait and re-evaluate the deal at the end of the season. The Nugs might now if they want to guarantee a third year and if GK receives another offer and truly wants to stay in Denver, he can ask them to match it. I think it’s a 50/50 argument to say Gk might start coaching a lot better when he gets an extension, I think he will get lazier when he does get one. At this point it’s about money and job security for GK’s situation, not about winning and that’s understandable. GK is asking the Nuggets to bid against themselves right now and I’m hoping and praying it won’t happen till later if at all.

Lame duck

The argument for an extension is to avoid the “lame duck” status for the coach. The theory is that players ignore the coach because he is leaving after the season. In this case, I think that either Karl hasn’t been coaching or the players have been ignoring him for several seasons, so the lame duck label doesn’t really apply.

The good news is the offer is low enough that Karl won’t accept it without being able to see what other offers he can get at the end of the season.

karl was offered 11 million for 3 years

the smug master for the lakers gets 12 million for one year AND he sleeps with the owner’s daughter.

More than the thumb

He’s got 6 with Chicago and 4 in LA. He’ll have to start using his toes.

STIFF LIST (as of 2/7 by Andrew Feinstein)

1. THE NUGGETS AT HOME
How is it possible that a Nuggets team with this much talent can be 7-5 at home?! Things have gotten so bad that fans are clamoring for J.R. Smith to return.

2. CARMELO ANTHONY
Kobe Bryant plays through any and all ailments. Melo uses any and ailments as an excuse not to play.

3. KEVIN LOVE
Just when the T'Wolves are looking better, Love stomps on Luis Scola and lands himself a two-game suspension.

4. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS
The 'Cats have lost 11 straight and are now 3-21 ... in the Eastern Conference! This is what happens when you let an underwear salesman with a Hitler mustache run your team.

5. MIKE BROWN
Dr. Bunsen Honeydew (Google it!) got himself a one-game suspension for making contact with a referee.
