BS: Kobe Plays with the flu! drops 31! in 46 Minutes!
Okay. I'm done. Last night Kobe Bryant's Lakers played the OKC Thunder. And barely won. By 3.
But before you jump to any "whoa, are the Lakers that bad?" or "wow, the Thunder are about to show the league that drafing a guy that's 6-10 125lbs was the greatest move in history and they are on theyre way to a statement season!", I just found out that Kobe missed the shoot around, arrived at the arena late, and had to get an IV because he has the flu...
OKAY.....ummmm, Im so tired of this. First of all because he doesnt have the flu. He played 46 MINUTES!!!!!! Have you ever done anything besides sleep for 46 minutes when youve had the flu? NO.
And don't give me the crap about how these guys are superior atheletes and all that shit. They are, but that's not what last night was about. Last night was purely and simply about ego. And from one of the biggest that has ever graced the professional sports stage. Kobe Bryant's life long pursuit of wanting to be Michael Jordan is becoming tiresome. And after seeing Michael's HOF acceptance speech I cant wait to see what Kobe does for his: Admit that he got away with rape cause he's just that good?...sorry, had to.
What interesting here is that Kobe never plays 46 minutes even with overtime because this Phil Jackson Laker team doesn't need him to! But what Kobe needs is to rack up a couple more "performing under adverse circumstances" games so that when people look back they can use the stats to prove the Kobe was better than Michael. And here's the thing Kobe: you wlll never be considered better than Michael Jordan. He had a couple of things going in his favor. 1) Espn's Sportscenter had just started and he was on it every night doing things in front of a worldwide audience that hadn't seen anything like it before. And 2) He has and always will market himself better than you....
I guess this little rant is just to say: YOU DON'T FOOL ME KOBE. You never have and you never will. Win a championship without your franchise trading/buying SUPERSTAR players and getting help from David Stern okaying trades that should NEVER happen and I might have a little respect.
But right now, all I see is a guy who pretends to battle through adversity when there is none there. Just be okay with having things been handed to you from the time your were born with a silver-spoon in your mouth.
And the next time you have "the Flu", stay home and let your teammates beat the Thunder by 20. I think they can handle it and might prefer you not exposing them to possible H1N1.
F*ck Kobe Bryant. Seriously.
Give me Melo any day of the week.
Write respectfully of your SB Nation community and yourself.

Couldn't agree more...
Next time you watch a Lakers game, watch Kobe AFTER he passes the ball. Does he cut? Set picks? Nope. He claps his hands immediately after releasing the ball as if to say: “Crap. I picked up my dribble and HAD to pass it to you. Now pass it back!”
It’s hilarious to me that Kobe and MJ are considered the two best players in NBA history and widely known to be the two biggest assholes. I’d take Melo over Kobe no matter what.

Geez, who spit in your coffee this morning?

Spit?
Ummm. I think Kobe did.
If you are a good Nuggets fan but don’t have an opinion about the Lakers, Kobe, the Gasol Trade, the media spin, Kobe’s rape case or anything else having to do with the team that beat us in the WCF last year, well, someone needs to spit in your coffee! I don’t like anyone in the Western Conference but I HATE the Lakers and the Spurs and so should you. Sports fans that just really, really totally like love their team but just can’t bring themselves to hate any other team because “its just a game” make me want to puke. You’re not a fan because “fan” is short for “fanatic” and you just have a passing appreciation for the team that plays near you and that appreciation really peaks right around late March and early April…

hahah, chill buddy.
Kobe playing against the Thunder in like the 5th game of the season cannot compare to MJ. Has nothing to do with each other. MJ played in game 5 in a win that gave them a 3-2 series lead in the FINALS! Against a great Utah team. If he doesnt play in that game then he probably doesnt have 6 rings right now. Nobody is gonna remember this game 2 months from now for Kobe.
I agree…not much of a Kobe fan…but he is a monster and thats just his competitive nature right there.

You're making my point
As a fellow nuggets fan don’t patronize me by calling me buddy…that would be awesome. As far as Kobe goes, that’s my point! It’s the 4 game of the regular season against the THUNDER and he has the Flu? Are you really telling me that the lakers couldn’t beat the thunder w/o Kobe? And amidst H1N1 stuff? Stay home…and by the way. It’s people like you that say things like “he’s is just a monster and it’s his competetive nature” that I’m talking about. That shit is exactly what he wants people to say-you and espn-about him…I get that you think you’re a big enough NBA guy to be “a bigger person” than me, but once again…F*ck Kobe Bryant.
If you reply, can you not tell me to chill, or relax? Cuz I’m not actually all that fired up about it, it’s just how I see it. Have fun rooting for Kobe…

Kobe is a stud
Probably one of the 10 best players of all time. I am hoping Melo can continue playing the way he has and we could be talking about him as one of the greatest of all time.
I agree with you that the Lakers get favorable treatment and that Kobe tries to be MJ but what is so wrong with emulating MJ? You are inflamatory in your remarks just as I tend to be and I think that is the reason GottaLoveMelo is telling you to chill.
You can be a true fan of the Nugs and still like Kobe. I have enjoyed watching him dominate teams for years and have the media say that he doesn’t have what it takes to win. He said he wanted to get traded from LA if they didn’t get him some help. The Lakers go get that help in the form of Gasol and they win a championship. Looks to me that Kobe knows what it takes to win!

No you cant
Be a nuggets fan and be a fan of Kobe. That wouldve made watching the WCF hard. And by the way, you gotta give me some credit for a well-written somewhat witty post. It’s fun to hate Kobe…that’s part of being a fan of Our Nuggets..so to you as well I say, have fun rooting for Kobe, brother!

Whatever dude
I care 100 times more for the Nugs than I do Kobe. It wasn’t hard at all to root for the Nugs in the WCF last year. I was screaming, complaining, and cheering throughout every game for the Nugs.
Thanks for telling me what it takes to be a fan of the Nugs. You should chill the F out dude.

So Kobe is not a monster?
Ask the Nuggets if Kobe is a monster. His talents and game closing abilities is why we didnt make the finals. Ask anybody who has played against Kobe in the last 2 minutes of a close game. Kobe is nice…I’m not a fan…but anybody who cannot admit that Kobe is a monster is ignorant.

Again, making my point...
Kobe IS awesome. So why the flu dramatics. That’s what I mean by, “not fooling” me. By the way he dropped 41 the following night, and I would assume he still had some lingering “flu”…41 points? While recovering from the flu? And what is this Kobe is nice shit? When is alleged rape and cheating on your wife and family “nice”…??? Ignorant? Come on man, your better than that….

Nah dude
You are the ignorant one running around trying to start fights with everyone. Kobe is an elite superstar and he played with the flu. Get over it. It is something that not many people on earth can do. You need to realize that Kobe may be THE BEST athlete in the entire world. Things that seem impossible to you may not to Kobe.
by Gasus on Nov 6, 2009 1:08 PM MST up reply actions 0 recs
Easy...
Gasus likes Kobe and thinks he might be the best athlete in the world. SternfluffsKobe thinks (among other things) that Stern fluffs Kobe… Difference of opinion.
I tend to think that there are certain players in the league that are enemies of Nugget Nation and Kobe is top of the list. I fully recognize that Kobe, Duncan, Manu, Boozer, Roy, Deron Williams and a handful of other guys are studs and I would be EXTREMELY happy if ANY of them landed on our squad but until that happens, I hate them, one and all. Stupid? Maybe. Ignorant? Not at all. Worth a fight? Not in the slightest…

The more I think about it
I wouldn’t want Kobe in a Nuggets uniform. Maybe I am ignorant but I hate that guy. I hate his game. I hate his attitude. I think he’s a punk ass and that there is a reason Shaq (widely considered to be one of the friendlieast and most easy going guys in the game) thinks so too. I don’t like Ron Artest at all but I was hoping so badly that Artest would have clown slapped that douche last year when they almost went to blows and (go figure) Artest got tossed for an elbow that he took to the face from Kobe?!?! Remember him elbowing Manu 2 years ago? Cheating bastard. Fuck Kobe. He’s the worst kind of SuperStar – classless. You want proof? You want to see the polar opposite of Kobe? We’ll see him tonight in Miami. I’d take D Wade over D Bag any day of the week!

Yeah, whoa man
I get you have a man-crush on the dude…my point is: he doesn’t need to say he has the flu when he doesn’t…that’s my point. I didn’t realize that this would touch a nerve brother. So to use your words, “relax man”…and you’ll know when I’m starting a fight with you. This was what I thought to be some pretty fun banter about a guy that I thought we all considered a nugget killer and therefore a common enemy. My mistake. My next post will be about cupcakes and kittens, ok? And that’s twice now you’ve called ME ignorant to my zero to you…
PS: F*ck the amazingly talented and extrodinary superstar/best player in the game today, Kobe Bryant. Better?
by SternfluffsKobe on Nov 6, 2009 6:55 PM MST via mobile up reply actions 0 recs
Kobe is a lot of things...
Kobe is definitely one of the greatest talents to ever step on an NBA court. I think that what SternfluffsKobe is getting at is that he’s had a MUCH easier path to greatness than say, I don’t know, David Thompson or Alex English so why does he hem and haw so much? Why does he cheat? Why is he such an ass? Why does the media coddle him so much? Why does he get to be a brat and demand talent?
I can absolutely acknowledge Kobe’s talent without metaphorically kissing his ass can’t I?
