"Crap-Shoot": A diablogue about Stern's fake NBA

Go to the following link and read every word:

http://deadspin.com/5392067/excerpts-from-the-book-the-nba-doesnt-want-you-to-read?skyline=true&s=x

Whether it's all true or only a very small fraction, there is just no way on earth that David Stern and his refs are impartial and objective about our Nuggets and their "Thugget" alter ego. No way.

I am NOT a conspiracy theorist at all BUT I have found myself lately wondering about calls, suspensions, schedules and more. (And by "lately" I mean since The Malice at the Palace and the insane suspension of Melo that followed.) Do I still watch every game with the hopes that we are getting a fair shake? Sure. Do I believe that our big wins over big teams came IN SPITE of the league and the officials? Absolutely. Do I celebrate a little louder and longer after those wins because I know that the cards were stacked against us and that were winners on the losing end of an unfair fight? Fuckin' A...

I'm sure that Donaghy's book won't be a fun read for those of us that love the NBA and love our teams. Nescessary, but not fun at all.

Fuck David Stern and fuck Tim Donaghy and all the officials that don't call it the way they see it.

where amazing happens

What I find truly amazing is that David Stern knows all about this on some level. Its his fucking business and it makes a lot of money…you think he doesnt want to be in on everything that goes on. Maybe not on some level of a ref making bets with fellow refs before a game, but you dont think allowing Gasol to be traded to the Lakers for virtually nothing was a business move?
100%
What is interesting is to think about what ways the Nuggets would’ve been screwed if we hadn’t shot ourselves in the foot by Karl having his beloved AC throw two inbounds passes literally throwing away TWO GAMES.
What would Stern and goons have done if we went up 3-0 on his biggest money maker?
You dont have to a conspiracy theorist…..

For Real

I am not a conspiracy theorist but I guarantee you the NBA is corrupt. It has been for years but the sports media chooses to do nothing about it. It is actually something that is really sad in the USA is the fact that the media has sat on its collective ass for a long time. This is a good investigative reporters job to uncover the injustices that go on every day in the game we love most.

I couldn’t count the number of times the Nugs have been shafted by the referrees. I always get fired up then there are a ton of people that come around and say “no way, that couldn’t happen to a big business like the NBA.” We always get in heated arguements and I end up giving up because I am not the guy that is going to go investigate this corruption. This league is trying it’s damndest to slow down the freight train that is the 09-10 Denver Nuggets.

Dont know how much of the excerpts I believe.

Like imma trust Tim Donaghy and his word. But I do believe to some extent referees manipulate things. Like I know Iverson was crazy targeted back in the day because he kept making people look stupid with his crossover! After he did up Jordan they started calling him for palming ALL the time! Didnt realize it much in Denver tho.

What does Donaghy stand to gain?

And please don’t say “A BOOK DEAL!!!!” He’s got a book deal one way or the other whether he talks about how he threw games all by himself or if he talks about the others that did it for different reasons…

Why lie now? Why take the chance of getting sued for defamation or libel? It’s like Canseco; Donaghy knows that he cannot fix his image but he also knows that he’s not going to be the only one that gets mud on his face…

I would imagine that Donaghy doesn’t think that it’s all too fair that when Stern cooked the proverbial books to pad his own pockets, nothing happened to him. When Donaghy did it he went to jail and lost everything…

Practice doesn't make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect.

Gottalovemelo

Seems to be the bigger and better person than a lot of us…he’s a Kobe fan AND he also roots for the nuggets, and seems to think we’re being a little nuts about a guy that gets pretty darn specific about how and with whom he cheated…
Anywho, my favorite is the “lane Violation”
rule. I seem to be recalling a game we lost…oh yeah! Our season opener last season against the beloved “fundamentals playing” Utah Jazz because of a freethrow lane violation. Hmmmmm….

Game 6 of 2002 Sac/LA Series

That game was the first time that I knew for sure that the NBA did indeed put the fix on in certain games. Anyone who watched that game could see the obvious and numerous calls going against the Kings. The Kings were actually dominating the Lakers that game and the refs responded by making more and more ridiculous calls for the Lakers. The refs blatantly gave that game to the Lakers forcing a game 7. A game 7 that generated how much ad revenue for the NBA?

Thanks for posting the link. While it wasn’t eye opening, it was definitely a very interesting read.

STIFF LIST (as of 2/7 by Andrew Feinstein)

1. THE NUGGETS AT HOME
How is it possible that a Nuggets team with this much talent can be 7-5 at home?! Things have gotten so bad that fans are clamoring for J.R. Smith to return.

2. CARMELO ANTHONY
Kobe Bryant plays through any and all ailments. Melo uses any and ailments as an excuse not to play.

3. KEVIN LOVE
Just when the T'Wolves are looking better, Love stomps on Luis Scola and lands himself a two-game suspension.

4. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS
The 'Cats have lost 11 straight and are now 3-21 ... in the Eastern Conference! This is what happens when you let an underwear salesman with a Hitler mustache run your team.

5. MIKE BROWN
Dr. Bunsen Honeydew (Google it!) got himself a one-game suspension for making contact with a referee.
