Emeka Okafer in Gold and Blue?

Looks like the Hornets might have him on the trading block.  From the proposed trade mentioned here, the Hornets would ship him to the Kings for Kenny Tomas and his expiring $8 million contract.

http://dimemag.com/2009/11/nba-trade-rumor-emeka-okafor-to-the-kings/

Emeka is 6’10” and 250lbs.  So while he doesn’t meet the seven footer status that many nugg fans are looking for (including myself), he would still be solid for defending the paint and rebounding.  He has career averages of 10.6 boards and 13.9 points.  Here is his NBA page as well with more stats.

http://www.nba.com/playerfile/emeka_okafor/index.html

Figuring out how contracts fit in with trades hurts my head, so I haven’t done the math on what we could offer N.O. in exchange for him.  What I do know is that Pau Gasol won’t be out all season, and sooner or later the nuggs will have to pick up a BIG that can do some rebounding and defending.  So my fellow nugg fans, wha-da-ya-say about Okafor?

BTW, the Hornets have been a train wreck since that 58 point pounding we put on them in the playoffs.  I’m pretty sure we took their soul that night.

I know Emeka has the stats and all, but I just don’t like what he brings as a player… he comes off as a chronic under-achiever to me. However, if we could find a way to bring him in without losing any of our top 8 guys… he could bring nice depth.

i think he’d be great addition, just have to see what we would need to give up for him.

It d be pretty nice.

Of course, it won’t happen

I’m struggling to make this work in the ESPN trade machine without giving up a key component of the current roster.

Can't do it . . unless you want to trade Martin

Could have had ’im in the summer before the 9.7M salary cap exemption was used, if we got creative . . NO is a good place to look for trades as the are likely to be cost cutting. If anyone things Hilton Armstrong is worth it, we could probably snag him. . .

Martin won't work either

He makes too much, you could do an Emeka Okafor, Morris Peterson for K-mart trade, or you could trade Nene and Emeka straight up but those are really the only two options you have (unless of course you want to ship JR, Bird and Malik Allen…no thanks) I wouldn’t take either trade, they’re really only lateral moves at best. Maybe a Renaldo Balkman, AC for Hilton Armstrong trade could help us, though Hilton’s not exactly a stud

don't know how much sense this makes but...

nuggets get:
mbenga

hornets get:
powell
allen
morrison (all 3 are expiring contracts since they wanna restart)

lakers get:
armstrong
peterson
(this is where it all gets tricky cause i doubt the lakers would aprove of this)

just tryin some stuff

gortat

his contract is 5.7 million. lewis will be returning from his 10 game suspension. even though gs got rid of jacko there still could be a huge trade involving boozer, gortat, okafor and the bob cats remaining players.

another crazy idea

teams involved are Wizards, Cavs, Hornets and of course the Nuggets
wizards get:
balkman
okafor

cavs get:
david west
(frees up the lane for lebron n shaq)

hornets get:
big z
malik allen
mike james
crittenton
(all are expiring contracts according to the trade machine)

nuggets get:
blatche
(don’t know much about him but the trade machine says we would get 5 more wins with him)

any thoughts?

HOW ABOUT THIS!

This works under the cap!

Nuggets get Bron, Chris Paul and Daniel Gibson

Cavs get Martin and Sangolia

Hornets get Nene and Balkman

Denver increases 20 wins and Clev and NO drop 20 wins!!!! =)

hahaha only on nba 2k10 =)

The only way I see it happenign is a multi-team trade

Possibly involving one of the two lesser exceptions to first obtain another player.

STIFF LIST (as of 2/7 by Andrew Feinstein)

1. THE NUGGETS AT HOME
How is it possible that a Nuggets team with this much talent can be 7-5 at home?! Things have gotten so bad that fans are clamoring for J.R. Smith to return.

2. CARMELO ANTHONY
Kobe Bryant plays through any and all ailments. Melo uses any and ailments as an excuse not to play.

3. KEVIN LOVE
Just when the T'Wolves are looking better, Love stomps on Luis Scola and lands himself a two-game suspension.

4. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS
The 'Cats have lost 11 straight and are now 3-21 ... in the Eastern Conference! This is what happens when you let an underwear salesman with a Hitler mustache run your team.

5. MIKE BROWN
Dr. Bunsen Honeydew (Google it!) got himself a one-game suspension for making contact with a referee.
