Let's just start the conversation...

Good Lord I want Marc Gasol. Mentioned as a trade/signing option on several Nugg blogs, and boy, I think we can all see why now. He was great tonight.

Gasol/Nene(or Kmart)/Melo/Jr/Billups = Bye, Lakers

Bird/Graham/Naldo/Afflalo/Ty = Who's on your bench? Ha. FAIL.

Gasol/Kmart/Naldo/Afflalo/Billups = 0/25, 0pts

Nene/Melo/Jr/Afflalo/Ty = runrunrunrunrunrunrunrunrunrunrunrunrunrunrunrunrunrurun

etc./etc./etc./etc./etc. = So... where do I donate?

Write respectfully of your SB Nation community and yourself.

i doubt

Memphis would be wiling to trade him. He looks to be one of the only bright spots of their team. That’d be like saying we’d trade Carmello a couple years ago. But if it happens, great. I’m all in favor for it.

Naw

I don’t think there’s a way in hell. They want to win, and get some fans in there. That’s why they signed a couple of scorers like AI and Randolph. Even if they aren’t planning on the playoffs, they want to get bodies in the seats now.

I doubt they’d take Kenyon off our hands (and, despite his albatross of a contract, I dunno if I could part with him. A good snarl – we need a bully), so what do we have? AC, Graham/Balkman (we’d keep one), Malik Allen, Petro and draft pics. They don’t need any of those guys, and they don’t want to make moves for the future.

I would definitely move Allen, Graham and a couple first rounders for him though.

I really think we could get him if we are willing to take Jaric, it is possible using the trade exceptions for AI and Hunter, and if we give um the rights to LK and a couple 1st’s, they already got ours for next year, i think they’d do it. Gasol is only signed through next year and then he is a UFA, so it would probably be in their best interest to trade him then focus on extending Gay and Mayo.

but that doesnt work under CBA rules...

u cant combine TPE with anything except mayb LKs rights , one thing teams do to avoid this is seperate trades into seperate trades, like actually ai for billups was like 3 or 4 seperate trades to renew our TPE from camby i think

The STIFF LIST (as of 8/30 by Andrew)

STIFF #1: J.R. SMITH
Remember when I wrote that J.R.'s "nine lives may be up"? Well, that was last January. With Denver police looking closely at J.R. allegedly attacking former 14er Damien Lolar at a recent Pepsi Center shoot-around, it's clear that J.R. will never mature and it's time to move him.

STIFF #2: LEON ROSE AND WORLDWIDE WES
After commandeering LeBron's departure from Cleveland, Rose and Wes are allegedly working to move Melo out of Denver. Let's hope the Nuggets do what's best for Denver and not these two franchise-destroyers.

STIFF #3: RIC BUCHER
The man who once guaranteed that Kobe Bryant had played his last game in a Lakers uniform has been gravy-training on other reporters' Melo-related stories all summer long. Who does Bucher think he is, a sports blogger?

STIFF #4: MARCUS JORDAN
Like father, like son. Last week, His Airness's 19-year-old son tweeted about dropping $50k at the Aria casino in Las Vegas prompting an investigation.

STIFF #5: INDIANA PACERS
Brandon Rush has been suspended five games for violating the NBA's drug policy and 2010 draftee Lance Stephenson was recently arrested on assault charges. Larry Bird sure is doing a great job re-shaping the Pacers' already shoddy image.
