Kleiza Has Big Game in Greek Opener

Linas the Menace  had a big night in his Greece League opener, scoring 24 points and hauling down 8 rebounds to lead his team to a win.  Here is the link:

By the way, the Nuggs still hold his NBA rights, correct?  Mayber with a couple of years of Euro League seasoning, the Nuggs could resign Linas Kleiza in a couple of years as he enters his prime...

To be fair...

His career 3-point percentage is around 33% to 34%, which is pretty pathetic. However, his FG% was relatively high because he had the bulk to play in the post. In the Euroleague, the players are a bit smaller, and so he can play PF and drag opponents out of the paint. What makes him effective in the EL won’t be as good in the NBA

Why all the hate for Kleiza?

The Nuggs front office made the decision not to sign him last year…it’s not like he deserted the Nuggs..

kleiza refused to sign

he had a standing offer for 4 years at 25 million. when he did not sign denver pulled the offer the day before the start of last season. stan kroenke gets blamed for not wanting to spend money and kmart gets blamed because of his contract. jr had a better season and his contract is a year and 10 million less than lk’s deal. andersen’s deal is for 5 years and 20+ million and he had a better year. this summer lk wanted the same deal he refused the year before. he had a chance to play this year for 2.8 million on a team that can contend for an nba championship. he would have had a chance to be the sixth man with jr in the starting line up AND become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. he could have had a chance to do the same thing that ben gordon did with the bulls. he has a great season then go and sign with any team in the nba at his price. a multi-year contract offer and a minimum one year deal within 10 months. how do you come up with the front office made the decision to not sign him? he decided to play in europe instead denver. if that is not deserting the nuggs what exactly is it then?

ACEIII is right

Nuggets didn’t finish it off because of the CB trade. The effects of that probably hurt Kleiza’s production last season, and when he realized he couldn’t make more than 2.7m in the NBA, he moved his big @$$ to Europe.

Nuggs Pulled Their Offer

You said it yourself – - the Nuggs front office pulled the offer to Kleiza. He was ready to sign the deal, and it was the FO that decided to let him play out his deal. Saying that he refused to sign the deal is hogwash – - every player negotiates the best deal possible, and Kleiza was waiting until the last hour to get the best deal possible from the Nuggs. At the deadline, Kleiza was ready to sign, and it was Kroenke that pulled the deal. Thems the facts.

I think the Nuggs are utlimately going to miss Kleiza and Jones this year. They were young, valuable players who are still getting better each year…

Dahntay was not young

He’s in his thirties and isn’t going to get any better.

STIFF LIST (as of 2/7 by Andrew Feinstein)

1. THE NUGGETS AT HOME
How is it possible that a Nuggets team with this much talent can be 7-5 at home?! Things have gotten so bad that fans are clamoring for J.R. Smith to return.

2. CARMELO ANTHONY
Kobe Bryant plays through any and all ailments. Melo uses any and ailments as an excuse not to play.

3. KEVIN LOVE
Just when the T'Wolves are looking better, Love stomps on Luis Scola and lands himself a two-game suspension.

4. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS
The 'Cats have lost 11 straight and are now 3-21 ... in the Eastern Conference! This is what happens when you let an underwear salesman with a Hitler mustache run your team.

5. MIKE BROWN
Dr. Bunsen Honeydew (Google it!) got himself a one-game suspension for making contact with a referee.
