Nene/Affalo/Balkman for Biedrins and Jackson

What do you think about a Nene/Affalo/Balkman for Biedrins/Jackson?  It works salary cap wise, and would give the Nuggs that additional scorer/shooter in Jackson that they appear to need. I like Nene, but am convinced he is never going to be a dominant player in the League night in and night out.  Biedrens would fit in well with the Nuggs and give them a high post shooter at center that wil open lanes for Melo, Jax and JR.   I frankly think Biedrens is a more reliable center than Nene and the Nuggs would get some scoring punch and defense with Jax.

Not sure I like it... what we need is for Nene to play up to his potential.

We would lose two key defenders (although who knows if Karl will ever give Balkman any minutes. We could have used his D against Roy last night imho). Plus, even though he’s a baller, Jax is a chemistry and personality sink hole, and I don’t want another Iverson personality type on the Nugs.

Nene is quite frustrating, though, and he really needs to step up. I hope the coaching staff goes over film from last nights game with him. He’s too quick for the bigger guys, but unfortunately always plays soft and intimidated against them. C’mon big guy, you survived cancer for christs sake, now play like you got a pair (y’know, I’m not sure he actually has a pair post-testicular-cancer) and the second chance in life to use ‘em! If Nene applied his skills with ruthless passion, he could be an all star. If he continues to play soft, well, he’s a waste of money. Look how your teammate played last night, Nene, if you want to see raw desire to win, and try to pick up on it, dude.

You're insane.

No WAY would I do this deal in a million years. Jackson has shown that he has some real character issues and is aging, and Biedrins is an overrated product of a system that plays no defense.

NO deal.

Nuggets Would Keep Jax in Line

From what I have heard, Jax has really matured since the problems he had early in the year and the Nuggets have strong leadership that wouldn’t let him get out of control (Billups, Martin, and Melo). You guys don’t realize how versatile and talented Jax is on the court – - the dude can flight out score and is a real hustler. I believe he would be a fan favorite instantly. Biedrins is the kind of Center the Nuggs have need to pair with Melo . . a Center that can stick the 15 footer. Plus, Biedren is a solid defender and runs the floor well. In my opinion, this would be a no-brainer to do. I am tired of Nene’s inconsistency, whining about every damn official’s call, whining about having to play Center, etc. etc. etc. The guy just doesn’t have the love for the game to push him to greatness, IMO.

nene for bienrins straight up

to be fair to nene last night he played with a strained calf muscle. seasons past he would have sat out with that injury. nene has his issues between his ears but i would take his over jacko’s any day. jacko is a first rate nut job and a total buzz kill for team chemistry. he will turn 32 years old this season, has a bad contract, shot 41% from the field and led the nba in turn overs last season. nene is at a cross roads in his life. he has survived cancer, over come injuries, gotten remarried and he is on a mission from god. jacko is on the road to hell and denver does not have to go with him.

I don't think you can kill the Nugs chemistry

This team is first rate when it comes to chemistry. However, I think Nene is better than Biedrins so I definitely wouldn’t trade the two straight up. Adding Jax makes it really tempting but I don’t think the Nugs can afford to sacrifice any size at the 5. I would love to see Jax for a couple future first rounders though.

lawson

denver got lawson for a future first round pick. they sent future first rounders to ok city in the atkins deal and sent another to minnesota in the hunter deal. i would not take jacko even if gs gave him away AND he played for free. billups is a hall of famer not a baby sitter or a psychiatrist. look at the roster top to bottom, take away all the stats and you have a good group of quality people. there have been problems with jr, melo and balkman getting dui’s. they are young players and will be better as time goes by. jacko will turn 32 years old this season and he is regressing. i can only see jacko on the team to someday choke coach karl.

Did you read what he said?
“Don’t try to dig into it, that’s just how I feel,” Jackson said. “I don’t want to be a role model. … Being captain was overrated to me, anyway. You don’t do anything but go out before the game and talk to the refs. I don’t want to do that, anyway.”

I don’t want a guy like that on my team.

I don’t care what he brings to the table, after the AI saga I don’t need anyone else on the Nuggets who’d be so willing to trash a leadership position.

He could just be trying to force his way out of Golden State with those comments.

Guy is frustrated there … but yes, character issues is not something the Nuggets need.

we need a tough nosed PF Center, not another SG. Foster is who i want. please trade away AC and the trade exemption for him

oh hell no

S-Jax is a self-absorbed punk…I’ll take Nene and his raggedy on-and-off style of play anyday over that dude

Why mess with what we have?

This makes no sense, including the timing of the idea.

by stiffy on Oct 30, 2009 12:45 PM MDT reply actions

bad idea

Jackson is an older version of Jr.

by the nuggets fan on Oct 30, 2009 1:40 PM MDT reply actions

I don't really like this particular trade

Jax could be tryin to force his way out of Golden State with those statements and now that we have a leader CB patrolling the club, we can take a risk on a player without being too concerned about about destroying the team. He would primarily be brought in to shore up our scoring but once JR comes back, will this really be an issue? Wait and see if this really needs to be addressed.

The Nene issue is frustrating: After the WCF it was obviously that we needed a real center, so we could move him to PF. But no one is going pull a Memphis and give us their star center without giving up JR, Melo, or Nene in return. The potential is there, but how long do we let that be the reason he’s not shipped. We keep waiting for him to be the consistent low-post presence we need. But instead we get the inconsistent play, constant whining, shrinking from contact. Maybe the cancer scare is to blame and who could blame him but we need to make the team better. And since Kroenke doesn’t want to go into salary tax land, we must draft or trade to reach the next level. An old baseball maxim applies here : “Better to trade a player a years early, than a year later”.

To the trade: NEVER

Swap Jackson for a combo of Azubuike, filler, and Warriors 2010 pick and I MAY be interested…

Also, Jackson isn't that good at defense

I’d only do Nene-Biedrins if Anthony Randolph is somehow included.

Balkman + Nene for Biedrins and Randolph?

well i know we dnt want to wait but

next year kmarts expirer will be gold, teams r gna wna try and get potential FAs like parker, gasol, yao… (tech melo but he aint leaving) we could potentially trade kmarts expirer for mayb kamen or bargnani or gortat (w filler) or biedrins

nuggets have a great season

they will keep the team together. they go out in the first round and denver will let martin go. they could trade him today to cleveland. the fact that has not happened shows kmart is in their plans for this season. denver goes to the finals kmart is a lock to be in denver next year.

who wud u trade him to CLE for?

Z? cuz he doesnt fit this team at all… mayb hickson plus some others

by hvino on Oct 31, 2009 4:37 PM MDT up reply actions

Z's contract expires after this season

Z comes to denver and nene goes to power forward. i do not think nene has what it takes to be a starter at pf in the nba. my point is if denver wanted to move kmart cleveland would have gladly taken him over the summer. kmart is in denver for the final year of his contract will be a result of denver making a serious championship run this season.

Z is the human traffic cone at this point in his career

Only reason why he’s still in the NBA is because his contract obliges to do so and because he still has some range.

Ugh, Not Z

The Nuggs need a mobile center with some range, not an aging 7-footer with all the speed and hops of George Mikan. Actually, Z looks kind of lively compared to the human ocean liner that is Shaq.

1. THE NUGGETS AT HOME
How is it possible that a Nuggets team with this much talent can be 7-5 at home?! Things have gotten so bad that fans are clamoring for J.R. Smith to return.

2. CARMELO ANTHONY
Kobe Bryant plays through any and all ailments. Melo uses any and ailments as an excuse not to play.

3. KEVIN LOVE
Just when the T'Wolves are looking better, Love stomps on Luis Scola and lands himself a two-game suspension.

4. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS
The 'Cats have lost 11 straight and are now 3-21 ... in the Eastern Conference! This is what happens when you let an underwear salesman with a Hitler mustache run your team.

5. MIKE BROWN
Dr. Bunsen Honeydew (Google it!) got himself a one-game suspension for making contact with a referee.
