Nuggets vs. Partizan Belgrade (7:30pm MST): Game Preview and Thread...
When I saw that the Nuggets only preseason home game would be played against Partizan Belgrade, I unfairly derided the boys from Belgrade.
After reading my immature dismissal of Partizan Belgrade, AOL Fanhouse's Chris Tomasson emailed me a great article that he wrote about Serbian and Montenegrin basketball back when he was covering the 2004 Olympics for The Rocky Mountain News. Tomasson's article notes that Partizan heads a basketball "assembly line" for a country that has turned out terrific NBA players such as Vlade Divac, Peja Stojakovic and the late Drazen Petrovic (one of my all-time favorite non-Nuggets).
More recently, Partizan has racked up three straight Adriatic League (or NLB League) championships and won the Euroleague Championship back in 1992.
The bottom line is that the Nuggets should take these guys seriously and spare themselves a repeat of their embarrassing performance at Utah this week. Go Nuggets!
On a side note, the game doesn't appear to be televised on Altitude (at least not according to my guide on DirecTV) nor is it being televised on NBATV. Unless I'm missing something here and it's magically being televised somewhere I don't know about, I say shame on the NBA and Altitude/the Nuggets organization. Not only should the game be televised locally for Nuggets fans, but it should at the very least - as should all preseason games for all NBA teams - be televised to NBA League Pass customers and/or on NBATV. I really don't need to see "Real Training Camp: Los Angeles" repeated all day as they've been doing on NBATV. Get with the program, guys, and know what your fans (i.e. paying customers) want. I see an angry letter from yours truly coming shortly...

About Partizan
Peja Stojakovic never played for Partizan, actually he played for our archenemy red star Belgrade :) nor Drazen Petrovic played for Partizan he played for Cibona, but yes Vlade Divac, Zarko Paspalj, Aleksandar Djordjevic, Predrag Danilovic and Nenad Krstic played for Partizan.
As I sad before:
Partizan Belgrade is Serbian champion for last 8 years in a row, Adriatic league champions *(which is playing by the clubs from countries of former Yugoslavia) last 3 years in a row *(Patizan is playing this league since 2004), and a team who entered the Euro league top 8 last 2 years, in 2007/2008 defeated Panathinaikos the defending champion then lost in quarterfinals against Tau Ceramica 1:2, in 2008/2009 had no chances against CSKA *(who lost the final game from Panathinaikos 71:73) a team which is competing with a budget of less than 3 million euros, a team who apart from North Carolina University have given the most players to the NBA in last 20 years, a team which have a head coach Dusko Vujosevic coach of the year trophy winner for the 2008-09 season in Euro league and fans who set a European indoor basketball game attendance record this season in last game in group stages against Panathinaikos and won, a team who didn’t won the Euro league since 1992 only because it has to sell its best players *(sometimes even five top players) year after year and yet has respectable results…
This year we also sold our first four players Novica Velickovic to Real Madrid, Milenko Tepic to Panathinaikos, Uros Tripkovic to DKV Joventut all of these players played for Serbia on this year Eurobasket and won silver medal, also we sold Stephane Lasme to Maccabi…
But we still have quite a good team well good enough for Euroleague I hope. There is one guy still on our roster that will be interesting to you thats 19 y.o. Jan Vesely white guy can jump, I’ve seen him dunk 360 of course thats nothing new to you, but in Serbia sure is something. He is our biggest prospect this year, and I believe you’ll be hearing a lot about him in times to come. And I believe we will lost tonight by 20 maybe even 30 difference but that doensn’t matter, oh and it’s our birthday tonight :D so tell your boys to be easy on us :D

Can someone please record me that game grrrrrr I’m so angry cause I can’t watch it…
BTW... I heard Jan Vesely is like Gerald Green
Of course, I “heard” that from my semi-reliable friend…..

No media coverage of this game
Please tell me our squad didn’t lose to a team that’s lead by a washed-up Larry Roberts…

Balkman is good
He’d be a billion times better if he worked on his 3…

BoxScore
Acording with partizan´s site :
Denver Nuggets:
Anthony 17, Martin, Nene 12, Smith 10, Carter 11, Lawson 9, Petro 6, Balkman 10, Afflalo 15, Allen 1, White 9, Looby 2, Draper.
My two cents
In the highlights, it seemed extremely obvious that balkman’s hustle is ridiculously valuable for the team. George really needs to play him more. Also, Anthony Carter had a nice night scoring wise with 11 points and was 5-6 from the field. Watching the higlights, the one pass Melo had to Nene was sick, and the dunk was even better. If Melo keeps passing like that and Nene keeps dunking like that, life should be sweet in Nuggetland. I was on AOL fanhouse this morning, and Nene has made a pretty bold statement about himself. Check it out. It weems like a while away, but it still makes me kind of sad. Heres the link:

Hope to see this kind of nugget domination for the rest of the preseason and beyond.
Stop getting worked up over the outcome of something you can't control.
