A hoops vagabond still in search of a home, White has a non-guaranteed contract. If the Nuggets keep 14 players, he is a near shoo-in to make the roster. If they keep the league-required minimum 13, White could be in trouble.
"I just go out there and play. I’ve been doing it my whole life," he said. "I’ll do what they ask me to do and let the chips fall where they may. I’m just going to do my best."
In three exhibition games, White is averaging 7.3 points on 62.5 percent shooting, but he played in only one of two games – 3 minutes, 28 seconds total – during the team’s recent trip to China.
Nuggets coach George Karl pulled White aside during practice this week and told him he would try to find some minutes for him in the final three preseason games.
"Through a training camp, there’s usually one or two guys that kind of get screwed by the system," Karl said. "I said, `You’ve played better than you’ve earned.’"
That seems to be the story of White’s young NBA career.
