Nugs v Pacers in China 10/10

Created this, since there isn't a game thread for tonight's game.  I would really like to see some Arron Afflalo this game, but so far we've only gotten a good dose of AC's "magic".  Hibbert continues to impress for the Pacers, but  it's good to see Nene using his speed against him.  First quarter has just ended, and the Nuggets trail 33-29.  It would be nice if the Nuggets could actually prevent a 30 point quarter at least once in these two games.  I know the Pacers have a really high powered offense (snicker), but our defense these last two games has been atrocious.

Let's go

Pretty good game so far and Lawson getting some early minutes is always good.

We are really going to Petro a lot when he’s in the game hopefully he can get something going.

Excellent full court pressure

Dahntay can’t handle Melo either it’s pretty hilarious.

Melo with 28 at the half

its cool if you turn up the volume enough and ignore the annoying asian announcers you can hear everything the players are saying on the court.

For those who can’t watch, at the half it’s 58-57 Nuggets. Liked what I saw of Afflalo and Balkman. Second unit had a lot of trouble scoring in the first part of the second, but Melo pretty much put the scoring burden upon his shoulders in the later part. I’d like to see if Lawson can run the point a little bit in the second half, but would be happy just to see him play

by cessair on Oct 10, 2009 11:26 PM MDT reply actions

ooooooooohhhhhhhhhhh babbbbyy melo rejected dahntay

by CCH on Oct 10, 2009 11:33 PM MDT reply actions

wow melo just wow. Dahntay is lookin silly.

by CCH on Oct 10, 2009 11:36 PM MDT reply actions

melo is BALLLLLLLin this is ridiculous. Offense, defense , rebounding

by CCH on Oct 10, 2009 11:39 PM MDT reply actions

kmarts legs are lookin good. Serious hops.

by CCH on Oct 10, 2009 11:46 PM MDT reply actions

Oh jeez Nuggets pouring it on now

by runningdonut on Oct 10, 2009 11:48 PM MDT reply actions

Hopefully Karl is getting something out of it, but I just don’t see the reason to have Chauncey and AC play this much in the backcourt. We already know how they play together (badly). I’d much rather see Billups and AA, or AC and Lawson.

by cessair on Oct 10, 2009 11:48 PM MDT reply actions

Billups and AC looked real good for that stretch if you ask me. Gotta love the ball movement when both of them are in granted it works out for defensive matchups.

Judging by K-Mart's free throws

His stroke has at least some arc on it now, it’s improved

by runningdonut on Oct 10, 2009 11:56 PM MDT reply actions

yeah definately, he knocked down that 20 footer when he was wide open as well. (missed on too though)

by CCH on Oct 10, 2009 11:58 PM MDT reply actions

Cool

Another 30 pt quarter given up

by runningdonut on Oct 10, 2009 11:59 PM MDT reply actions

I think Ty JR and afflalo are gonna be a fun 2nd unit to watch.

by CCH on Oct 11, 2009 12:00 AM MDT reply actions

End of 3rd, 97-87 Nuggets. Melo has been ridiculous with 45 points so far, but when he went out the offense really stalled. Defense continues to be a problem, as the Pacers scored 30 again.

by cessair on Oct 11, 2009 12:00 AM MDT reply actions

K-Mart left hand?

It appears he has a usable one now

by runningdonut on Oct 11, 2009 12:02 AM MDT reply actions

ooooooooooooooooooooooo TY lookin good

by CCH on Oct 11, 2009 12:03 AM MDT reply actions

Brandon Rush is a good player

He shouldn’t be too far away from starting, and might already be better than Dahntay

by runningdonut on Oct 11, 2009 12:06 AM MDT reply actions

yeah, not sure he can doing anything besides stroke the three though.

by CCH on Oct 11, 2009 12:07 AM MDT up reply actions

WOW jr breakin ankles

by CCH on Oct 11, 2009 12:06 AM MDT reply actions

has anyone found a box score?

by CCH on Oct 11, 2009 12:10 AM MDT reply actions

Haha

Apparently Malik Allen’s not a great finisher at the rim he was just like WTF and fell over

by runningdonut on Oct 11, 2009 12:16 AM MDT reply actions

Damn Lawson

He’s going to be good we need to get him some good minutes

by runningdonut on Oct 11, 2009 12:20 AM MDT reply actions

Final: 128-112 Nuggets

by cessair on Oct 11, 2009 12:33 AM MDT reply actions

Good game

Nene was a +36 and Melo completely beasted

On the other hand Petro really needs a whole lot of work. JR is struggling with his defense and ball handling. Graham doesn;t look like anything more than a bit player and White isn’t getting minutes.

Malik Allen can play though. He fits into our offense and isn’t as bad as I thought he would be. My bad Malik.

by runningdonut on Oct 11, 2009 12:42 AM MDT reply actions

board work

melo had 9, andersen had 9 AND AFFLALO HAD 7. total of 50 for the team. al mcguire once said basketball games are won 3 feet from the basket. nice to see denver did not get into a 3 point shooting contest both indy games. nugs kept the fast break points to a minimum. as harry cary used to say- nugs win, nugs win holy cow nugs win!

pick up a calf every day pretty soon you will be picking up a cow

STIFF LIST (as of 1/30 by Jeff Morton)

1. THE ORLANDO MAGIC
After starting the season so well with the Dwight Howard trade drama (10-3) - the Magic have fallen apart (2-5 since) with embarrassing losses to the Celtics (twice), Hornets, and Pacers. Trade Dwight already!

2. CHAUNCEY BILLUPS' FLOP VS. NUGGETS
In the waning seconds of Sunday's game against the Clippers, Chauncey pulled off an acting performance so good it deserved an Academy Award. If he was still a Nugget we would love it, but he's not. STIFF!

3. JIMMER FREDETTE
Dude, if you are going to take the game-winning shot, at least draw some iron: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNO1goJOruQ

4. GEORGE KARL'S 4TH QUARTER AGAINST THE CLIPPERS
Getting out coached by Vinny Del Negro should be a nice wake-up call. Going away from Gallo. Leaving Al Harrington in. Using Rudy Fernandez at point guard. And going ultra small contributed to the Nuggets loss.

5. JEFF MORTON
For saying that the Nuggets would skimp on payroll and go cheap like the Avalanche. Clearly I was wrong and deserve to be on this Stiff List. I can only hope that the gods of basketball forgive me.
