Offseason trade ideas

Star-divide

So, I think we all agree that this should be a busy offseason for the Nuggets (or am I the only one thinking that?), but what should the team do? Our greatest need for the current team if PG but we won't get a good enough one unless we trade a top-tier starter or if the draft fairy works her magic, but that is risky around #20. About

the PGs that are on the table:

TJ Ford: no, no, no, no!!!! we already have a much much much better version in AI and TJ is frighteningly injury-prone. and we don't have a player the raps really need, namely a slashing, shooting SG who we could trade.

Chauncey Billups: well, this is one idea that makes me think really hard. Dumars wants to blow up the pistons' core and there MAY be a trade available in which we get Prince and Billups for Anthony. Of course this all hinges on: a) does Denver want to trade Anthony? and b) is this rumour true? With those two players we could change into a slower paced, more defensive minded team, with AI nevertheless running, gunning, slashing, and generally wrecking havoc. for evidence that this can work: see the Heat back in their championship season.

Free Agents who might be intriguing:

Carlos Arroyo: he would be a nice PG who could distribute the ball well, and sometimes score some points, like Steve Blake did. Of course, once again this does not solve our problems, as he is NOT the ideal starting PG for an elite NBA team.

Other random trade ideas regardless of position:

We should trade either Nene or K-Mart. The bulls really really need an inside scorer like Martin, and we really need a PG (whoops this goes back to the previous topic). The salaries do not match, so, throw in Sefolosha and Gooden, and we give Chucky Atkins. This would hand us: a young, promising, defensive minded (!!!! on this team !!!) swingman, a solid post player with an expiring deal, and a good point guard who had a down year, but has the makings to be way better. of course the bulls would be kinda foolish to do this, but if the draft Rose and run, then they could really use Martin.

Write respectfully of your SB Nation community and yourself.

Just giving you a Bulls fan perspective...

The big in return for Kirk go Camby, Nene, and in a distant 3rd would be Martin. Camby is attractive because of the shorter contract and veteran leadership. Nene is attractive because he is big, young, and fills a need. He also has played well versus the Bulls. Martin is unattractive because he plays the four where the Bulls already have Tyrus Thomas, Drew Gooden, & Andres Noccioni. I doubt the Bulls trade for KMart.

That all said, Kirk would be a nice fit because he can play with both JR & AI. Finally, I doubt Denver steals Kirk like the did JR for the same price.

Trade for billups

Denver would be better off with billups, A.I., prince, nene, and camby as their then wat it is now. Carmelo is a excellent player but he does not play defense. We had to use martin to cover kobe in the playoffs because a.i, wuz to short and melo jusy wants 2 score. Prince would give us a great defender in a guy who could put up 20 and 7reb per game. A.I. would be able to do his thing scoring 30 a night and billups would give us a much needed
PG who plays d and score wtih the best of them

FEAR THE NEVERMORE DEFENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!

THE STIFF LIST (as of 11/4 by Nate)

STIFF #1: DAN HAWKINS
After predicting 10 wins for his club before the season the Buffs find themselves just 2-6 with four games to play. To add injury to insult ... former 5-star prized recruit Darrell Scott announced he'll be transferring to UCLA after just 1 1/2 seasons at CU. Another black eye for the program and hopefully the final nail in Hawk's coaching coffin.

STIFF #2: CHRIS PAUL/RAJON RONDO FEUD
Each player was assessed a technical foul after refs had to separate the two in Boston's 97-87 win Nov. 1st. After the game the arguing and posturing continued. As Celtics' coach Doc Rivers pointed out, the 180 lb. fight rule should be invoked allowing the two to scrap because, "It's impossible for them to hurt each other." Maybe Paul should focus more on his teams' 1-3 start and not on the opposing teams' point guard's ability to, "respect me as a man."

STIFF #3: ESPN NBA HEADLINES
The Nuggets headline today reads, "Nuggets sink Pacers to avoid taking first loss." Compare that to the Suns' line reading, "Suns remain unbeaten, hand Heat first loss." Thanks for the backhanded compliment Worldwide Leader. At least Yahoo! Sports got it right, "Nuggets off to best start in 24 years." Maybe I'm being too picky.

STIFF #4: STEVE NASH'S MINUTES
When has it EVER been considered a good idea to play a 35 year-old (36 yrs on February 7th) point guard 36.8 minutes per game? Nash is on pace to average a career-high in the minutes department. And while Nash has averaged 77 games played in five full seasons with the Suns, his chronic back issues could rear its ugly head out early at this rate.

STIFF #5: PORTLAND TRAILBLAZERS
Sure starting the season off 2-3 is no big deal, but when head coach Nate McMillan begins openly questioning the teams' effort to the media ... look out.
