2008 NBA Playoffs: Nuggets/Lakers Game 4 Game Thread

Los Angeles Lakers at Denver Nuggets, Apr 28, 2008 8:30 PM MDT

This game is about heart.  We will see what players on the Nuggets roster care and which ones do not.  Phoenix was in the same situation in game four.  They knew no one has ever come back and won a series after getting down three games to none, but all they cared about was making sure their season would not end at home at the hands of a hated rival.

Win or lose tonight, I just want to see some heart from this team.  For two and a half hours put a stop to the soap opera backstabbing and high school musical drama.

So it comes to this.  I am pleading with you Denver, show us some heart.

Make sure you head over to Forum Blue and Gold, the NBA.com Series Blog and the Los Angeles Times Lakers Blog for other game four insights.

I don't see how we win this game

I don’t even think they’ll compete. I really believe the team has officially quit on Karl and we could see a 30 point debacle at the hands of the Lakers tonight. Things are just a mess right now. I hope I am wrong…

I can barely watch

The Rockies are continuing to play like ass, so I’m kind of switching back and forth between the games based on who’s playing worse. If they (the Rockies) can keep it within a handful of runs, they’re probably going to receive most of my attention. Based on what we’ve seen so far, the Nuggs are going down ugly.

rockies in october.

Yep

While I expected this from the Nuggets tonight the Rockies cannot possibly be this bad! This is the same team as last year minus Kaz, LaTroy and a couple others…. Unbelievable. Is this our punishment from for that miraculous run?

Way to block out Mbenga

Unbelievable. It’s those type of things that drive me absolutely nuts with this team.

If asking whether or not Karl will be back next year

Is a ridiculous question Warkentein, I really, really question my allegiance for the first time ever.

by RyanBuff on Apr 28, 2008 9:33 PM MDT reply actions   0 recs

There were plenty of breakdowns

But I think the Nuggets have played hard in the first half and really tried to run in the second quarter.

The problem is the Lakers are just better.

by Jeremy on Apr 28, 2008 10:09 PM MDT reply actions   0 recs

Sadly

They are definately a better constructed team.

Yes

Please don’t let me down….please don’t, because I’m officially excited.

At least they're playing hard, and with heart

More than I thought we’d get tonight….

That was a horrible call on J.R.

It was not even close. Vujacic was moving and not squared up with J.R.

I think so

Don’t hold me on it though, now you have me thinking

by Kay on Apr 28, 2008 10:51 PM MDT up reply actions   0 recs

Maybe the worst charge call in the history of the NBA

I think the hyperbole is justified, considering a season is on the line. Vujacic didn’t even have both feet on the ground. I’m not even sure he had ONE foot on the ground. Embarrassing for the officiating crew.

To be honest

If they lose, I wont be mad, a lil hurt but not mad.
They played hard today.

Kobe is the best basketball player alive

wow. i wish we had a guy with that kind of killer instinct and determination. I guess a lot of teams do though…

by RyanBuff on Apr 28, 2008 11:15 PM MDT reply actions   0 recs

Figures

The time we need a stop the absolute most we can’t get it. That’s our season in a nut shell right there.

Re: Figures

That is definitely true.

Disappointing to say the least

Getting swept! Unacceptable. Things better change and change a lot.

by RyanBuff on Apr 28, 2008 11:20 PM MDT reply actions   0 recs

And that is the season

Not how I hoped it would end six months ago…

by Jeremy on Apr 28, 2008 11:20 PM MDT reply actions   0 recs

Anywho

And that folks, is the season

His Wolves, My Nuggs

by Kay on Apr 28, 2008 11:21 PM MDT reply actions   0 recs

I'm not gonna hate....

Good season by the Nuggs, many high points to look back on.
For all who said they quit in Game 3, they sure didn’t quit tonight. They showed passion, energy, and pride. Unfortunately they couldn’t make some key stops and it sucks we couldn’t pull out the W.

I’m not saying this loss isn’t our fault, BUT, its hard to win a game, let alone a series, when you get absolutely NO calls, and the other team gets plenty of them… Pau Gasol: 1 foul the last two games….with all that contact down there and 1 foul???? Come on now….

Good season Nuggs!! See you next year….

MELO!!!

The Nuggets just cannot play consistent enough defense to win close games. When you are playing from behind in the fourth quarter, need to be able to string together consecutive stops to take the lead and preserve it.

THE STIFF LIST (as of 3/8 by Andrew)

STIFF #1: K-MART'S LEFT KNEE
Best-case scenario, K-Mart misses another week or two with a sore knee.  Worst-case, he's done for the season with knee surgery.

STIFF #2: RON ARTEST
Nice hairdo.  'Nuff said.

STIFF #3: JOEL PRYZBILLA
The Blazers backup center re-injured his surgically repaired right knee after slipping in the shower.  Now we're just waiting for Greg Oden to slip on a banana peel.

STIFF #4: CAVALIERS FANS
Recently set the world record for the largest gathering of people wearing fleece blankets - i.e. Snuggies.  Really?!  This is worthy of a world record?!

STIFF #5: BOSTON CELTICS
Losing to the pathetic Nets and almost losing to the Wizards is one thing.  But to do so at home within a week of each other...now that's an art.  I think it's safe to assume the Celtics are going nowhere in this year's playoffs.
