Talking Nuggets In LA

I have been asked to be on the Steve Mason show on ESPN Radio 710 AM in Los Angeles this afternoon at 3:06 pm mountain time to talk about the matchup between the Nuggets and Lakers.

You should be able to listen live by clicking here.

It should also be posted as a podcast later today and I will provide a link to that in case you miss the live show.

Update:  If you are listening live, they are running behind and I will be on soon.

Update to the update:  Due to a plan that would bring an NFL team back to LA I have been bumped and am rescheduled for tomorrow.  I think I will just provide the link to the podcast should I make it on the air.

Sorry to anyone who sat through a bunch of LA sports talk for no reason.

2 things....
  1. NFL back in LA?  Is this just rumors or is it being seriously considered by the commish?
  1. No one seems to be giving the Nuggets any chance of beating LA. Nuggs announcer Scott Hastings had an interesting point last night, LA is only 7 games better than us, and if we dont have the over-confident attitude in 7 games that we lost to teams we should have beat, and Melo doesn't get hurt in a game in LA, and we don't blow the game that we should have won here in Denver where A.I. had 51.... I know we didn't see Pau Gasol in any of those games, but K-Mart, Camby and Nene (should he play) all have covered him plenty in his time in Memphis and did a pretty good job. I guess what I'm trying to ask is...ARE THEY REALLY THAT MUCH BETTER THAN US??

Re: 2 Things
  1.  A group of private investors has put forth a plan to build a state of the art stadium with no public funds.  If everything is approved, the stadium will be done in 2011 and they will begin looking for a team to poach.  Steve Mason, the radio show host, is targeting the Chargers.
  1.  I think the Lakers are the worst possible matchup for the Nuggets and you will begin seeing posts on that in the near future.

Re: re: 2 Things
  1.  I've heard talk that Jacksonville is a not a sustainable NFL market in the long term.  NCAA ball rules around there.  The Jaguars are a playoff team now, so they wouldn't be poachable for the foreseeable future.  But as soon as the cyclical nature of the NFL takes hold and they start to stink, they could probably be had.
  1.  This is a very casual prediction based on no substantial evidence whatsoever, but my gut feeling is that that to beat the Lakers some unexpected Nugget would have to have a fantastic offensive series.  Melo, AI, and JR aren't getting us through this one on their own.  KMart's going to have to average 20+, or Camby or Carter 15+ to give the Nuggs a chance.  Just a little unsubstantiated prediction.

STIFF LIST (as of 2/7 by Andrew Feinstein)

1. THE NUGGETS AT HOME
How is it possible that a Nuggets team with this much talent can be 7-5 at home?! Things have gotten so bad that fans are clamoring for J.R. Smith to return.

2. CARMELO ANTHONY
Kobe Bryant plays through any and all ailments. Melo uses any and ailments as an excuse not to play.

3. KEVIN LOVE
Just when the T'Wolves are looking better, Love stomps on Luis Scola and lands himself a two-game suspension.

4. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS
The 'Cats have lost 11 straight and are now 3-21 ... in the Eastern Conference! This is what happens when you let an underwear salesman with a Hitler mustache run your team.

5. MIKE BROWN
Dr. Bunsen Honeydew (Google it!) got himself a one-game suspension for making contact with a referee.
