A Blazer fan who is a big Birdman fan

PrintThe last two games between the Blazers and the Nuggets have reaffirmed the fact that my favorite non-Blazer player is Chris Anderson. My Blazer fan friends think that I am nuts for being a Birdman fan and I wanted to get a feeling on how his own fans see him. I think he has a cool story. The highs of an undrafted JUCO player sticking in the NBA, the lows of the 2 year ban, drug addiction etc. Now he's getting solid backup minutes for a darn good team. Even though he could probably make the Pro Bowl as a right tackle with those moving picks, I love his energy and would trade Channing Frye and/ or Ike Diogu for him in a second.

Anderson is nice
But he can not finish around the rim with any kind of reliability. If there is another big man within a meter you can be sure he will get flustered and blow what should be a fairly straightforward layup. He is also an absolute sucker for pump fakes; guards and bigs alike can easily draw shooting fouls thanks to his overanxious reaction to the smallest movement. Overall, however, he has been ludicrously good value for us.
Birdman
I love having the Birdman back. There was a great story about his suspension on espn.com Outside the Lines or something last year. It was really good. I recommend searching for it and reading it!
Good things seem to happen with the team when he’s on the floor…always have. Guy is a hustler. I love his energy and you can tell his teammates like him. My aunt got to meet him at a local event for public schools and said he was really nice and very involved with the event and it made her happy to see that.
This is by far my favorite Nuggets team ever. Even more so than the epic 1994 team.
