Nuggets improve to 6-1 in the ACB Era...

I'm pretty beat right now, so I'll just throw up a quick post in case anyone wants to comment on tonight's win over the Milwaukee Bucks.

Nuggets fans have to be thrilled with yet another victory in what I'll be calling the ACB Era (referring to "After Chauncey Billups") for now on.

When was the last time nine Nuggets players played over 20 minutes and seven of them put up double figures in scoring? And that's with J.R. Smith shooting 1-7 for a mere five points!

Let's hope this walkover victory against Milwaukee provided the starters with enough rest to beat the Spurs at San Antonio on Wednesday night. Go Nuggets!

I hope Balkman is okay. He's a super star

Hey man they deserve the 'D' in Denver now mate.

JR just couldn't get into any kind of rhythm last night. He made a few nice passes though and set up a few of the guys. I hope George Karl didn't overlook that aspect of JR's game last night!

And props to your renewed Stiff List!

It's an odd site to see these days. We have a big game against the champs, then we go on a streak of beating teams we are supposed to. What team is this?

Another good game. Though I've been calling them Nuggets P.I. (post Iverson. Duh...) I guess ACB will work

Congrats on the good start. Didn't see the game, but was glad to see LK finally show up in the boxscore.

I have been George Karl's biggest critic over the last year or so, and obviously his people skills are terrible (AI may be frusterating, but didn't you know what he was going to bring before you got him. He's always been the same player. And he hustled his ass of while he was here; he just wasn't what the team needed.), but i'm happy to see our team run set offense and defense. I'm happy to have Chauncey starting plays on offense, and not allowing easy penetration on defense. I know they are on an upswing so i wont get too carried away, but this has the potential to really be a good team come playoff time.

Hey Andrew, what did you think about Dahntay Jones last night? He hit some j's. Took it to the rack. Don't you think the more minutes played the more comfortable you become and your game comes. I'd take him and JR any day over AC and CA. AC and CA twins? I hope not.

I went to the game last night. I have to say, the Nuggets looked as sharp as I've ever seen them. Crisp passes, hitting open guys ... and this was even when most of the starters weren't on the floor. I came away very, very impressed. Even JR, I thought, had a good game with some great assists. I would argue that his overall game was better than Kleiza, even though Kleiza scored some points. I really like this team -- they seem much for focused. Melo even looks like he's in shape, go figure.

They are playing like I've never seen them play before yet I still need to see them beat good teams on a consistent basis....This 6-1 ACB record is great yet we have played mostly bad teams other than Dallas and Boston who we beat obviously, which is awesome, but until they start beating those kinds of teams regularly, im going to reserve my excitement. And by the way Andrew Fisher, thanks for the tip on how to watch the games, I tried P2P last night and I got to watch the game, thanks bud!

Well, scratch Dahnte Jones off your "List of Nugget's shooting guards you have never seen make a shot" list. Hit hit a couple of nice js last night. Atkins finally made an appearance too, whcih is good. At least he isn't getting paid any longer for just sitting down on the bench. I have to say, I am really happy right now as a fan. We are playing great, on both ends of the floor. But our defense has been winning us games lately and I am really glad to see that. I hope we can continue this outstanding play in the future and become a solid defensive team. We know we can score but if we can play as good of defense as we have been, I think we can be a threat in the playoffs. I feel wierd saying that, but happy too. One quick thing though. Does anyone else think it seems like Nene scores way more a night than what the stats say. I swear watching this guy I think he is a 20-10 guy. Maybe one day he will be.

After Chauncey Billups? Shouldn't this BE the Chouncey Billups era?

by Anonymous on Nov 19, 2008 12:38 PM MST reply actions

Nuggs looked real good last night in another ugly game - skott skiles has the bucks fouling like they are the Jazz - and it seemed JR was in his best rhythm all season despite not scoring. He was within the offense. Anyone have ideas of teams that need a backup pg (chucky) that could send a big our way that makes a little less? New Orleans perhaps for Melvi Ely (who has a championship ring, haha)?

Big game tonight, excited to see Nene go up against Timmy - played him real tough in the playoffs a couple years ago, should be a good measuring stick for him.

Don't forget to go to Taco Bell you guys!!!!!

Did Taco Bell lower the points required to less than 120????

I vote for ATA (After the Answer) era, and before we get our hopes up just remember this era has only had two legitimate teams so far, one of which we lost. This week, starting with tonight, will be a big indication of how far this team can go.

I did a little research and the Nuggets are actually 276-327 in the ACB era, which ended when Chauncey returned to the Nuggets a little over one week ago.

Did we both watch the same game last night. Nuggets looked good in spurts but we won cause we have more raw talent than the Bucks. we had a 20 point lead and it got down to 8 or so within 3 mins to go. We need to learn how to finish a game off. We have been good coming from behind but when we have the lead, we quit and let the other team back in.

Just a great game to see. The Nuggets looked solid and competent. Taco Bell 110 points

by markp on Nov 19, 2008 7:07 PM MST reply actions

Hey anonymous, remember most of the starters were warming their asses during the Bucks late minute runs.

by markp on Nov 19, 2008 7:11 PM MST reply actions

The Nuggets will never realize their full potiential as long as the man crush between GK and
AC continues to exist. Two consecutive turnovers last night in the game which closed the gap between the Bucks and Nuggets, and tonight the SOB does the same thing because he doesn't have the confidence to attempt the wide open three point shot. WHAT THE HELL IS HE DOING IN THERE? Turnovers, airballs, missed layups getting posted up. WHAT THE HELL IS HE DOING IN THERE?

STIFF LIST (as of 4/26 by Andrew Feinstein)

1. METTA WORLD PEACE

Metta resorted back to Ron Ron last Sunday by clubbing James Hardenwith an "inadvertent celebratory elbow", landing him a 7-game suspension. Apparently, changing his name didn't prevent NBA commissioner David Stern from overlooking Metta's past behavior problems.

2. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS

The 'Cats are on the verge of securing the worst winning percentage in NBA history. Given that the guy who runs the team - Michael Jordan - had previously drafted Kwame Brown and Adam Morrison, should this really be a shock?

3. OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
The team that was supposedly built to overcome the lockout-shortened season managed to lose 7 of its last 14 games, ceding the Western Conference's 1-seed to the Spurs in the process. Their reward might be a first round matchup with defending champion Dallas.

4. BILLY HUNTER AND DEREK FISHER
With report after report coming out about NBPA union head Hunter's shady, nepotistic dealings and questions arising about Fisher's own role in dealing with NBA owners behind Hunter's back during the lockout, this off-the-court scandal could prove to be more exciting than the playoffs themselves!

5. STEVE NASH AND THE PHOENIX SUNS
The Suns are on this list for squandering the last few great seasons from Nash. Nash is on this list for his stupidly stubborn loyalty to a franchise as awful as the Suns.
