2008-09 Game 17: Denver Nuggets at Minnesota Timberwolves Game Thread

Denver Nuggets at Minnesota Timberwolves, Nov 29, 2008 6:00 PM MST

The Denver Nuggets face a game that really could be considered a must win against the Minnesota Timberwolves.  With a matchup with the Houston Rockets looking tomorrow and after dropping a game against the New Orleans Hornets where the Nuggets just could not get their act together a loss at Minnesota would be very frustrating.

The Nuggets have a six game winning streak against the Timberwolves, but only two of those six wins came on the road.  Minnesota may have a difficult time beating the Nuggets, but they do a pretty good job of making the Nuggets look bad for long stretches of time.

The Nuggets have only had one game you could consider to have been a blowout and that was the home game against the Bucks.  We have mentioned about how good teams pull out close games when they are not playing at their best, but good teams also blow out bad teams relatively frequently.  It would be nice to see an easy win tonight, but the history of this series seems would suggest that is not going to happen.

Just a suggestion....

Could you compile the links to Nuggets articles from the Denver papers/national outlets (when necessary)? Could really help some fans catch up with the team.

Very True

He is conducting a post clinic

n/t

No he’s not. He might be top 5, but he’s still not better than Duncan.

Yes he is

Duncan is the best post scorer, but Jefferson is the best LOW post scorer

Halftime Stats

Pace Factor – 98.5

Defensive Efficiency – 109.7

Offensive Efficiency – 121.9

I wish the Nuggets big men would stop leaving their feet for his shot fakes.

Chris Anderson

would jump to block the shot if a player with the ball sneezed. He is a good shot blocker, but mostly because he’ll jump at anything.

spacing

There is not enough spacing on the floor, they are driving on a post orientated team/defense. They should bring JR on to get more width

I've said it before

and I’ll say it again: Carmelo has the worst awareness of his positioning both defensively and offensively on the team.

THE STIFF LIST (as of 3/8 by Andrew)

STIFF #1: K-MART'S LEFT KNEE
Best-case scenario, K-Mart misses another week or two with a sore knee.  Worst-case, he's done for the season with knee surgery.

STIFF #2: RON ARTEST
Nice hairdo.  'Nuff said.

STIFF #3: JOEL PRYZBILLA
The Blazers backup center re-injured his surgically repaired right knee after slipping in the shower.  Now we're just waiting for Greg Oden to slip on a banana peel.

STIFF #4: CAVALIERS FANS
Recently set the world record for the largest gathering of people wearing fleece blankets - i.e. Snuggies.  Really?!  This is worthy of a world record?!

STIFF #5: BOSTON CELTICS
Losing to the pathetic Nets and almost losing to the Wizards is one thing.  But to do so at home within a week of each other...now that's an art.  I think it's safe to assume the Celtics are going nowhere in this year's playoffs.
