START JR

I was at the Staples Center on Friday night, if there was a game being played I didn't see it.  I don't understand why JR Smith isn't starting.  Dahntay Jones brings nothing to the table on the offensive end and if defense is the reason he's starting, I didn't see him play any.  There was a sequence in the first quarter where the Lakers gave the ball to Kobe on the block where he backed Dahntay down and shot it right over his head.  They ran the exact same play the next time down the court, to the same effect.  JR may be raw, but I'll take his explosiveness and selfless energy over Dahntay's "defense" any day.

The Nuggets bench is deeper than people realize.  Kleiza, Balkman, Carter, Atkins, Jones and Andersen bring plenty of energy and firepower off the bench.  There is no need to bring both JR and Kleiza off the bench.  I just feel like its wasted resources.  JR is barely seeing playing time this season, but when hes in, hes great.  He and Nene were the sole bright spots of the game the other night.

START JR!!

Also, it was nice to have the support of several fellow Nuggs fans in the hostile environment of the Staples Center.  If the Nuggs refuse to play together, at least we have a national community to mourn with.

Write respectfully of your SB Nation community and yourself.

I'm fine with it...

In all fairness, Kobe has the ability to back down ANYONE he wants to in the league. Jones plays good defense and is starting to knock down mid-range jumpers more consistently, add the fact that he runs on the break very well and D-Jones is a solid contributor on both sides of the ball. JR fits very well coming off the bench, especially since Kleiza has been inconsistent early in the year. If it aint broke, dont fix it…I love JR but right now Im just fine leaving him as our 6th man. Go Nuggs!

Because we need offense off of the bench

Who starts the game does not matter — it’s who gets the most minutes. JR gets more minutes than Dahntay. Being upset that he’s not starting is foolish. Jeremy wrote a post on this not too long ago. Look it up.

The STIFF LIST (as of 8/30 by Andrew)

STIFF #1: J.R. SMITH
Remember when I wrote that J.R.'s "nine lives may be up"? Well, that was last January. With Denver police looking closely at J.R. allegedly attacking former 14er Damien Lolar at a recent Pepsi Center shoot-around, it's clear that J.R. will never mature and it's time to move him.

STIFF #2: LEON ROSE AND WORLDWIDE WES
After commandeering LeBron's departure from Cleveland, Rose and Wes are allegedly working to move Melo out of Denver. Let's hope the Nuggets do what's best for Denver and not these two franchise-destroyers.

STIFF #3: RIC BUCHER
The man who once guaranteed that Kobe Bryant had played his last game in a Lakers uniform has been gravy-training on other reporters' Melo-related stories all summer long. Who does Bucher think he is, a sports blogger?

STIFF #4: MARCUS JORDAN
Like father, like son. Last week, His Airness's 19-year-old son tweeted about dropping $50k at the Aria casino in Las Vegas prompting an investigation.

STIFF #5: INDIANA PACERS
Brandon Rush has been suspended five games for violating the NBA's drug policy and 2010 draftee Lance Stephenson was recently arrested on assault charges. Larry Bird sure is doing a great job re-shaping the Pacers' already shoddy image.
