Nuggies

When I heard we weren't unloading Karl at the end of last season, I was concerned.  When I found out we'd gotten rid of Camby and Najera I was beginning to get upset (pirmarily because I had this whole cheer thing worked out for Najera (Imagine a loud WWF style voice - Naaaaaaaaaaaaaa-HA-Raw!!!).  Then Iverson was traded... So much for the season right?  Right?  Time to look for a "safe place" to hibernate in for another 13 years until we can be good again, right?  WRONG!Pssst.... The Nuggets have won 4 in a row and they're 1.5 back of the Lakers and are tied with Utah.

The Nuggies are lookin' damn good and are winning decisively.  Granted last night's win was against a beat up Spurs team, but we still beat them.  Unfortunately, I can't watch all the games so I missed seeing Tim Duncan's whiny scrunched up little face over the loss.  Futher, it was a shame that Manu and Tony Parker weren't there either.  The three of them make the whiniest bunch of jerk-balls in the game.  Nothing brings me more joy than to see them on their stomachs, binky in hand , arms and legs flailing about throwning a full-scale tantrum.  Of course, considering our playoff noshows the past few years (Lakers series excluded, of course) I haven't been able to see it too often.

Tomorrow we got the Lakers and I am confident we'll take em.  You won't believe the talk I'm hearing... Before they lost their first game there was actually talk of going undefeated.  I know, delusional right?  Incredible. Now they're just talking about beating the Bulls record in wins as though it's a formality that they should actually have to play the games.  So please Nuggies, please, beat the f-ing Lakers.

Things are lookin' up!

J

What a difference a few weeks can make! After the loss to GS I had pretty much given up on Les Nuggs for another year. Then came The Trade( Bronco’s have “The Drive”, Avs’ have “The Shot”, Rockies have “The Streak”) and all is different. K-Mart is a beast again, Nene is finally living up to the promise and the hype, our bench is suddenly deep and productive and Melo isn’t that score first, score second guy anymore. The Nuggets are a legitimate “lockdown defensive team” for the first time…ever? at least as long as I can remember. They have a winning record on the road including wins at Boston and San Antonio and have been in both recent road losses at GS and at Cleveland until the very end.
The big test comes Friday when we get the Lakers on the second night of a back-to-back while we are waiting in LA for them. Should be entertaining to say the least.

Not to mention...

Injuries! Usually both Nene and Martin are out by now! Amazing.

THE STIFF LIST (as of 3/8 by Andrew)

STIFF #1: K-MART'S LEFT KNEE
Best-case scenario, K-Mart misses another week or two with a sore knee.  Worst-case, he's done for the season with knee surgery.

STIFF #2: RON ARTEST
Nice hairdo.  'Nuff said.

STIFF #3: JOEL PRYZBILLA
The Blazers backup center re-injured his surgically repaired right knee after slipping in the shower.  Now we're just waiting for Greg Oden to slip on a banana peel.

STIFF #4: CAVALIERS FANS
Recently set the world record for the largest gathering of people wearing fleece blankets - i.e. Snuggies.  Really?!  This is worthy of a world record?!

STIFF #5: BOSTON CELTICS
Losing to the pathetic Nets and almost losing to the Wizards is one thing.  But to do so at home within a week of each other...now that's an art.  I think it's safe to assume the Celtics are going nowhere in this year's playoffs.
