Denver Nuggets News As We Approach the Opener

The Denver Nuggets have made three announcements heading up to the Jazz game.
First, Renaldo Balkman's very reasonable option has been picked up for next season. He will be under contract with someone, most likely the Nuggets, next year for $2.1 million.
Secondly, Carmelo Anthony and Kenyon Martin have been named captains. Interesting that AI was not voted in (apparently the voters did not like his stance on defense).
Lastly, Linas Kleiza will start in place of Carmelo Anthony. I am sure Dahntay Jones is pretty bummed, but I think it is the right choice.

I like the way Balkman played tonight, good thing we picked up his option for next year. Boo for Kleiza though, he did nothing to help us win against Utah. The one shot he did manage to knock down, could have been a BIG 3, was an inch too far in. My patience is really starting to wear down with LK….
