2008 Preseason Game 4: Denver Nuggets vs Phoenix Suns Game Thread

Phoenix Suns at Denver Nuggets, Oct 17, 2008 5:30 PM MDT

Well, I have no idea how many of you will be watching this game on some obscure website so I better throw up a game thread just in case.

Melo will undoubtedly be pumped up for his return to the Carrier Dome where he played in college for Syracuse although he did have a message for fans who may want to see him play his regular allotment of minutes:

"I hope they don't (start chanting in the fourth quarter) this time," Anthony said Thursday. "They've got to realize, it's a different time of the season right now."

It sounds like everyone will be available to play other than Steven Hunter, Chucky Atkins and Sonny Weems.

First Half Update

Kenyon has the night off. Juwan started in his place. No Nash or Amare for Phoenix.

Both teams playing similar to the outdoor game, low scoring and sloppy. The score is 43-41 Suns.

Nene is playing well on both ends of the floor. He blocked a couple of shots early, including one from Shaq, and did a good job being a threat on offense from the post and the wing.

Melo has 14 first half points. J.R. Smith has done well too, but I missed most of his time on the floor.

First players off the bench were J.R., Birdman and Cleaves. No Smush Parker in the first half. I do not think Ruben Patterson played either, but I could be wrong.

Another win for my Nuggets.

Difficult to feel too bad about a team that wins 4 straight, 3 of which included games against premier Western Conference heavyweights.

THE STIFF LIST (as of 3/8 by Andrew)

STIFF #1: K-MART'S LEFT KNEE
Best-case scenario, K-Mart misses another week or two with a sore knee.  Worst-case, he's done for the season with knee surgery.

STIFF #2: RON ARTEST
Nice hairdo.  'Nuff said.

STIFF #3: JOEL PRYZBILLA
The Blazers backup center re-injured his surgically repaired right knee after slipping in the shower.  Now we're just waiting for Greg Oden to slip on a banana peel.

STIFF #4: CAVALIERS FANS
Recently set the world record for the largest gathering of people wearing fleece blankets - i.e. Snuggies.  Really?!  This is worthy of a world record?!

STIFF #5: BOSTON CELTICS
Losing to the pathetic Nets and almost losing to the Wizards is one thing.  But to do so at home within a week of each other...now that's an art.  I think it's safe to assume the Celtics are going nowhere in this year's playoffs.
